Chapter 17
Winning Her Heart Back
Chapter 17 Pissing Off William
âFuck me⦠I sure hope that bitch and that asshole never get tired of each other!â Mona exclaimed.
Emelle had cleared out her desk at the office that very day and headed straight home. Mona couldnât help but be intrigued by such a bold move. E
After Mona questioned Emelie about what happened, Emelie finally told Mona all that had happened all this while. Mona then proceeded to cuss out William and Daphne for half an hour, only getting angrier the
more she did.
Mona then went to get a cold beer from the fridge and took a large gulp of it. She asked Emelie, âDid you quit your job just like that?â
Emelie was in the middle of applying medicine to her injured leg. She answered flatly. âDidnât you always hope Iâd leave William? Are you going to tell me I acted too rashly by quitting just like that?â
âOf course not! Iâm ecstatic that youâre finally leaving him. Tjust think youâve gone too easy on those two assholes!â Mona scowled. She then pursed her lips and asked, âHow did William react when you told him
you were resigning?â
âI left before I could see his reaction.â
Mona asked, âHe didnât go after you?â
âNo.â
Emelie had limped slowly to the hospital after injuring her leg. When she was about to get a taxi, she spotted Williamâs car driving by with Daphne in the front passenger seat.
Mona said sadly, âI did hope youâd leave William. But now Iâm dissatisfied that he didnât try to stop you.
Emelie smiled, understanding that Mona thought things shouldnât turn out like this. Emelle had been with William for three years only to be so aggrieved. Now that she was leaving him, he wasnât even doing anything to hold on to her. It made Emelie feel incredibly helpless.
Emelie longed to see William regretting his decision and trying to make her stay with all his might. Most people wouldâve done that, but William wasnât most people. He was incredibly blessed in all aspects- looks, physique, capabilities, influence, as well as admirers.
Emelie was nothing to William at all.
She consoled Mona, âLook on the bright side. Not only have I quit my job, Iâm still getting paid when Iâm not even going to work for a whole month before my resignation.â
Mona livened up in an instant. âYou can demand compensation fees from him for your leg injury! This is
amazing!â
Emelie smiled. âWhat do you mean demand? Itâs not like I got injured on purpose. Plus, Social Security Services are the ones compensating me. Cloudex only needs to pay me my salary.â
*The details arenât important. What matters is that you clapped back wonderfully today! Take the rest of
the month to nurse your leg before you find a new job.
Mona had wanted to add that Emelle should find employment at a company that was a hundred times better than Cloudex, but that suggestion seemed unfeasible. After all, Cloudex Corporation was the countryâs largest investment company.
Emelie said, âI was actually contacted by several companies through their headhunters when I was at the
branch in Vinetown.â
âSee?â Monaâs eyes brightened. âHeadhunters have already set their eyes on a genius like you! Did you find any of the companies suitable?â
âThere were a couple, but I want to do more research about them before I decide.â
Mona felt gleeful. âYouâre going to seamlessly join another company right after your break! That will definitely piss off Williamâthat jackass!â
Emelie didnât really care about whether William would be pissed off anymore. She wanted to leave him the instant Daphne showed up. Sheâd only returned from Vinetown to confirm things one last time. It was time to let go now that things had come to this.
