Chapter 925
Spoiled by the President
Vickie Thomas and Gregory Graham gathered their thoughts.
They could not remember when they kissed for the first time.
All they remembered was the fuzzy warm rays of sunshine that afternoon, captivating them in their hearts.
Eventually, they concluded to have their wedding on the 3rd day of the Chinese Lunar Calendar the month after.
According to Mr. Osborne, the Chinese Lunar Calendar stated that it was an auspicious day to get married.
When it came to picking the location, Gregory knew that Vickie had always loved the ocean. Worried that his enemies might intentionally create a ruckus at his wedding, it did not seem safe to hold the wedding at an ordinary beach. That was how he decided to hold the wedding on his private island.
It had been a while since he bought that island and Vickie was quite curious about its name. She decided to ask him. As he looked deeply into her eyes, he whispered a name.
She felt her cheeks burn.
âThe island is called V islandâ
V. Of course she knew what it meant.
It suddenly dawned on her that he intended to give her an island a long time ago. Perhaps that was the time when the man decided to be with her for the rest of his life, but Vickie did not realize that until now.
Her heart warmed at the thought of this and all traces of reluctance and uncertainty disappeared.
The big day arrived soon.
As Vickie grew up in an orphanage, she had no family. The only person she had was Grandpa Glenn, the director of the orphanage, but unfortunately, he had passed on a while ago. That was how Mr. Osborne ended up being the person walking her down the aisle.
Mr. Osborne was Gregoryâs close acquaintance, and he watched the two of them grow from children to lovers. He was a mentor, a friend, and a father figure to her.
He was someone who knew where he stood and never overstepped any boundaries. The air around him was always warm, and it was from him that Vickie understood what fatherly love felt like.
Decorated with flowers in full bloom, a grand feast was laid as the white silk swayed in the wind. Sounds of laughter filled every corner as the air bustled with energy and a wave of serenity.
Their friends, Nell Jennings, Gideon Sam Leith, Liam Jackman, Janet Hancock, Massimo Nolan, and Joel Foster had all subsequently arrived.
As the Wedding March played, the group watched as Mr. Osborne walked Vickie down the aisle, her hand hooked onto his elbow. Emotions roared at the bottom of their hearts.
This couple went through a lot before they got to be where they were now. When the day ended, Vickie was officially his legal wife.
The two of them had beat around the bush for many years. He felt grateful that she did not leave him. He was glad that they had each other for the rest of their lives.
Mr. Osborne had already brought Vickie to the front of the altar.
He looked at Gregory. His usually kind and compassionate complexion was now bottled up with emotions. It was rare to see him that way.
âI am willing to handover Vickie to you, Young Master, but you must promise me one thing. Will you love, protect, and care for her in sickness and in health? Will you protect her at all costs?â
Gregory muttered in a deep voice, âI will.â
Convinced, Mr.Osborne handed Vickie over.
Lifting his hands, Gregory took hers and guided her to the stage.
The pastor had already arrived at that time. As Mr. Osborne was not her biological father, they did not ask him to give a speech. It was already good enough that he agreed to fill the void.
He looked at the couple. They were a perfect match for each other. He smiled. âMr. Gregory Graham, would you love Miss Vickie Thomas forever, and protect her from harm? Would you cherish her, for richer for poorer, in sickness and health, till death do you part?â
Gregory had never been so sure his entire life. âI do.â
The pastor repeated his statement to Vickie.
With a smile on her face, Vickie replied, âI do.â
âI now pronounce you, Mr. Gregory Graham, and you, Ms. Vickie Thomas, husband, and wife!â The pastor announced.
Delighted, the audience roared in excitement.
âYou may now kiss the bride,â He said.
The corner of Vickieâs lips curled up into a shy smile as Gregory leaned forward, his eyes deep into hers.
Just before he was about to kiss her...
âOn cr*p! Looks like Iâm too late!â
An outburst shattered the serenity and joy in the atmosphere.
Shocked by this interruption, the audience instinctively looked in the direction of the culprit as Shimon Flinders and his gang walked in with a smug look on their faces.
The joy drained from Gregoryâs face.
The last time that incident occurred, Gregory almost flipped out on Shimon, which took a toll on their relationship. Friends? More like foes.
He should not have been there. Gregory did not expect to see him at all.
The guests had confused expressions on their faces. It was no secret that Gregory Graham had cut off ties with Flinders Clan over Vickieâs disappearance.
No one talked about it, but it was something that they all knew.
It was hard to believe that Shimon was there to give Gregory his blessings. It would sound more convincing if he were there to trash the place.
As Harold and the others were guarding the area, they secretly made preparations for a fight.
Gregory straightened his back and looked at Shimon Flinders as he walked over with a smug look on his face. âWhy didnât you tell me about your wedding? Thatâs not very nice of you, Gregory. Weâve been friends for more than a decade. You should at least have the decency to inform me about it,â he said.
He stopped right in front of Gregory.
Gregory reached out to shake Shimonâs hand. Unexpectedly, Shimon yanked him over and gave him a simple hug.
The smug look earlier on had now been replaced by coldness. âWhy didnât you invite me to your wedding, Gregory? Is it because of guilt?â He whispered.
Although Gregory seemed unfettered by this, it was obvious that he was clenching his jaw.
âWe still have unfinished business about Vickie.â
âHah! Isnât she just right by your side? What unfinished business are you talking about?â
They exchanged a few words as they let go of each other.
They were all smiles when their heads lifted.
Shimon looked at Vickie and said, âIâve known Gregory for more than a decade. If we talk about our age gap, Gregory would have to call me his big brother. Iâll swallow my pride this time and call you my younger sister-in-law.â
Saying this, his hands reached backward as his subordinate hurriedly brought a gift.
âThis is a small gift for your wedding. Itâs nothing much, but I hope youâll accept it.â
Vickie raised her head and glanced at Gregory.
As he did not show any signs of objection, she took the gift.
Standing right behind Shimon was Yuliana Lynch. She took a step forward.
Even though you were supposed to be happy at someoneâs wedding celebration, there was not a trace of joy on her delicate face. Instead, it was filled with an odd sense of indifference and loath as she glared at Vickie.
âCongratulations Mrs. Graham. May your marriage be showered with happiness and joy.â
Vickie smiled a little. âThank you very much, Mrs. Flinders. â
An awkward silence fell. Just then, the emcee swooped in right on time and invited the guests to take their seats. Only then did the two women break their gaze.
The ceremony had to go on.
Vickie passed the gift to someone nearby as she looked at Gregory.
