Nell’s pinched her throbbing temples.

Old Madam Quinton continued, “Your foster mother... Is she well? Did you two acknowledge each other?”

Nell forced a smile. “She’s in good health, but she has some trauma from what happened ten years ago. She has lost her memory since and can’t remember anything now.”

On the other end, Old Madam Quinton gave a surprised “oh’.

“Well, it’s good that she doesn’t remember. It’s nothing happy anyway. It’ll just make her suffer if she remembers.”

Nell said softly, “Yes.”

Old Madam Quinton sighed again.

Nell smiled, feeling her heart warm up.

“Thank you, grandma. I understand.”

After dinner, Nell and Gideon sent Cathy and her husband back to the manor before heading home.

When it was only the two of them left, Gideon finally asked what Old Madam Quinton’s call was about.

Nell did not hide anything and told him the truth.

Holding her hand, Gideon reassured her. “Don’t worry, I’ll talk to Grandma. I believe she won’t mind if she knows about Mom’s situation.”

Nell nodded.

The next few days, Nell took Cathy and Sean around the entire capital.
