Chapter 111
Back to the Past: Breaking the Love Spell
Shania replied dejectedly, âAll I know is that heâs a student at Riverland University.
Her contacts at Retrovintique copied the surveillance footage and sent the buyerâs photo of Harold
Delacruzâs genuine piece to the school. However, they only provided a phone number.
Lethan asked curiously, âWhy did you call him, and what did Lyrene mean by the 6 million dollars?â
Shania was about to speak when Lyrene shot her a warning glance.
Lethan chuckled resigned/y
I
âLyrene, I know I messed up. Go ahead, give me a beating!â
He had once hit Lyrene over Quinn, and she had ignored him ever since.
Lyrene gave him a cold glance. âGet up. Donât come looking for me or Shania anymore.â
Lethanâs eyes welled up. âLyrene, are you going to hate me forever?â
Lyrene frowned. âDo I need to repeat myself?â
With a heavy sigh, Lethan stood up and left the office.
Shania gently advised, âLyrene, letâs leave the past behind us. As siblings, we should try to get along.â
Lyrene stood up, smoothed out her dress, and said calmly, âIâm heading back to the county to look after
Dad. Take care of yourself. Remember what I said: stay away from Lethan⦠and trust no one but me.â
With that. Lyrer
With that, Lyrene walked away, leaving Shania staring after her in a daze.
After a while, she sighed. âWhy does it have to be this way?â
As Lyrene got into her BMW, she dialed Sheinâs number.
Shein answered with a laugh, âDid the sun rise from the west today? You called me!â
Lyrene responded flatly, âWe missed our chance with the vacant land in Riverwatch District.â
Shein drummed his fingers on the desk. âNot even a sliver of opportunity?â
Lyrene simply responded with a soft âHmm.â
Shein sighed, feeling a headache coming on. âI hope my intel is wrong. If Riverwatch District gets
developed and Evermore Properties beats us to it, Yuriel will dominate the real estate sector.â
After a moment of silence, Lyrene asked, âWhen will we have confirmation?â
Shein took a sip of water and whispered, âThe city council has a meeting set in three days. Weâll likely
get the latest updates by noon on the third day.â
Without another word, Lyrene hung up the phone.
Carlisle led Cameron into the studio and introduced him to Heath and the others.
Heath offered Cameron a cigarette and said, âNice to meet you! Weâre like family from now on!â
âThanks, Heath, but I donât smoke,â Cameron politely declined and added, âIâm new here, so Iâm really.
looking forward to learning from you.â
After checking his bank account balance, Carlisle opened a text message from Yuriel.
âHelp Cameron get settled in. Iâve got some errands to run,â Carlisle Instructed.
Then, he grabbed the painting and headed out to Rickâs Cafe.
Carlisle knew that Yuriel trusted him because he had the means to find him easily through his
connections.
He dared not entertain other thoughts as he was dealing with Riverlandâs wealthiest.
Moreover, business dealings required honesty.
Arriving at Rickâs Cafe, Carlisle spotted five Mercedes parked outside.
He walked over to find Yurielâs car. Yuriel was chatting with a rosyâcheeked old man.
Seeing Carlisle, Yuriel greeted him with a smirk, âHere he isâ¦â
Carlisle walked over and handed the painting to Yuriel.
Yuriel gave a wry smile. âBy having close to ten million when youâre this young, youâre way ahead of
99% of people your age with that money.â
It would be disingenuous to say Yuriel didnât regret spending 8.6 million dollars on something that
couldâve been purchased for just tens of thousands.
Carlisle modestly smiled. âThank you, Mr. Gust!â
Yuriel then handed the painting to the elderly man beside him for authentication.
