Chapter 276
Back to the Past: Breaking the Love Spell
Chapter 276
Heath, Benjamin, and Owen were standing in front of a BMW parked nearby, Heathâs arm was in a sling. and Owen was sporting bruises on his face. The latter also looked like he had lost weight since a week
ago.
Benjamin gave Carlisle an earnest smile as he said, âHey, Carlisle. Itâs been a while.â
Carlisle returned his smile. âTell your men to fall back.â
He had only just said this when the sound of fighting broke out behind him. Carlisle shook his head in exasperation as he made his way to his Mazda.
âCarlisle,â Owen called out, catching up to him. âIâve given it some thought, and I figured Iâm better off
working at the studio.â
Carlisle slid into his car and asked Indifferently, âWhy the change of mind?â
Benjamin laughed as he interjected, âBecause he almost died.â
Assessing the bruises on Owenâs face, Carlisle asked, âWho did that to you?â
Owen flushed red. âIt doesnât matter. Can we talk about something else?â
Carlisleâs lips curled. âI saved you a spot at the studio. You can go back anytime.â
After exchanging pleasantries with Heath and the others, Carlisle had Francis drive away.
They had driven quite some distance before Daniel snapped out of his daze and exclaimed, âI canât believe youâve got Prince Heath working for you! Youâre amazing, Carlisle!â
Carlisle ignored him and instead turned to ask Olivia, âDo you need money that badly?â
Olivia pursed her lips and nodded. âMy momâs suffering from lateâstage uremia and requires dialysis to stay alive. The medical expenses pile up every month.â
âI doubt 1800 dollars is enough to cover them,â Carlisle pointed out after a beat of silence.
âIt covers two monthsâ worth of medical bills,â Olivia retorted, her voice breaking as tears streaked down her face and dropped onto the backs of her hands.
Daniel sighed. âI have a cousinâinâlaw who has uremia. Itâs not exactly curable. Unless the patient undergoes a kidney transplant, dialysis is the only way for them to stay alive.â
Olivia wiped away her tears. âAfter my mom was diagnosed with uremia, my dad divorced her and left the family.
almy
âThe money from Shane and thy wages from my partâtime job arenât enough to cover the cost olmy momâs dialysis.â
Carlisle had assumed responsibility over Olivia the moment he stepped into that hair salon to rescue her. You should focus on your studies. Let me worry about your momâs treatment costs.â
1800 dollars was equivalent to two monthsâ worth of medical bills, then Oliviaâs momte dialysis would cost just over ten thousand dollars a year. Carlisle could afford to help.
âYou⦠Olivia gaped at Carlisle. âAre you serious about this?â
âDo I look like Iâm joking?â Carlisleâs lips twitched into a smile.
Olivia shook her head in disbelief. This man before her had risked his life to save herâshe doubted he was the type to joke about these sorts of things.
âThank you! I promise to pay you back after I graduate and get a job!â Olivia lowered her head and let her tears fall. The thought that she nearly sold her virginity filled her with shame.
She owed Shane far too much, and now, she was indebted to his roommate as well. Carlisle wouldnât have offered to help her if he werenât Shaneâs friend.
âWhere to, Boss?â Francis asked from the driverâs seat.
*A1 Seafood Restaurant,â Carlisle answered. âDaniel, call Shane and have him meet us there for lunch.â
âRoger that!â Daniel pulled out his phone and gave Shane a call.
Olivia felt uneasy as she said, âCould you guys let me off at that corner over there? I need to go to the hospital to see my mom.â
Carlisle said nothing, and as such, Francis kept driving.
Olivia gave Carlisle a pleading look. âI want to get off.â
Carlisle smiled at her humorlessly and questioned, âYouâre afraid of seeing Shane, arenât you?â
âI canât ever make it up to him for what I did.â Olivia sobbed. âHow am I supposed to face him?â âHe doesnât know about this. Besides, itâs not as if you actually sold yourself,â Carlisle reminded. âWait, he doesnât know? How did you guys find out about it then?â Olivia asked.
Neither Carlisle nor Daniel offered her an explanation.
Upon arriving at A1 Seafood Restaurant, Carlisle was told by the receptionist that the private dining rooms were all occupied.
With two universities recently finishing their orientation programs, many students had gathered at the restaurant to blow off some steam,
As such, Carlisle had the staff set up a table outside.
Meanwhile, Wanda was dining with one of her clients in a private dining room on the second floor.
The client was a man in his 40s, and next to him was a plump woman.
Christine couldnât stop staring at them. The man looked somewhat familiar to her, but she couldnât quite put her finger on it.
Wanda suddenly looked up and asked him, âIs your surname Zahn?â
