WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?!?!?!

It means I went on holiday and had no proper wifi or tv (means no xbox) for 2 weeks, which meant I had plenty of time (when not being dragged around by my mum to shop for stuff) to stop procrastinating writing and start procrastinating school instead. YAY FOR ME :D

Plus the last chapter was really short to what I usually upload I feel.

I bet no one got the double thing.. it was an ad waaaay back when. It would be this large guy with a beard going

"DOUBLE RAINBOW! WHAT DOES IT MEAN??!?!" And everything would be double and it was probably the awesomest advertisement ever.

Except for Cadbury's "Wouldn't it be nice if the world was Cadbury?" Ad. Even though it somewhat supported Cannibalism, it was a great ad. I'd probably be a cannibal if that ad was true.

-Jesse's POV-

If I wasn't sitting in silence with the back of my head pressed up against the door, I probably wouldn't have heard Kaitlyn knock.

There was only one knock, which sounded like she had made with only one finger.

I opened the door for her, laughing silently.

'You didn't have to tread THAT carefully' I said at a normal indoor sound level.

'What? You said she was a lion!' She exclaimed in a hushed tone.

'Lions are heavy sleepers'

'Are they? Don't they have to be on guard for predators?'

I shrugged.

'I don't know, I couldn't really think of a better explanation' I laughed lightly.

'Youre such a loser sometimes' She said, before dragging me out of the room and down the hallway.

'Kaitlyn! Where are we going? At least let me close Val's door!' I exclaimed as she dragged me down the stairs towards the front door.

'Christian will do it, I need details and I need them now' She pulled me outside in the rain, straight to her car.

'Kaitlyn!' I yelled, trying to prevent water from falling all over me.

By the time we finally ran down the long driveway to her car, I was half soaked. I hopped in the car as quick as possible to get out the rain. Stupid London and its crying clouds.

'You know, if your car smells like a dog's ass after this just know its God's way of helping me serve you some payback' I frowned at her as she started the car.

'Oh quit whining, it was just a bit of rain' She said, clicking her seatbelt in.

I pulled mine down to do the same.

'Says the girl wearing a coat!' I exclaimed, clicking the seatbelt in.

'Do you not want to go to Macca's? We could always just sit here in the rain' She raised her eyebrows.

'Fine. But you're paying'

I could use some McDonalds right now.

I decided I should probably put my block up about now. Who knows how much Christan has been peeking in my mind, knowing him. It was stupid of me to keep myself unguarded straight after something like...

THAT.

When we got to Macca's, the place was practically empty. There was only a father and daughter sitting at the far end of the fast food restaurant, and a single tired teenage worker. She looked about my age.

Kaitlyn did actually pay for my 6 pack chicken nuggets and chocolate sundae, even though I didn't expect her to.

The bored teenager made me realize how sad having a job was.

But it also made me realize I needed to get off my lazy ass and get myself a job.

I don't want to have to depend on my mum. What if she kicks me out of the house or something? Then what?

'Hey, you don't happen to know if there are any openings for any jobs down this street do you?' I asked the teenager when Kaitlyn went off to get tomato sauce.

'You want a job? Really?' She looked shocked.

'Why? Does it suck that much?' I laughed lightly.

'Lets put it this way. If I didn't have a job, I would be having a social life and not handing out undercooked chips to people while the sky rains its ass off' She said, putting Kaitlyn's on the tray.

I laughed, shaking my head lightly.

'Im not too big on my social life anyway. Any job that wouldn't mind a clumsy 16 year old?'

I said clumsy for various reasons, but the one that stands out the most is the fact that if there's a job as a waitress, I would get kicked out.

I can barely carry a cup of coffee to someone without spilling it, let alone masses of food on a tray with one hand.

She seemed to understand what I meant.

'I think there's an opening down by the music store.. I was going to take the job but the hours didn't work for me. The pay isn't too bad, and there isn't much to do really. Its just playing around with the equipment and being nice when selling. There were two jobs available the last time I was there' She said.

'Where about's is it?' I asked her.

She pulled out a napkin from under the counter, a pen from her pocket and scribbled an address down.

'It'll be open tomorrow' She smiled, passing the napkin across the counter to me.

'Thanks' I smiled back, taking out my phone.

I pulled open the back cover to put the napkin in for safe keeping, a small slip of paper falling out.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, picking up the small paper slip.

It had a number on it, the name Jake underneath it with a smiley face.

I was even more confused at this point, until I remembered. Jason's Harry Potter glasses twin, from the arcade where Christan and I first met Valerie.

I never called or messaged him, he probably thinks I hate him or something. Crap.

I completely forgot about it being there!

'I didn't catch your name sorry?' I looked back up at the girl.

'Oh right, my name's Isabel-Lee, but everyone calls me Izzy'

'Mine's Jesse. Izzy, you wouldn't happen to be single would you?' I asked, looking back down at the number.

Ive never set anyone up before. This could work.

She was pretty, petite. Dark brunnete, brown eyes and Thai looking.

She was nice, he was nice. She was pretty, he was pretty attractive. They should be a cute couple right?

'I am but uh.. Jesse you've come off as a nice person and all but I don't really swing that way..' She said with discomfort, her hands going back to her sides.

It took me about 3 seconds to understand what she meant.

'Oh God! No I mean.. God I'm not! Not saying that its bad but I'm not! Completely and utterly straight and attracted to males' I panicked lightly, making her laugh with a slight sigh of okayness.

I cleared my throat before I spoke again.

'Its just that.. there's this guy who's number I forgot about.. my best friend looks almost alike to him and my best friend isnt too bad looking.. What would you say if I arranged a small date for you two?'

She contemplated it silently.

'If you like Harry from Harry Potter, I think you'll like him'

Don't judge me, I had to throw that in.

'Yes!! I mean.. yeah, sure. He shouldn't be so bad' She tried playing off being cool about it, but you could tell she was pretty excited.

'Alright. Well give me your number and I'll text you the details yeah?'

I got the napkin for the job, along with Izzy's number which I put into my phone.

The first thing I did as I walked back to the table was text Jake before I forgot.

The text said:

Sorry about not texting you before now. Its the girl from the arcade that day, Jesse? You free and still single Saturday?

That's about two days from now.. he'll probably say yes.

Almost rapidly I got a text back from Jake, before I even reached the table.

From: Jake

I thought you forgot about me :P I'm free. I hope you have someone coming to Starbucks on Main at 11 to make me unsingle.

And because the two customers other than Kaitlyn and I had left, I yelled back to where the counter was.

'Izzy! Starbucks on Main at 11! I promise he's cute, see you there!'

She gave me thumbs up along with a nod. I smiled, so I wouldn't do anything drastic that would plummet my food to the floor.

To: Jake

How did you know? I hope you like pretty brunettes.

Just don't use the Carly Rae Jepsen pick up line on her too, its horrible. We need to work on those.

And with that I tucked Tyler in my back pocket, setting my food on the table. At this table there was Kaitlyn, and mounds of tomato sauce.

'I thought you'd never show up' She grabbed her bag off the tray, opening and stuffing her face with chips in a split second.

I laughed, opening my nuggets.

'So what was that about?' She said with a mouthful of potato and grease, almost making me gag.

'Ill tell you when you've finished eating those chips. You're a gross eater' I cringed.

She just stuck her tongue out a little, chomping back down on her chips.

I finished my nuggets while Kaitlyn finished her burger, until we both only had our drinks left.

'So. I think if I ask you for details on your little kinky  smooch session first, I'll forget about the Macca's girl you're setting a date up for I believe?' Kaitlyn started, beckoning me to continue.

'Her names Izzy, and I asked her about getting a job at first actually' I said, before she interrupted me.

'Oh God, why would you want a job outside of the pack?' She asked confused.

'Well because of the incident that happened today, and because I'm a tyrant overall, my mother may decide to lock me out of the house one day. What money will I have then?'

'True that. But what happened today?'

'Ill get to that. But anyway, the job is at a music store. I'm just gonna go check it out, there might still be two openings' I stated, sipping her sprite.

She frowned and snatched it back, making me stick my tongue out slightly at her.

'You know.. if there are still two openings we could both work there? Would you mind if I came with?'

That phrase almost shocked me.

'What happened to "Why would you want a job outside the pack?"' I asked her curiously.

'Its a good way to kill time for cash, plus I get to hang with someone I consider one of my besties' She made me smile widely, considering I've had no one around but Christian recently.

'Thanks Kaitlyn. It means alot' I smiled.

'No problem. Now. THE KISS DETAILS PLEASE' She almost begged, making me laugh.

Odd child.

Oh hell I'd probably do that same thing so.. I can't blame her.

I told her the story from the end of dinner where Theodore talked to me, up to the point where I put Valerie to sleep.

I told her the things running through my mind at every scene, and she simply sat in silence and heard me out.

It felt good to know that someone was listening.

'-Yeah so.. what if Mum kicks me out because of me doing something she clearly doesn't want to happen? That's why I need a job. Plus I'm just really lazy' I finished.

'Youre mates right?' Kaitlyn asked.

'Well... as much as I wouldn't like to be, hell I kind of don't mind anymore.. yeah' I stumbled.

I'm not yet quite sure where this leaves Christan and I.

I don't know what he was thinking after that. I bet he knows what I was, cause he's a nosy ass when I don't put up my block. Which I didn't because he left me dazed and lovesick.

'So your mum wouldn't care right? She wouldn't keep you away from your mate' Kaitlyn said, making me almost laugh at loud.

'You aren't her daughter. After my dad.. passed, she wouldn't talk, let alone move. Whenever I tried talking to she would start crying, saying that I reminded her too much of him. After that whole phase she kind of.. didn't like to care about me like she did before. I mean, she's my mum and loves me and all, but not as much. She'll put her needs ahead of mine nowadays, meaning if she wants family stability, she'll get her family stability.

Its like she wants to make a perfect family and start fresh with this one, but the moon goddess likes to mess things up like that.

I just don't want her to be depressed again you know? I want her to be happy'

'But doesn't her happiness cause you to be unhappy?' Kaitlyn asked, looking concerned at my motives.

'Well yeah. But she's been through too much to be unhappy again' I mumbled.

'Youve been through alot too. Jess it wasn't just her family who died, it was yours as well. You had friends, but at a younger age it effects you more don't you think? Plus you're putting yourself through the pain of pushing your mate away to lose him. Isnt that so much worse than losing him by another cause?' She looked slightly angry now, like I wasn't making the right decision.

'Kate I can't! Its not good for him either! He's going to become Alpha soon, and I can't be the one by his side! He needs someone strong, who can lead and put the packs needs first. I can't let other packs look down on us because of me, and because of the whole incest thing'

'Okay 1: Technically you aren't related, so it isn't incest. And 2: This isnt about your mum or anything else as much is it? You're just afraid of letting him down if you be with him. You're self conscious that you won't be good enough right?'

'Ive never been good enough. My family died because of me Kaitlyn. He's too.. perfect for me to bring a burden on him' I dropped my head down, unable to think anymore.

I love him too much to hurt him with something like me.

'Jess! Open your eyes! Even if you couldn't speak or hear Christan would still love you! Even if you were the ugliest girl he would think you were the most beautiful! He's freaking in love with you, and you're hurting him more by not accepting him. I think.. go for it. Forget what other people think and just go for it' She leant back in her chair, as if resting her case.

Maybe she's right.

'Maybe you're right. Ill see what happens' I said.

I decided then I wouldn't push anything away. I would let it happen. I wouldn't stop myself from getting close to me just because of my mother, or because I was too self conscious. I wouldn't push him away to the point where he would leave.

I've been the stupid one all along.

'To be honest I don't know how you've stayed away from him this long. I'm surprised you aren't in heat yet' Kaitlyn added, making my eyes go wide.

'Heat?'

'You know, after a certain time of not accepting a mate, a female will go into a heat where every other male wolf will want to mate with her, mated or not?' She asked.

I've heard of that before. I didn't realize I had a chance of getting it though.

Heat is like the measels for me.

You have the injection to make you better, but you won't take it because it hurts. Most people don't get sick from the measels, but you will when the measel wave comes round, because you refused the injection.

Christan can prevent me getting heat by you know.. mating with me properly. But I've only just kissed him, I'm not going to jump him and beg him for sex the next time I see him. I'm not ready just yet.

Its only been about two months that I've known him. I'm not ready for that kind of commitment.

'Guess I'm going to have to lock myself in my room for a week then' I shrugged.

The bell at the entrance of the door to McDonalds rung out loud, Kaitlyn and I both looking up to the door.

The two people I least expected to walk in showed up.

Jason and Hannah.

They were such a cute couple when ordering, I was going to cry.

Hannah turned around, and immediately saw Kaitlyn and I.

'Hey! Guys!' She waved, walking towards us with Jason behind her.

'Hey Han' I said, Kaitlyn waving back to her.

'Any place for two more?' Jason asked.

'Duh' I rolled my eyes, making Kaitlyn sit beside me so they could slide into the booth with us.

'So how ya'll doing? Are you.. you know?' Kaitlyn smirked suggestively.

'Kaitlyn!' Hannah's cheeks went bright red, immediately looking down at her plate.

'What? Just wait till you turn 16 Han, then you wont be able to hide it' Kaitlyn stuck her tongue out at Hannah.

Hannah picked up some fries and threw them at Kaitlyn, making me laugh.

'Hey Jess? Could we talk?' Jason said awkwardly, as if he had just remembered something.

'Yeah Jase. How about the playgroud?' I stood up, stealing a bite of his burger.

He looked up at me with a frown as I handed his burger back.

'I would have expected you to buy two burgers by now. Come on loser' I shuffled my hand in his hair, just to annoy him lightly.

'Ugh you know I hate it when you do that' He stood up, trying to fix his hair.

He quickly kissed Hannah on the cheek, whispering something in her ear before coming with me.

'God I feel like I haven't seen you in ages, you and Ness. We used to be the freaking trio of life!' I exclaimed as we stepped into the playground.

'I know right! Ness has been too busy with Nick, I swear they never leave each others side' Jason shook his head sadly, before climbing up the slide.

'Come on! Dont tell me you still can't climb up a slide' Jason yelled from inside the plastic jungle gym.

'That was like 8 years ago Jase!' I yelled back, going in the slide the wrong way up.

He was right. I still couldn't climb up the McDonalds slide the wrong way up. It was just too slippery and round and les spaced.

'Ha! I knew it' He leaned his hand down and pulled me up, just like he used to before.

We both sat in the tight spaced McDonalds jungle gym, while I grumbled quietly.

'I could've done it myself'

'We both know you couldnt have' He stuck his tongue out at me.

I clamped my hand over his tongue and shoved it back in his mouth, holding my hand there.

He began licking my hand, making me feel grosser by the second.

I yanked my hand back, wiping it on the sleeves of what I know to be his favourite shirt. It was a Star Wars one.

'My hand feels disguisting now. Thanks' I frowned.

He just laughed, till we fell into a silence.

'Jess I don't think we've talked about it but its clear we're both not together right? Cause you have Christan and I'm kind of in love with someone who I think might be my mate' He said.

'I don't even think we were a proper couple were we? We kissed like twice and never even went out on a date. At the most we were together for a week where we didnt even see each other properly' I laughed, making him laugh too.

'Im sorry for being an awful one-week boyfriend. But it was both ways, you were a sucky one-week girlfriend too. You rode away on another guy's ride the day we got together' He laughed.

'Yeah yeah, Jannah is so much cuter than.. us who weren't together long enough to recieve a ship name. Best friends again?' I held out my hand.

He took my hand.

'Really best friends. So much that our kids will be forced to be friends, cause you'll be the godmother anyway' Jason smiled, shaking my hand.

'Good. If you didn't make me the godmother of little Jannah I would've slapped you repeatedly till you did' I smirked, finishing off the handshake.

'Shall we go? My half eaten burger awaits'
