Chapter 226
Back to the Past: Breaking the Love Spell
Even without a phone, the school had newsletters coveting local news in Riverland, right? They wondered
If Sean had ever read one.
Austin was momentarily surprised, then laughed and turned to a nearby rich kid, saying, âTell him who I
am!â
Before the rich kid could speak, Sarah quickly said, âSean, this is my boyfriend, Austin.â
Sean sneered, âI thought he was-â
Lily tugged on Seanâs sleeve and whispered, âAustinâs the son of the richest man in town!â
Seanâs heart skipped a beat, and his eyes went wide.
âThe wealthiest manâs son? Sarah actually landed him?
âHoly crap! Why didnât Carlisle say anything earlier?â Sean groaned inwardly.
Sienna shot Sean a disdainful look and taunted, âWhatâs the matter? Are you chickening out of throwing a punch now?â
Sean was seething with anger but remained silent
Sienna was Sarahâs best friend. Sarahâs alliance with Austin, the townâs most powerful figure, gave significant influence.
More importantly, Sean couldnât risk dragging Lily and Carlisle into trouble over a moment of anger.
Carlisle stepped in, saying, âSean, letâs go.â
Sean nodded and followed Carlisle out.
Sienna, however, refused to let the matter go.
She blocked Seanâs path, taunting, âLeaving already? Not so fast!â
Sean looked down, visibly shaking. He couldnât muster any bravado in front of Austin.
Carlisle asked calmly, âWhat do you want?â
With her arms crossed, Sienna demanded, âI want him to apologize to me!â
With a smile, Carlisle asked, âDid he hit you?â
âHe insulted me.â
Sienna looked up and locked eyes with Carlisle.
Carlisle glanced at Austin and mouthed something. Sienna understood. It was two words.
She immediately turned to Sarah and blurted out, âSarah, Carlisle insulted me!â
her
Sarah looked at Carlisle calmly, demanding. âApologize to my friend.â
âWhat if I donât?â Carlisle challenged.
âYou gonna call the cops on me?â
This time, Carlisle decided to have his friendâs back.
When Sean was severely beaten last time, Carlisle had simply kept quiet. But now, he couldnât stand by and watch Sean be mistreated again.
Sarah, feeling helpless, turned to Austin with a frustrated plea.
âAustin, do somethingâ¦â
Austin narrowed his eyes at Carlisle.
âSo, youâve bought Riley Phones?â
Carlisle grinned insincerely.
âYouâre wellâinformed, Mr. Gust.â
Austin lit a cigarette and said, âIf you apologize to Sienna, weâll let this go. Otherwise⦠your phone company might run into some issues.â
Seanâs eyes widened slightly, and he stepped forward, whispering to Carlisle, âMaybe we should just swallow our pride and say sorry. We can always pick our battles another day.â
With his hands in his pockets, Carlisle walked over to Austin with a smile and leaned in to whisper something in his ear.
Austinâs hand holding the cigarette trembled slightly. A cold glint flickered in his deep eyes.
Carlisleâs lips curled into a sly grin.
âSean, letâs go.â
âHuh?â Sean was caught off guard.
He couldnât believe they could leave just like that and wondered what Carlisle had said to Austin.
âLetâs go!â Lily pulled Sean toward the exit.
âAustin, should we stop them?â asked two rich kids next to Austin.
âLet them go,â Austin narrowed his eyes and said through clenched teeth.
