Chapter 98
Back to the Past: Breaking the Love Spell
Daniel was startled to see Carlisle lying on the bed opposite him. âHoly crap, Carlisle⦠When did you
get
back?â
âAbout three minutes ago,â Carlisle replied nonchalantly.
âDamn, youâre lying!â
âOh?â Carlisle grinned. âWhat mischief have you been up to?â
Danielâs face turned red with embarrassment. âWhat are you talking about?â
Carlisle chuckled at his answer. âIsnât it obvious?â
âBelieve what you want.â Daniel smiled awkwardly before tossing the tissue he was holding into the
trash
car
Carlisle put on his shoes and left the room, leaving the unpleasant smell of the dormitory behind.
He decided to move out tomorrow and find a new place to live. The dormitory environment was simply
unbearable.
Carlisle went to the roof to call Hank. He intended to recruit some programmers from him to form a
research and development team.
They would first have to develop an operating system to create a smartphone. However, there was the
cost of research and development.
Carlisle pinched the bridge of his nose and decided against calling Hank.
The cost of research and development, along with salaries, was a challenge.
The profits from the studio probably wouldnât be enough to cover the research and development costs.
Just then, Carlisleâs phone rang. It was his mother.
Carlisle quickly answered the phone, âHello, Mom.â
âSon, you donât have class today, do you?â
âNo classes on the weekend!â Carlisle replied with a soft smile.
Hilda then said, âYou little rascal, did you not even think to call when you are on break!â
âHey, Iâve been a little busy!â Carlisle laughed awkwardly, realizing he hadnât called home since he
started
college.
Hilda didnât press further. Instead, she asked, âHowâs school? Have classes started?â
âNot yet. Itâll probably start next week!â
âSon, have you seen Owen lately?â Hilda inquired suddenly.
Chapte
âOwen⦠Heâs⦠Heâs with molâ
Hayley must have realized that Owen wasnât at school and asked Hilda to check with Carlisle.
To ease Hayleyâs worries, he had to come clean.
âWere you the one who told him to go there?â Hildaâs tone had turned Icy.
âYes, it was my idea!â
Hilda lost her temper. âDo you know how worried his mother was? She was on the verge of calling the
police!â
âMom, Owen skips class every day to go gaming. Heâs not learning anything useful at school. Itâs better
for him to earn money with me than to waste time there!â Carlisle explained.
âYou⦠Youâre still in school, arenât you?â Hildaâs voice carried a hint of panic, fearing that Carlisle had
abandoned his studies.
âIâve started a game studio, and Owen works there. Iâm still going to school, so it wonât affect my
studies!â
Hilda felt somewhat relieved.
âCan a game studio make money?â
âDonât worry, it definitely can. Talk to Mrs. Woods and tell her to relax. Besides, Iâll have Owen call her
tomorrow. If she doesnât believe us, she can come to Riverland and see for herself!â
âAlright, I trust you.â
Hilda remembered Carlisleâs confidence about getting into Riverland University, so she believed his
studio would make money, too.
After a short pause, Hilda added, âYour grandfatherâs birthday is tomorrow. Remember to call him,
okay?â
âAh⦠Grandpaâs birthdayâ¦â Carlisleâs pupils shrank sharply as he suddenly recalled a news article he
had seen at his grandfatherâs birthday party in his previous life.
