Chapter 1002
Spoiled by the President
Shimon could not be blamed for the flustered state he was in. After all, a family with such power took the back seat rather easily.
It did not sound right no matter how he racked his brain about it.
Jeff could read his mind.
He solemnly asked, âDo you still remember the name of the first leader of the Flinders family?â
Shimon was caught in a daze.
If his memory served his right, the first leader of the Flinders seemed to be named... Jefferson Flinders!
Thatâs right, that was the name.
He was hit with a realization. Though unbelievable, he still widened his eyes in disbelief.
Jeff curled his lips without saying a word.
Shimon clearly detected the certainty in Jeffâs eyes and the dignified presence that came with constant dwelling in supremacy.
He was blown away.
Louis chimed in at the right time. âYou should be greeting Lord Flinders!â
Pale in the face, Shimon broke out in cold sweat.
He shook his head in disbelief and mumbled, âIt-itâs impossible. How could this be...â
Indeed, as an atheist born in the new century, he simply refused to believe that a person could live for a thousand years in this world!
A millennium. His bones should have turned to ashes, or stones by now. How could he still be alive?
Shimonâs great dismay fell on the eyes of Jeff.
He did not find this surprising. Based on the education Shimon received and his outlook of the world, it would be strange if he was able to accept and believe that Jeff was from a thousand years ago immediately.
Jeff faintly smiled. Without a hurry, he picked up the cup of tea on the table and took a sip.
After putting the cup down, he answered, âNothing is impossible. It may sound fantastical but itâs not beyond the bounds of possibilities. Thereâs always miracles in the world, am I right?â
Louis who was nearby echoed his views. âYes, yes, yes, Master, you said it right.â
He was hand-picked by Jeff to take over as leader. The day that he took on the responsibility, he met with Jeff.
Unable to believe it at first, Louis was even unhappy that there was someone above him, a patriarch.
Nevertheless, he gradually came to understand over the years. The man before him had his own means and power, as well as a greater ability that far surpassed his.
If Louis did not listen to him, he would not only lose his position as the patriarch, but his life as well.
Moreover, Louis, a mere common man was no match against the mystery and strength behind this man.
Bit by bit, Louis was able to let go of the discontent clouding him.
Although Jeff was powerful, he was not very concerned about affairs pertaining to the family interest.
In his eyes, wealth and assets were only material things.
The life he lived was not lavish.
To get into Jeffâs good books, Louis had brought along treasures rare to even this century yet the former merely glanced through them with a blank face.
Later, Jeff even impatiently told him to take these treasures away and never to gift him such things again.
Louis then realized that this man had no interest in riches.
This seemed right. The whole Flinders family belonged to him. It could also be said that he single-handedly built up the family.
Why would he take a fancy to this measly wealth?
Jeff could get anything he wanted.
All it took was a word, a motion, or even just standing up to clarify his identity if he wanted the position as patriarch. Many people would then rely on him and follow him. There was no need for Jeff to make sure of someone else or gain anything through the hands of others.
Of course, there was also the possibility of non-believers.
However, Louis trusted that this man had his own ways and ability to turn unbelievers to believers.
The same went to Shimon.
Observing as cold sweat drenched Shimonâs pale face, Jeff faintly said, âItâs normal that you find it hard to accept this so suddenly. I can give you time and you will gradually adjust yourself.â
His tone was flat, as though he was talking about a trivial matter like eating or sleeping.
Jeff simply could not comprehend the turbulence of emotions stirring within Shimon.
Shimon stared at him for a while before he was barely able to regain composure.
He asked, âItâs not that I donât believe you but itâs just too hard to believe. Honestly speaking, if the patriarch wasnât present here, I would have thought... I would have thought...â
He lowered his head.
Jeff grinned.
Like a breeze along the bright moon, the smile was warm.
âThought what? That Iâm a liar?â
Burning with shame, Shimon nodded.
âThatâs normal.â
With a faint smile, he picked up the pot and poured tea into the empty cup on the table.
âIf you canât believe it, there still is one way to prove my authenticity.â
Out of the blue, he placed the teapot on the table and raised his arm.
An amazing thing happened.
Like magic, the cup in front of Shimon, following the lifting motion of his arm, flew to Jeffâs grasp in a swoosh.
Before Shimon could process how it happened, the cup was already in Jeffâs hand.
He widened his eyes in shock.
Jeff filled the cup with tea before putting it near Shimon. He smiled. âDo you believe me now?â
Fear had Shimon choking on his words.
What-what was this?
Telekinesis?
Did he perform magic?
With Shimon still in utter disbelief, Jeff sighed and shook his head with concern.
âFine, Iâll show you again since you still refuse to believe.â
He then lifted his head and instead of fixating on the cup in front of Shimon, Jeff turned towards a flower pot on a shelf three meters away from them.
Bearing a stiffened face, Jeff gave his wrist a little tug and as though enveloped in magic, the flower came swooshing over.
It landed on the palm of Jeffâs hand in a second.
He turned to Shimon once again.
âDo you believe me this time?â
Pale was not enough to describe Shimonâs complexion.
Color had completely washed off his face. He gave Jeff a look like he was staring at some monster.
After a while, he cried, âYou... What sorcery is this?â
Louis solemnly chided. âWatch your tongue. Is this how you talk to the master?â
Shimon was floored.
Raising his arm to stop Louis from running his mouth, he dully explained, âA long time ago, there were still martial arts that existed in the continent. Of course, you canât learn them even if you want to now. I merely started off in training very early on.
