Chapter 931
Spoiled by the President
On the side, Gregory was feeling the same as Vickie.
Previously when Vickie disappeared, he still needed to settle the feud with the Flinders. So, by right, he should be feeling cautious and hostile towards this man.
However, while he sat here, maybe it was due to the surroundings, or the opposite party being overly humble, he did not feel any anger at all.
Jeff smiled and said, âYou look just like your father.â
Vickie startled a little.
âYou know my father?â
âMm.â
Jeff nodded and looked outside the window. It had started drizzling.
The Autumn drizzle added a dreary feeling to the scenery.
He squinted his eyes and faintly said, âHe used to work under me for fifteen years. We were close friends and just like biological brothers.â
Vickie frowned.
Her instincts were telling her that it seemed like there was a story untold.
As expected, she heard him let out a sigh.
âUnfortunately, he passed away when he was young. I didnât even get to see him before he passed.â
Vickie asked, âYou said he was working under you? What are you? And what was he? What were the positions the both of you had in the Flinders family? How did he die?â
Vickieâs endless questions startled Jeff for a bit. He then relaxed and smiled.
âI know you have a lot of questions. Thereâs no need to rush. Since we have a lot of time today, you can ask the questions one by one.â
As he spoke, he paused, then explained, âThe question regarding who I am, I donât think I need to explain further. Both of you already know.â
Once he said this, Vickie and Gregory were startled.
Initially, it was just a guess, but after he said this, their suspicion became the truth.
Jeffâs face still carried a smile. He looked like he was around Gregoryâs age. However, for some reason, when those warm eyes were staring at them, he felt like an elderly person who had gone through a few thousand years of life, and had experienced and seen everything.
He smiled and said, âAs to what your father was, youâre already aware of who I am, so Iâm sure you should be able to guess who he was.â
Vickie frowned.
âYour trusted assistant?â
âNot too bad.â
He paused, sipped on the tea, and continued, âHe was part of the Flinders family as well. His name was Tristan Flinders. He was by my side from when he was young until he grew up. I treated him like a son and a friend. Everything he learned was taught directly by me. I initially thought he would continue staying by my side, handling matters and being loyal to me, but in the end, he met your mother.
âEvery marriage in the Flinders needs to be approved by the family. But, your mother didnât have a clean family background and the family didnât approve, so he eloped with your mother.â
Once he said that he smiled brightly.
âWell, youths are always high-spirited and hot-blooded. I guess he was impulsive. When I sent someone to look for him, as I expected, he hid really well and it was really difficult for me to track him down.â
âIt took about three to five years before we finally found him. Unfortunately, we discovered he had already passed away due to illness.â
Vickie frowned.
For some reason, it subtly felt like something was not right.
She asked, âSuch a coincidence? Like you said, he should've been a pretty healthy person. How did he pass away just a few years after leaving the family?â
Jeff smiled gently.
âYouâre really smart. Looks like nothing can be hidden from you.â
He reached out, took the loose tea leaves from the side, brewed another tea, and said warmly, âYouâre right, there was another reason for his death.â
Vickie suddenly startled.
Jeff looked up at her and smiled widely, âDo you suspect I actually killed him?â
The fingers at the side of Vickieâs body tightened but she continued to force out a smile.
âNo. Like you said just now, you couldnât find him during those years.â
Jeff smiled while he shook his head, âYouâre not telling the truth. Youâre definitely doubting me but thatâs okay. This was something already decided by fate so it doesnât make a difference even if I told you.â
He paused faintly, his gaze turned serious and calm.
âThe reason for his death was the Flinders familyâs hereditary disease, it was the same attack as what you experienced during your wedding.â
Once he said that, both Vickieâs and Gregoryâs, who sat next to her, faces changed.
Jeff continued, âPreviously when you had the attack, everyone saw. This disease is aggressive. In a short amount of time, it can take someoneâs life.
This is a special hereditary disease of the Flinders. In order to control this disease, we developed medicine. It can be suppressed as long as this medicine is taken consistently. However, this medicine is very rare and only provided to people in the family.
âPreviously when your father was working by my side, he definitely had enough medicine. But after he betrayed and ran away from the family, itâs only normal that he ran out of it.
âAt the beginning, he could get them through some friends, but eventually there was not enough. Everyone in the Flinders family needs it, no one could give him enough to last for months and years.
âAfter that, when he ran out of medicine, he died. This was the reason for his death.â
Once Jeff finished, the house became silent.
Vickie pressed her lips. Gregory held her hand below the window bench. His warm and thick hand wrapped over her small hand in his palm and she felt a sense of strength.
She looked up and stared directly at Jeff.
âSince youâve asked us to come here, what do you want to do?â
Jeff was satisfied with her attitude. Even though she heard about her fatherâs tragedy, she did not look overly agitated.

He leaned back and said leisurely, âEasy, letâs make a deal.â
âWhat deal?â
âI need both of you to search for something while I supply you with the medicine to stop the disease from progressing.â
Once he finished, Vickie rejected without giving it a second thought, âNo.â
Jeff squinted his eyes, âYouâre rejecting me without even listening to what I want you to search for?â
Vickie said seriously, âSince you can sit here and even give orders to Louis Flinders, that means your status is definitely above his. Just by looking at the Flinders familyâs influence across a few continents, itâs safe to say it is the largest underground power. If itâs something even you guys have trouble looking for, itâs definitely something extremely difficult to search for.
âAnd now you want us to help you look for it, but the only remuneration I can get in return is medicine that can only temporarily control the progression of my disease. What if the item has been found? Can I still depend on you and continue getting this medicine for the rest of my life?â
After Jeff heard, he was surprised for a moment and laughed immediately after.
âInteresting. This is really interesting!â
