Chapter 152 Blocked

Emelie Instinctively looked in William’s direction. However, she only saw a car leaving in the dark.

Samuel lowered his gaze and looked at her foot. “You’re not hurt, are you?”

When Emelie went downstairs to throw away the trash, she ran into Samuel. He was worried about her and Mona, so he came after class.

As Emelie walked toward him, she accidentally stepped into a small pit. Fortunately, Samuel caught her in time. “I’m fine. I’m not wearing heels.”

“How’s your friend?”

“She’s been asked to quit her job. The police and lawyers can’t find a good solution, so she decided to drop the case.”

Samuel’s glasses shone under the lights. “Are you really going to do that?”

Emelie shook her head. They knew who did it, but they couldn’t do anything about it. It would only tire them out.

Samuel looked into her eyes. “Can you let it go just like that?”

Emelie’s gaze was cold. “No. I’ll remember this.”

One day, she would get her revenge.

William returned to Westward Club. Elias and Lyle were still there, and they asked where he had gone. He said nothing and quietly drank a glass of wine.

As the alcohol warmed up his body, the fire in his chest was getting stronger. He started to lose his patience.

Suddenly, he received a message from an unfamiliar number. He casually tapped it and saw two pictures.

They weren’t clear and looked like they were taken a few years ago. However, it was easy to tell who was in the pictures.

It was Daphne. She was kissing a young man.

William narrowed his eyes.

The number that sent the message was a virtual phone number, and he couldn’t call it. He forwarded the number to Lyle.

“Lyle, help me trace this number.”

Lyle received it and asked nothing. “Sure,” he said.

Then, William received a message from Daphne, asking if he had reached his house.

He blocked her right away.

Although Mona said she would let it go, she couldn’t do the same to her relationship. The next day, she went to Hugo’s company and looked for him. However, it seemed like privacy was a thing of the past. Mona’s pictures had leaked from her company and spread to Hugo’s company.

Mona was passionate and beautiful, and Hugo would always bring her to meet his colleagues. So, they all could tell it was Mona. They purposely brought it up and asked Hugo about it.

Hugo didn’t want his colleagues to say he was cheated on, so he said he was just messing with Mona. He even shared pictures of him and Mona with them, as if it could stop him from being humiliated.

Mona went there to save her relationship. After learning what had happened, she fought with him at his company. Someone called the police, and they were brought to the station. When Emelie got the call, she rushed to see Mona.

At the sight of Emelie, Mona jumped into her embrace and cried. She kept scolding Hugo and called him a bastard.

Mona had scratched Hugo’s face. He said calmly and cruelly, “I’m not making peace with her. Lock this crazy bitch up! Jail her!”

Emelie coldly looked at him, “Let’s ask the police if defaming others through fake pictures or getting in a fight has the worst punishment.”

“No one was fighting her. She was the only one hitting me. Also, what fake pictures? Those were real! It was her!”

“Oh, really? If they weren’t fake, that means you’re publicly sharing real pictures to tarnish her image. Officer, if I remember correctly, the punishment for that is worse, right?

“Plus, he invaded my friend’s privacy. Not only is that a crime, but I can even sue you for it.”

Emelie knew a lot about the law.

Hugo was speechless. He didn’t expect Emelie to be so smart. In the end, he decided to make peace and said he wouldn’t pursue the matter further. He wanted to forget about everything.

However, Mona wasn’t having it anymore. She looked at the man she once loved and yelled, “Even if I get locked up for beating you up, I still want to sue you! I want you to be jailed too!”

Finally, Hugo was locked up for spreading the pictures.

Emelie had Hugo in her grasp. If he didn’t let go of Mona for beating him up, Emelie would sue him. So, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and sign an agreement to end it amicably.

Mona was lectured at the police station and could leave after that.

After leaving the station, she crouched by the side of the road and buried her head between her knees. Then, she started crying silently.

For a long time, Emelie had a feeling that Hugo wasn’t reliable. However, Mona was deeply in love. Of course, Emelie wouldn’t say anything about it now and comfort her friend.

Mona looked up at Emelie and said self–mockingly, “What a mess.‘

Emelie was stunned for a moment and held her tongue.

Her ending with William was a mess as well.

Emelie brought Mona back to their apartment. Before they went upstairs, she saw a familiar car by the road.

She quietly sent Mona back to her room first before heading back down again.

Emelie got closer to the car and looked at the number plate. As expected, it was William. He was clearly waiting for her.

She approached the car, and the window rolled down, showing a man’s cold face.

“Can I help you, Mr. Middleton?”
