Chapter 998
Spoiled by the President
Gideon gave it a thought before recommending Mr. Donnelly to him.
Although Mr. Donnelly was a businessman, there were certain things that he might be able to lend a hand in.
After all, the many years of doing business in Country T did gain him far more extensive connections here compared to them. He probably could do a lot of good for them in this matter.
Gregory gave a nod and offered his gratitude before seeing them off.
By the time Nellâs party arrived back at the capital, it was already the afternoon. She wanted to invite Cathy and Sean to stay in Fengqiao Villa, but Cathy rejected the offer.
Tugging onto Nellâs arm, Cathy warmly smiled. âNelly, thank you. I may not be able to remember the past, but Iâm not afraid of people now. Iâm in a much better place than before, and itâs all because of you.â
Nell had been by her side in recent times, trying her utmost to shower Cathy with warmth and kindness. The majority of inhabitants in the world had kind hearts, and not everyone was out to get her.
The longer Cathy hung out with Nell, the defense wall she held up against the outside world began to crumble. Still, she was afraid when strangers got too close.
However, she was at least able to handle regular social activities. Cathy was no longer the same person she was when she first arrived at the capital, the nervous wreck upon encounter with a stranger. She had needed Seanâs constant company then.
Nell grinned. âThereâs no need to thank me between a mother and daughter. Iâm more than happy for you to get better.â
Noticing that they were not in a rush to leave the airport, Nell asked, âWhere are you guys going?â
Cathy joyfully answered, âWe have been away for too long on this trip. We plan to return today. Our original plan was to visit Country T, but I was reluctant to part with you, hence why I flew with you to the capital. Nevertheless, we have booked the next flight and will be leaving right away.â
Nell was in shock to find out about that. Feeling touched and a sense of longing, she held onto Cathyâs hand. âWhy are you going back so soon? I feel like I haven't talked much with you.â Her eyes turned red.
Cathy was also turning tearful. Nonetheless, she knew that compared to remaining in the capital, she would rather go back to the desert.
âItâs okay, Nelly. You can come to visit me whenever you have the time. Iâll send you the address of our residence. Donât we have WeChat? We can be in contact anytime.â
Nell wiped away her tears and smiled. âSure.â
After the exchange of words, they bade their farewells and parted ways.
Because Cathy and Sean had to move to another area to catch the flight while Nell and Gideon were leaving the airport, it was not convenient to send the former party off. Nell and Gideon saw the couple off from a distance before going their separate ways.
On the road back home, Nell was feeling rather down.
Aware of what was going on in her mind, Gideon held her hand and consoled her, âDonât be upset. Iâll go with you to the desert after Iâm done with work. Youâd be able to meet your mother again.â
Nell let out a grin and sighed. âI used to think nothing of separation, but now I realize, itâs really annoying.â
Gideon nodded. âIt is indeed very annoying.â
Once they were home, Nell and Gideon went to the old residence first to pick up the two little kiddos back home.
Having missed their parents, Lizzy and Little Viemond engaged in a show of affection upon the return of their parents. Finally, the sorrow that crept into Nell due to the painful farewell diminished a little.
Old Madam Quinton knew that Cathy had gone with them on the trip. After dinner, she pulled Nell aside and enquired concernedly, âIs everything okay with your mother?â
Nell nodded. âSheâs good. Her health is all better now though she canât remember the past.â
Old Madam Quinton was no stranger to her past, so of course, she knew about Cathy. She sighed. âIt might be best that she canât remember. Thereâs always pain and heartache in oneâs lifetime, and not everyone has the chance to forget. Itâs a great thing if your mother canât remember.â
Nell bobbed her head.
They did not stay at the old residence for long. They departed after chatting with Old Madam Quinton.
Back at Fengqiao Villa, Nell was having a bit of a headache. Perhaps because there had been too much shuttling back and forth today, she felt a stabbing pain like a pricking needle to the head.
Nervous, Gideon wanted to call the doctor over but she stopped him.
Nell grinned. âItâs not that bad. Youâll wake everyone up if you were to call a doctor this late. The kids are sleeping now. Donât stir them up.â
Gideon frowned. âBut your body...â
âIâm alright. I just need you to help me with a massage.â
She grabbed his hands and placed them on her temple.
Gideon was feeling helpless. Although he was still worried sick, her insistence saw him taking a seat behind her and pillowing her head on his lap. He gently applied pressure on her temples.
The bedroom was still and quiet as the pair did not exchange words.
Nellâs lips were slightly curled. For some reason, the soft sensation of his fingers on her head seemed to relieve her from most of the sharp pain.
Gazing at the weary look on her face, Gideon muttered, âSleep if youâre tired. Iâll be here to keep you company.â
Nell hummed in acknowledgment. Alongside his company, she quickly fell into a deep slumber.
It was very chilly late at night. Now that she was fast asleep, Gideon stopped his motions and carried her into bed before tucking her in.
He then adjusted the temperature in the room. Wrapping her in his arms, he joined her in dreamland.
The next day, it was already eight in the morning by the time Nell came to.
Gideon already seemed to be awake and was having his morning exercise downstairs.
As the door was pushed open from the outside, the heads of two little kiddos quietly peeked in from the crack. Noticing that she was awake, they cheered with joy and pounced in.
âMommy, Mommy, quick, look at the stars I folded.â
âMommy, Iâm not going to school today. Can you play with me?â
With a smile, Nell took the two kiddos into her embraces and dabbed their noses. âYou monkeys, only thinking about me playing with you. Have you finished your homework? Even if you donât have to go to school, isnât there any homework for you to complete? Have you completed it?â
The children frowned at the mention of homework.
âMommy, we will do it. You should play with us for a while.â

Seeing that their performance to invoke pity had worked to success, the children let out a cheer and nimbly climbed down from her.
Nell freshened up and had a change of clothes before accompanying them down the stairs.
Meanwhile, in the living room downstairs, Gideon was already done with his morning exercise.
