Chapter 47
Winning Her Heart Back
Chapter 47 Did You Forget Who I Am
A moment later, Emelie walked out of the CEOâs office. Two other secretaries saw the expression on her face and asked, âWhatâs the matter, Emolio? Did Mr. Middleton get upset at you?â
âNo.â
âThen why does your face look so sour?â
Emelie grumbled, âIâm just wondering where I can find fresh graduates now when itâs not even graduation
seasonâ¦.
Finding fresh graduates wasnât the challenge. The issue was that William sought innocent, youthful women who would become emotionally attached to him.
The most important thing was that William wanted women who would be willing to have a ârelationshipâ
with him.
This wasnât something merely recruiting a secretary could solve.
Emelie found this task difficult. She gave it some thought before heading to Capebatt University.
Coincidentally, the university was having an open day. Emelie just needed to register at the guardhouse before entering.
Emelie walked around the classes, finding the place strange. It was as if many years had passed since sheâd been in college. Yet, she was only 25 years old this year.
But too many things had happened in the past three years, thoroughly exhausting Emelie. She had no time to reminisce about her past whatsoever. Now that she did, it felt like it had been so long ago.
Emelie stood beneath a sweet olive tree. As she raised her gaze, sunlight trickled through the foliage, dappling her face with specks of light. She lingered, immersing herself in the gentle rustle of leaves stirred by the wind for quite some time.
She didnât notice someone was secretly taking a picture of her.
âHey, you there, duck!â someone yelled at Emelie from afar.
Emelie opened her eyes just in time to see a basketball soaring in the air right at her.
She grinned, took a step back, and kicked the ball away as if it were soccer.
The basketball players ran over. One of them caught the ball while another ran toward her. The latter was pretty handsome. He scratched his head awkwardly and asked, âAre you okay? Sorry for nearly hitting you.
âItâs alright. It didnât hit me in the end.â
âYouâre not from our college, are you? Are you here to look around?â
âYes,â Emelie replied.
âDo you have any siblings who are looking to apply here? Do you need someone to guide you?â
Emelie considered it and found that she did. She was about to accept the offer when another manâs voice
rang out, âTyler.â
The student turned around and straightened up instantly. âMr. Swansontâ
âMr. Lautner is looking for you. Why donât you go see what he wants? the man said.
Mr. Lautner was likely one of the professors in Tyler Hiltonâs major. He quickly ran off, but not before turning back apologetically to Emelie.
Emelie nodded in understanding. âGo ahead. Iâll walk around myself.â
âWâWhy donât we exchange contacts? You can text me if you have any questions.â Tyler took out his
phone.
Emelie refused. âI didnât bring my phone.â
Tyler seemed disappointed. Regardless, he soon left to meet with Mr. Lautner.
Meanwhile, Samuel Swanson walked over to Emelie and said, âIf you need a guide, I think a lecturer would be far more suited for the job than a student. Why donât I show you around instead?â
Emelie was only looking around on a whim. Now that she was over it, she refused the offer, âI wouldnât like to trouble you. Iâm about to leave anyway.â
She then nodded and turned to leave.
But Samuel said from behind her, âWhy do you always shut people out, Ms. Hoven?â
Ms. Hoven?
Emelie turned around in surprise. âHow do you know me?â
âI think you should be able to recall me,â Samuel said with a smile. âIâll give you a hintâCloudexâs annual dinnerâspilled red wine.â.
Emelie was taken aback briefly before she quickly recalled what happened.
