Chapter 100
Spoiled by the President
Somewhere else.
Nell was working when she suddenly received a call from Gideon.
He asked if she was free at noon to come over to him. Someone wanted to meet her.
Nell was a little surprised, but she happened to be free at noon, so she agreed.
At noon, Nell went to Leith Corporation. As soon as she entered the office, she saw Gideon as well as Gareth Leith.
She was surprised but asked with a smile. âDirector Leith, what brings you here?â
Gareth smiled at her and felt even more satisfied.
How could she look so good?
Her eyes and nose were exactly the same as Ashley Watson in his mind.
Gideon glanced at Gareth and said casually, âHeâs here for you.â
âMe?â
âYes.â Gideon told his cousin, âTell her yourself!â
Garethâs spirit shook.
Nell was confused. âDirector Leith, what can I do for you?â
âItâs nothing. I just wanted to ask, are you interested in acting?â
Nell laughed.
âI am! Are you working on anything new?â
Garethâs eyes lit up.
âNo, Iâm busy shooting âHidden Valley: Ashleyâ now. Lucy Katz, who you introduced to me before, is great. Both her professionality and her attitude are much better than other actors of her age, so I have to thank you!â
Nell had a sneaking feeling that there was no way Gareth Leith made the trip here today just to thank her.
However, she feigned ignorance and did not say anything. She simply smiled.
âIn that case, shall I introduce a few more actors to you?â
Gareth waved his hand.
âItâs fine. I donât have a shortage of other roles, but I have one missing. This role canât be filled by anyone else.â
âOh? What role is that?â
âAshley Watson.â
Nell was stunned.
âWasnât Celine Jennings already cast as Ashley Watson?â
Garethâs brows furrowed at the mention.
âForget it. That was originally because we could not find a more suitable candidate. Plus, she brought resources into the group, so I agreed to let her play this role. I didn't expect that there would be such a large scandal now. With her current image, Iâm worried that itâll affect the group if we continue to use her, so after careful consideration, we decided to look for a new candidate.â
Nell laughed.
âWho do you have in mind?â
âYou!â
âMe?â
She pointed to herself in surprise and looked at Garethâs serious eyes. She realized that he was not joking.
Turning her head to look at Gideon, she saw that his gaze was solemn. He said in a deep voice, âIâve already refused on your behalf, but heâs unwilling to give up and wanted to ask you in person.
Nell did not know whether to laugh or cry.
âDirector Leith, Iâm not an actor. Iâve never acted before.â
Gareth did not care. âSo what? You have talent. With my training, Iâm sure that youâll be able to shine in this play.â
Then, he patted his chest as if it was the card up his sleeves.
Nell, however, shook her head.
âIâm sorry, Director Leith. I wonât be able to accept this request of yours.â
Garethâs face changed at the words.
He stared at Nell anxiously. âWhy not?â
âBecause I have no plans to be an actor, and I donât like the life of being watched by others.â
An artiste. How glamorous it sounded.
However, Nell, who had stayed in this circle for several years, was deeply aware of the difficulties behind the superficial glamour.
Even if oneâs popularity was high, they would just be a money tree in the hands of capitalists, moving like a marionette under the attention of countless people.
She did not like this feeling.
Thus, she respected the thoughts and choices of the artistes under her as much as possible.
Even so, she was not willing to get involved deeply herself.
Gareth saw her resolute attitude and was at a loss.
Nellâs eyes flashed and she suddenly smiled. âDirector Leith, why donât I introduce someone to you?â
Gareth responded weakly. âWho?â
âJanet Hancock. Have you met her before?â
âJanet Hancock?â
He frowned.
He did know about this person. After all, she was beautiful and famous, but he heard that she had a bad temper and a complicated background that was difficult to handle.
To be honest, as a director, he was reluctant to accommodate his actors, so he never thought of using that lady.
Nell nodded. âJan has a good character. Those things being said about her are just rumors. If youâre alright with it, I can talk to her! Rather than handing over such an important role to an amateur like me, I think that you should give it to her instead. Sheâs much more suitable to play Ashley Watson than me.â
Gareth looked at her with a grudging gaze.
âAlright! You can talk to her first. If she seems suitable, then Iâll contact her again.â
âItâs settled.â
After sending Gareth off, Nell did not plan to stay any longer. There were still a bunch of cases waiting to be dealt with over at the PR department, so she prepared to leave after greeting Gideon.
However, the man stopped her.
âThereâs a gathering in the evening. Will you accompany me?â
Nell hesitated. âI still have work at night...â
Gideon frowned.
His deep eyes locked onto hers and he said with a bitter gaze, âIt seems like I made the wrong decision by letting you join Anning International.â
Nell was confused. âHow so?â
âYouâre so busy that you donât have time for me.â
Nell. â...â
âNelly, why donât you leave that aside and just focus on your Xinghui. Itâll be more relaxing that way...â
âNo.â
Nell interrupted him without thinking. âYou were the one who invited me, so you canât go back on your word!â
Spoiled by the President ï¤Chapter 99 A Scandal Explodes Wrong Ride, Right Lover She had been working at Anning International for awhile now, and to be honest, she liked the atmosphere there very much.
She was not the type to give up halfway, especially when it came to work, so she could not possibly leave at this time.
Nell waved her hand. âAlright, you just want me to accompany you to the gathering, right? I get it.â
Gideon revealed a smile.
âThen Iâll come pick you up tonight.â
âOkay.â
Nell left Leith Corporation, and at 6:00 pm, Gideon indeed came over to pick her up.
They did not go anywhere else and went directly to Clearwater Villa.
Nell did not know who he was going to meet tonight, but she could sense that the man was in a good mood. He did not tell her anything when she asked, so she could not help but be curious about tonightâs gathering.
At Clearwater Villa, in the Peony Pavilion private room.
Several youngsters were sitting on the sofa.
Joel Foster crossed his legs and looked at the door expectantly, smiling. âThird brother said that he would introduce sister-in-law to us today. I wonder who this sister-in-law is.â
Next to him, Simon Wilburn raised an eyebrow proudly. âYou donât know? Hehe! Iâve already met her. Do you want me to tell you first?â
Joel rolled his eyes and snorted.
âWhat are you being all smug for? Iâm not asking you. Iâll find out for myself later.â
