Chapter 340
Back to the Past: Breaking the Love Spell
Eight of the assailants stepped out of their cars, each wielding a submachine gun.
âShitâ¦â Joshua trembled with fear.
He dropped the kitchen knife and sprinted back into the town.
He yelled, âRun! They have guns!â
The town residents had never seen such a scene. A wave of panic washed over them. They dropped their
tools and scattered in all directions.
Treyâs smile froze on his face. It took him a good ten seconds to recover.
âA bunch of traitors and cowards⦠Itâs really disheartening!â he muttered bitterly.
Shein sighed lightly.
âItâs not their fault. Mr. Collins, you should head back into the town too. Their target is me.â
âWhat are you saying? Do you think Iâm the kind of person who would abandon you out of fear?â Trey
responded angrily.
Shein chuckled, feeling a bit comforted.
Despite Treyâs usual grumbling, he didnât abandon Shein in the face of danger. This loyalty reassured
Shein that his investments in the town werenât entirely wasted.
More than 20 assailants entered the town, brandishing long, gleaming knives.
Trey caught sight of the weapons and gulped nervously.
He then forced a stern expression and said, âThat little brat Joshua has disappointed me. Iâll drag him back, we canât have him let you down like this!â
With that, he strode toward his home.
Shein smiled wryly. He couldnât blame Trey. Anyone would be terrified in this situation. He was scared
too, but fear wouldnât help him now.
Soon, more than 20 assailants reached Shein.
The group leader pulled a few photos from his pocket for comparison, then said with a smile, âYou must be Shein Thompson.â
Shein took a deep breath.
âYes, Iâm Shein Thompson.â
The leader praised, âYouâre not scared at all. As expected from a wellâexperienced tycoon. Donât worry. Weâre only here for money. We donât intend any harm.â
Shein felt a bit relieved when he heard they were only there for money.

âHow much do you want?â
The leader held up three fingers,
Shein chuckled.
âThree million dollars?â
The leader burst into laughter and turned to his comrades.
âMr. Thompson has quite a sense of humor.â
His accomplices laughed along.
Shein continued, âWell, 30 million dollars wouldnât be out of the question.â
The leaderâs smile faded, replaced by a sinister expression.
âMr. Thompson, do you think your life is worth just 30 million dollars?â
Shein narrowed his eyes slightly.
âYou want 300 million dollars?â
The leader laughed again.
*300 million dollars wouldnât even dent your empire, would it?â
Without waiting for Shein to respond, he added, âBesides, the 300 million dollars isnât just for your life. Itâs for the lives of your entire family.â
âDad!â
Zacharyâs voice came from behind.
Shein turned to look.
He saw Zachary and Wanda being escorted by over a dozen assailants. Their bodyguards were bound,
with socks stuffed in their mouths.
Shein resignedly closed his eyes, feeling a heavy weight on his chest.
The leader smiled and said, âMr. Thompson, do you still think 300 million isnât worth it?â
Shein replied calmly, âI can give you the money, but I need to contact my companyâs finance department.â
The leader took out a phone and handed it to Shein.
âWe have a mobile base station in the car. You can make a call with this phone.â
Shein caught the phone and djaled the number for the finance department. Zachary and Wanda were pushed next to him, both pale with fear.
Zachary asked in a low voice, âDad, how much are they asking for?â
Shein didnât respond.

The call connected.
He finally spoke, âThis is Shein. Transfer 300 million dollars immediately.â
The leader interjected, âI want cash.â
Shein sneered.
âDo you know what 300 million in cash looks like?â
The leader fired several shots into the air, then aimed his gun at Wanda.
âMr. Thompson, youâre a busy man, and I have limited patience. I suggest you stop asking unnecessary questions.â
