CHAPTER 108
Winning Her Heart Back
Chapter 108 A Pet
William hung up the phone without saying another word.
Emelle tossed her phone aside and rummaged for some lozenges while coughing, After taking one, her coughing gradually subsided.
Once she felt better, she booked her ticket and boarded the highâspeed trail to head back to Capebatt City.
As Envelle arrived at Capebatt City station and prepared to exit, she noticed a familiar figure.
Upon closer inspection, she realized it was Daphne.
They werenât too far from each other, so Daphne noticed her, too.
Although Emelie wore a mask due to her coughing, Daphne recognized her from her eyes and figure.
Daphne was with a middleâaged woman who bore some resemblance to her. Emelse assumed it was her mother.
Daphne didnât avoid Emelieâs gaze. Her eyes were bright, but Emelie couldnât discem her emotions.
Just then, Emelieâs phone rang. Glancing at the screen, she noticed it was an unknown mumber calling
âHello, who is this?â!
âIâm calling from LifeLine Hospital. Are you Greta Loweâs family?
Emelie was stunned for a moment before replying, âYes, I am.â
âWe just got a notification that a donor heart matching Ms. Loweâs criteria is available. She can undergo surgery now.â
Emelle was instantly overwhelmed with joy. âReally? Thereâs a heart available?
âYes, so itâs best for you to bring her to the hospital tomorrow. The heart is currently in Eprand but will soon be transported here.
âMs, Lowe needs to start preparing for the surgery.â
Emelle immediately agreed. âOkay, Iâll bring my mom to the hospital tomorrow.â
After hanging up the phone, she couldnât contain her joy. This news completely dispelled the gloom and despair she had been feeling recently.
Waiting for a donorâs heart was extremely difficult.
Emelie had researched and found out that thousands of people were waiting for a heart every day.
Donors had to sign up for organ donation, and only after an accident or natural death could they receive a heart.
Even with a heart available, successful transplantation depended on matching, which had a very low probability.
That was why the doctor said some patients might never get a heart even after they passed away.
They were undoubtedly fortunate to get one so quickly,
Emelie Immediately called home. Ronan was overjoyed. âThatâs great Till tell Ebana and Billy. Theyâll come pickus up tomorrow to go to the hospital.
âYou just go directly to the hospital. Thereâs no need to come back here. Donât tire yourself out too much.â
These were all minor matters. Emelle agreed, âokay.â
As she exited the station, she saw Mona waiting to pick her up. she ran over and hugged her.
âMona, the hospital has found a match for my momâs heart. She can have the surgery!â
Mona was also very happy for her, so she took Emelie to eat & barbecue.
They ordered a whole table of meat. Nolicing Emelleâs weight loss in just a week, Mona couldnât help but worry.
She kept piling food on Emelieâs plate.
Emelie was in a good mood. She said with a smile, âIâm fine. My priority is my momâs recovery. Everything else can wait.â
Mona hesitated before saying, âIf you really canât find a job, maybe you should just.. surender to him.â
When comered, even the strongest would have to yield. Emelie was clearly outmatched by William. Surrendering to him again to make ends meet didnât seem like a big deal.
Emelie cut a slice of beef from the beet rib as she said, âThereâs no way Iâm surrendering to him this time, Mona.â
She couldnât forget how William tried to give her off or his cruel words about her being a slut whom he was tired of sleeping with.
She could live even without him.
They were at a famous local barbecue restaurant. During meal times, it was always bustling with customers.
At the table behind them, a man with his back to Emelie had a leen hearing and caught what she said. He took a sip of his water and smirked.
No way she was surrendering?
