Chapter 488
Winning Her Heart Back
Chapter 488 The Memories
As Wesley glanced back indiffecency, Jodie stepped forward
âMs. Allen, donât you find anything strange alter your incident with Ms. Hoven! Try thinking back now,â podle said bluntly.
Elena was confused. âStrange? What do you mean?â
âThe testimony of those two thugs was key to the whole Incident. Theyâve accused Ms. Hoven of belbing them,â Jodie said clearly.
Those two men with their phones pretended to ask Emelle for directions, When they in fact wasted the surveilance camera to capture Emelieâs interaction with them
âHmmâ¦â Elena responded blandly.
Jodie continued saying, âTheyâre the main witnesses. Shouldnât they have been in police custody immediately to advance the case? But as I recall, the police only found them ather three days. Why did you arrange it that way?â
Elena couldnât understand the point of Jodieâs question.
She hesitated for a moment and answered, âIt wasnât my arrangement. In my plan, they were supposed to be caught by the police that night, and then confess about Emelle. Iâm not sure why the police didnât find then that night.
âI thought they ran away. After a few days, they were caught. They still followed the script, so I didnât ask much.â
Wesley added calmly, âThey didnât run away. Willamâs men captured them.â
Elena froze. âWill.â
Emelle bänked Wilm had never mentioned that to her before
Emelie slightly parsed her lips and said, âOh, so William caught those two and handed them over to the police? Good thing he did. I wonder how long it wouldâve taken to clear my
name.
âGood thing?â Wesley asked. âIf it werenât for their testimony, do you think youâd be detained for a whole day and night? Are you sure William was helping you?â
Ensele replied without hesitation, âWilliam just wanted to help the police catch them. He thought that would clear my name. How would he know what the guys would say to the police?!
Wesley looked at her. âDo you even believe what youâre saying? He caught them. Donât you think heâd question them first?
Emelie wavered for a moment before she firmly suppressed her thoughts.
She calmed down and debated, so youâre saying the thugs are trustworthy? Theyâre the type to stab someone at the back. They mustâve said Elena instructed them when William questioned them and at the police, the accusations turned back to me. Itâs not like Wiliam can control what happened in the station.â
Wesley could sell that Emelle was desperately trying to convince herself. The irritation in her tone was a clear sign that she had doubts. However, she refused to acknowledge them.
Wesley spoke slowly. âIf he didnât have control, why did the guys suddenly withdraw the confessions?â
Emelie replied, âItâs not a movie. Do you think those thugs could outsmart the police? The police officers are sharp and well experienced, itâs natural the guys would crack and tell the truth. Itâs just logic.â
Wesley stared at her indeferently, and she quickly looked away
She always managed to defend William in all ways, justifying his actions.
âJust because Henryâs a bad person doesnât mean everything William is the same. You canât deny what heâs done for me. Thatâs not fair,â Emelle said.
A personâs sins shouldnât be blamed on the
Henry formed allies with the Dunds, Swanson, and Collins families to attack Xander. It was Henryâs fault, and it had nothing to do with William.
William was only three years old when it happened. What could he have known?
Just because Henry was Williamâs father, that didnât mean Wiliam was bad. It couldnât prove that Willam was dishonest.
Emelle deltasting in her palms and released her clenched fingers. She was unconsciously digging her nails into her palms.
She still remembered that night
William took her to the square to watch the pyrotechnic display. He had arranged for the fireworks just for her.
Acascade of lights filed the sky, and everyone danced under the moon. He lifted her hand and twirled her around, pulling her into his arms. For the first time, he apologized for his past mistakes and asked for a chance to start over
She believed in his sincerity and refused to believe the accusations
Emelie took a few steps back, reluctant to listen anymore. âIf thereâs nothing else, Iâm going back to Capebatt Cry.â
She switcly turned around to leave.
She only took two steps before Wesleyâs calm voice sounded from behind her. âIf you really believe in him, why are you running away? What are you afraid of?
Emelie instantly med around upon being provoked. âIâm notâ¦â
âThen stay and listen to everything Iâm going to say,â he said.
Wesley no longer held back. He was determined to make me face the truth of the entire situation.
What was she trying to do? Go back to Capebatt City? To see William?
Things have fallen to this point. How could she still think of returning to William?
