Chapter 967

Spoiled by the President

Lizzy nodded her head and opened the box in front of her with a utility knife.

As expected, girls always had a soft spot for presents.

Even the most elegant of girls would transform into the Legendary Edward Scissorhands when it came to opening presents. With swiftness and precision, it was done in an instant.

After Lizzy had finished opening her presents, she was finally satisfied.

Nell accompanied Lizzy and taught her to keep the presents properly. Then, she brought Lizzy out of the storeroom.

“Mommy, I have already opened my presents. You can go to work now. There is no need to accompany me.”

Nell nodded her head as she looked at the time. It was 10:30 am, and there was still plenty of time.

She gave Lizzy a few instructions before she left. Just as she was about to leave, a loud chime could be heard. A white object could be seen dropping to the ground.

Lizzy shouted, “Ah, my jade pendant!”

Nell turned around and saw Lizzy picking up a jade pendant from the floor. She hurriedly rushed over to Lizzy’s side.

To her surprise, it was the jade pendant that was gifted by Jean.

The night before, Nell did not look at that jade pendant carefully. She had only thought that it looked familiar after viewing it under a blurry light. The jade pendant was very similar to the relic that was left behind by her mother, Cathy Morrison.

However, that thought had only flashed through her mind at that moment. She did not take that thought seriously.

After all, Cathy has been gone for so many years. She did not leave anything behind too. As such, how would Jean Leith get her hands on the jade pendant?

That was why she did not give it any serious thought.

However, now that she had seen the jade pendant for a second time, she could clearly see the lotus pattern on the jade pendant. That caused her heart to tremble.

A familiar feeling was getting stronger as Nell took the jade pendant from Lizzy’s hands.

“Mommy, what’s wrong?”

Nell did not answer. She carefully stroked the texture of the jade pendant. After looking at it for quite some time, Nell could see a word in the center of the lotus. As the sunlight beamed through her door, she could see “Morrison’ engraved on the jade pendant.

She was shocked.

How could this be?

Outsiders might not know about it, but Nell remembered it vividly. Back then, the Morrison family was the top family in Jincheng. Her grandfather, Old Master Morrison, held a lot of power in Jincheng. As the sole daughter of the family, Cathy had lived a lavish lifestyle since she was young.

To make her daughter unique from the rest, Old Master Morrison trained Cathy in various hobbies and talents. In addition to that, Cathy’s items were also uniquely labeled. These were done to show that those objects belonged to her.

The label was pretty simple, in which every object had the word “Morrison’ engraved on it.

From objects that were as small as notebooks and bowls to items as big as jewelry and clothes, all of them had the word “Morrison’ on them.

Nell used to think that she would never get to see this name ever again. However, she managed to find it on a jade pendant.

Her face turned pale as she started to reminisce about her past.

On the other hand, Lizzy was terrified. She saw Nell standing there without moving a muscle. It was as if Nell had lost her brain, which made Lizzy cry in a panic.

Lizzy tugged on Nell’s sleeves as she screamed, “Mommy? Mommy, what’s wrong? Don’t scare Lizzy like that.”

A warm teardrop had dropped on Nell’s hand.

Nell was shocked by the warmth. She regained her sense and looked at Lizzy with an absentminded expression.

She could feel trails of chilling water on the face. Then, she had only realized that she had started crying out of nowhere.

Lizzy probably cried in fear after seeing Nell cry.

Nell wiped off the tears on her face. She then bent down and comforted Lizzy. “Mommy is fine. You don’t have to worry, Lizzy. Mommy was just thinking about some things just now.”

Lizzy pouted as teardrops started to roll down her face as if they were pearls falling off a necklace.

“Don’t feel sad, Mommy. If you feel sad, then Lizzy will feel sad too. Don’t cry, Mommy.”

As she said that, she used her petite hand to wipe off Nell’s tears.

Nell’s nose started to twitch as tears began to well up in her eyes once more.

She forced out a smile. “Okay, Mommy won’t cry anymore. Mommy is not sad, so Lizzy won’t cry too. Lizzy is the prettiest girl in the whole world, and pretty girls don’t like crying.”

Lizzy nodded her head.

Nell looked at the jade pendant on her hand and sighed.

Lizzy asked, “Mommy, were you crying because of this jade pendant?”

Nell nodded her head. “Yes, it made me think of my mother, which is your Grandma. Can you see the word “Morrison’ over here?”

As she said this, she led Lizzy to a place under the sun. She then flipped over the jade pendant for Lizzy to see.

Lizzy shouted in surprise, “I can see!”

Nell smiled. “Everything that your Grandma had used before has that symbol on them. I thought that I couldn’t find your Grandma’s stuff in this world anymore. Now, I realize that Grandma’s relics still exist somewhere.”

Lizzy blinked with confusion. “But I thought that Grandma’s surname was Jackman. Why would there be the word “Morrison’?”

Nell choked.

She remembered that Lizzy did not know about the past. Lizzy did not know that Nell’s identity was switched with another person. As such, she had to grow up in Jincheng.

Ever since Lizzy could understand these complicated relationships, Nell and Owen had already become siblings. She had also found her biological mother, Juliette. Naturally, Lizzy would view Juliette as her maternal grandmother.

Nell laughed and explained, “That is another Grandma. The Grandma who gave Mommy a second life and raised Mommy.”

Lizzy tried to understand, even if she could not fully comprehend it.

“I understand. She is still my Grandma, after all. Since this is Grandma’s stuff, we will need to take care of it properly. We can’t lose it anymore.”

Nell laughed. “Yes, so Lizzy will need to keep it properly. Don’t lose it again.”

Lizzy got a little nervous after listening to her mother.

“But, my stuff always goes missing. What if I lose it?”

She frowned. Suddenly, her eyes turned bright.

“Oh, how about Mommy keep it for me? I haven’t seen this Grandma before, after all. You will keep it for me now, then you will take it out whenever I see Grandma in the future. I am sure that Grandma will be even happier when I wear that jade pendant to see her. Am I right?”

Nell was shocked. Suddenly, sadness began to fill her heart.

She did not know how to explain to Lizzy that she would never get to see Grandma anymore.

That was because Grandma had passed away many years ago.

Nell took in a deep breath and forced a smile.

“Okay, Mommy will take care of it for you. When you see Grandma next time, make sure to wear it. I am sure that Grandma will like you even more after seeing you wearing her jade pendant.”

“That’s a promise.”

Lizzy handed the jade pendant to Nell happily. Then, she headed back to her room to read her books.
