Winning Her Heart Back
Chapter 611 Acting Out
âShut up!â Elias shouted.
Roman was so intimidated by Eliasâ presence that he couldnât say a word.
âIf you cause trouble here again, Iâll make sure youâll spend a few days in jail.â Elias released his hand.
Ashley calmly added, âThereâs no need to wait. The police are on their way.â
Roman fell to his knees when he heard that. âMrs. Thornton, please donât arrest me. Youâre pregnant and a parent. Please understand a fatherâs pain.â
Ashley wasnât sympathetic. âThis isnât the first time youâve caused trouble. Iâve warned you before that if you do it again, youâre going to regret it. Plead with the police, not me.â
With that, she walked past him into the office.
Roman was furious and began to curse at her. Just then, Elias turned around and kicked a table, causing it to crash loudly.
Roman was terrified.
Elias was brimming with anger. He wouldnât have let Roman leave the office unscathed if he wasnât worried about causing trouble for Ashley.
Fortunately, the police arrived quickly and took Roman away.
Elias exhaled deeply. His expression was still cold as he entered Ashleyâs office.
He tugged at his tie and said, âIâll send a few men here to keep anyone like that from causing trouble again.â
Ashley looked at him and realized what it meant to not fit a role, even when appropriately dressed. Despite wearing a formal suit, Elias looked more like a thug. His presence was too wild to be contained in an office.
âLittle boys are just full of boundless energy,â Ashley thought as she hung her bag on the coat rack.
She turned on her computer and asked, âWhy did you come back?â
âYou left your candy behind, so I brought it back here.â Elias placed a jar of sour plum candy on her desk.
Ashley nodded. âYou can go now.â
Elias was on his way out. But after a few steps, he turned back and noticed a cold look on Ashleyâs face.
He asked, âAsh, are you upset?â
âIâm not,â she simply replied.
âI can tell that you are.â Elias walked back to her. âIs it because he insulted you?â
He pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth. âShould I find someone to beat him up? I promise it wonât be traced back to you.â
Ashley was indeed upset. She looked up and glared at him. âItâs because of you.â
Elias chuckled and sat down on the edge of the desk.
He asked, âI havenât done anything to upset you lately, have I, Ash?â
âI donât like my plans being disrupted. If you hadnât suddenly gotten me pregnant, I could have been more prepared!â Ashley said.
Elias scratched his nose. âWhat more do you need to prepare?â
âDonât you see? If our child isnât in a good environment, they could end up surrounded by bad influences. If they were fortunate, they might only need to deal with a judge. But if theyâre unfortunate, they might end up in front of a coroner,â Ashley explained.
Elias found it amusing. âOur child will never be bullied.â
Ashley retorted, âThereâs no absolute guarantee!â
âSo youâre saying we should carefully choose the school and classmates for the child before we even have one? Is that even possible? Even if you tried, could you prevent everything? Life is full of surprises,â Elias said.
Ashley didnât answer him.

After a moment of pondering, Elias pulled her out from behind her desk. âYouâre not working today.â
âAre you crazy? I have work! The case goes to court tomorrow!â Ashley exclaimed.
She struggled, but Elias ended up dragging her out. âYouâve been reviewing the case for days, Ms. Thornton. How could you not handle a case this small? Besides, do you only have useless staff? Let them handle it.â
Elias took her out of the office and into his car.
She frowned and asked, âWhere are you taking me?â
Elias opened the convertible top of the sports car. It was more comfortable that way. âDidnât you say you werenât ready? Weâll get ready now.â âWhat?â Ashley was puzzled.

âWeâre getting clothes, toys, and a cradle for the baby,â Elias said.
Ashley replied, âItâs too early.â
Elias glanced at her with a smile. She thought it was too early to buy things for the baby, who wouldnât be born for a few months. Yet, she was already worried about things like schooling, which wouldnât be an issue for years.
When Ashley felt guilty and couldnât defend herself, sheâd adopt a cold demeanor to intimidate everyone. Elias thought it was adorable.
Elias had always found Ashley adorable, no matter what she did.
