Nell looked at Gideon with a stunned expression.

After a while, she burst into laughter. “You are right.”

Gideon rubbed her head in a pampered manner. “Now, can you tell me about the meaning of all of this?”

Nell thought for a while and told him everything that had happened.

Gideon was in disbelief after listening to her.

He stayed silent for a while. “What are you planning to do?”

Nell shook her head. “I don’t know. She doesn’t remember anything at all. She doesn’t even recognize me. Thus, I don’t even know how to talk to her.”

“Don’t worry,” Gideon comforted her, “Everything that happened that year must have been very traumatic for her. It’s normal if she wants to forget everything. Luckily, she is still alive. Plus, you found her too. I guess you could call this fate. No matter the result, the fact that she is alive is already a blessing from God. Let’s not demand more, okay?”

Nell nodded her head.

The fact that Cathy was still alive after so many years was already a miracle. After all, she had found her mother, who she had thought was gone forever.

Nell knew that she should not be greedy and ask for more. She had lost her composure because she was acting out of selfishness. After all, she did not want Cathy to forget about her.

At that moment, she had figured everything out thanks to Gideon’s guidance and comfort.

Nell sighed.

“Actually, everything is fine as it is. If my mother doesn’t remember her past, then that means she will forget about the injuries that were inflicted by Shaun. Gideon hugged her tightly.

Nell leaned on his arms. Her voice was a little hoarse. “However, I want to see her. I want to spend more time with her. I also want to ask her about her life throughout these years. Gideon, I have never truly blamed her. I just didn’t know how to express the myriad of emotions in my heart.”

Gideon nodded. “I understand.”

He paused. Then, he looked at Nell. “Don’t worry. Once you have adjusted yourself, I will accompany you to see your mother once more. Isn’t she in the capital? You still have a lot of time. There are still a lot of chances to convey your thoughts to her.”

Nell nodded her head and closed her eyes.

Gideon hugged her tightly and felt that the woman’s breathing had stabilized. At last, she fell asleep. He then smiled.

After that, he carried her to the bed.

Nell fell into a deep sleep.

She had a long and deep dream.

In her dream, she had returned to her childhood years. She had returned to the time when she was living in the Morrison mansion. She was wearing braids at that time. As she was playing on a swing, her grandfather was sitting on the rocking chair. He then smiled at her. After that, Cathy brought a plate of fruits and snacks. She then shouted happily, “Nelly, come and eat some fruit.”

Nell jumped off the swing and rushed towards her mother. However, she accidentally bumped into her mother as she was too excited. As such, the fruits and snacks fell on the ground.

She was frightened after seeing the fruits and snacks dropping to the floor. She then began to cry.

Cathy hastily comforted Nell as she tried to wipe away her daughter’s tears. “It’s alright. Nelly is a good girl. I know that Nelly didn’t mean to do it.

Don’t cry, okay?”

Tears began to silently stream down Nell’s face.

Maybe it was because she knew that the lady in her dreams would never comfort her again.

The lady would never give her warm hugs anymore. She would never give her love and protection at all times anymore.

That was why Nell had felt heartbroken.

Cathy was still alive, but Nell’s mother had already died.

Nell was raised in the Morrison family ever since she was a kid. She knew nothing about her biological mother, as well. As such, her only emotional support throughout the years was her adoptive mother.

However, now, she had lost her only emotional support.

Nell continued crying throughout the whole night. Eventually, she woke up.

Gideon, who was sleeping next to her, had realized that something was off. He then hugged her and comforted her in a gentle voice.

“Dear, don’t cry anymore. My heart hurts when you cry.”

Nell hugged him back tightly and buried her face in his embrace.

Her voice was muffled. “Gideon, I dreamed of my mother.”

Gideon was heartbroken.

Nell said in a muffled voice, “I want to see her.”

“Okay. Once the sun comes out, I will accompany you to see her later.”

Gideon kissed the tears on her face. He then said in a hoarse voice, “Let’s sleep a little longer. Once we get enough sleep, we will have enough energy to meet her. Am I right?”

Nell nodded her head.

She buried her face in his embrace and went to sleep.

On the second day, Nell and Gideon had appeared at the stone gambling site once more.

After the incident yesterday, Mr. Donnelly knew about her relationship with Cathy. Even though he was still surprised, he was glad to see the two of them.

Putting aside whether Nell and Cathy would acknowledge their relationship together, Mr. Donnelly knew about Cathy’s condition throughout the years.

He knew that her body was not in a healthy state. If she could find her family, then that would be a good thing.

He smiled as he led them into the guest room. After they were seated, he asked someone else to make some tea.

Gideon raised his hand to stop Mr. Donnelly.

“We don’t need any tea. I am sure that you know why we came here today.”

Mr. Donnelly paused as his face reddened in embarrassment.

He waved his hand to tell his secretary to go out. Then, he closed the door. After that, he turned around and looked at the two of them embarrassedly.

“I know why the two of you came here. However, I am just an outsider. As such, I can’t say much about it. If you wish to meet Miss Morrison, I can contact her for you. However, I cannot guarantee that she would want to meet you.”

Gideon kept a poker face. Nell then said, “I am not meeting her for now. However, I have a few questions for you. I hope that you can answer these questions honestly.”

Mr. Donnelly froze for a while before nodding his head.

“Alright, ask away. As long as it is something that I know about, I will tell you everything.”

Nell nodded her head and asked, “How did you get to know my mother?”

Mr. Donnelly began to tell the story about how he got separated from the tour group while he was traveling in the desert. He then told Nell the story about how he got lost and how Cathy and Sean rescued him by accident.
