Chapter 63
Winning Her Heart Back
Chapter 63 The Only One
William didnât show any expression on his face as usual. When he arrived at the meeting place with Elias, he found Elias wolfing down a taco.
William glanced at him before taking a seat.
Seeing William, Elias gestured toward the files on the table and mumbled, âThe information you want is there. Read them yourself. I havenât eaten since last night, and Iâm starving.â
âNo one at home cooked for you? Wasnât your mom supposed to find you a wife?â William casually remarked as he picked up a file and started flipping through it.
Just thinking of the woman who had moved into his house as his fiancée made him sick to his stomach. Elias threw the taco back into the bag, wiped his hands with a tissue, and spoke in an unfriendly tone.
âShe could be my aunt. Sheâs five years older than me. I really donât know whatâs wrong with my mom for having me marry that woman.
âAll she wants is the inheritance my mom holds. Iâll just take it as having an extra housekeeper after marrying her⦠Okay, letâs not talk about her.â
Elias looked at William. âWhy do you suddenly want information on these small companies? Arenât these insignificant in front of Cloudex?â
The key was that if William wanted it done, he could just have his people take care of it for him. Why bother stepping in himself? What was he planning to do?
William read through the files seriously, though the projects were only worth a few million. âThings I handle tend to get noticed.
âIt sounds like youâre trying to acquire a small company, not for yourself but for someone else.â Elias, intrigued by the secrecy, asked. âFor whom?â
Thinking of Emelie, who was leaving the company soon, he teased, âAre you planning to give Ms. Hoven a company so she can be her own boss?â
William chuckled inexplicably. He neither denied nor confirmed it.
Twisting open a bottle of mineral water, Elias asked, âIsnât she back at work? Hasnât she withdrawn her resignation?â
William closed the folder and was ready to leave. Before leaving, he said, âShe hasnât withdrawn it, but she wonât leave either.â
How could she bear to leave him? Was there anyone who treated her better than he did?
Even her biological parents didnât want her. She once held him and said he was her only family in the world.
On the other hand, Emelle arrived at Jeremyâs company. Unsurprisingly, she was shut out. Jeremy didnât
want to see her.
Chapter 63 The Only One
With Cloudex Corporationâs name and the title of head secretary, Emelle hadnât been rejected by anyone for a long time.
But it didnât matter, Jeremy would eventually sign that contract, sooner or later.
Wasting her time on him was much better than seeing those two âDaphnesâ and William at the office, so she decided to waste her time with him.
When she first joined Cloudex, she was just an insignificant secretary. She had once pursued a client relentlessly just to sign a contract, rivaling a salesperson.
Now, she was using that same vigor to pressure Jeremy.
When Jeremy went to a restaurant with clients, Emelle sat at the table behind them. She tasted a dessert that was quite good and asked the waiter to bring two to Jeremyâs table.
The client asked curiously. âDo you know each other?â
Emelie replied frankly, âIâm also here to sign a contract with Mr. Ramsey.â
Seeing that Jeremy still had someone waiting, the client didnât dare delay him and left after the meal.
Even so, Jeremy ignored her and went straight back to the company, instructing the receptionists not to let her upstairs.
So, Emelie sat in the companyâs lobby area, working on her phone. When she was thirsty, she went to their pantry to pour water and eat snacks when hungry.
She did give them something for the receptionists.
in return. Around 5:00 pm, she ordered more than a dozen cups of coffee
After work in the evening, Jeremy strode out without glancing aside.
Since the receptionist drank Emelieâs cup of coffee, she showed courtesy by quietly calling out to Emelie, Hey.â
Emelie looked up and immediately followed, catching up to him in the parking lot.
Unable to bear it any longer, Jeremy turned and said, âIâm going home. Are you coming home with me?â
He looked at her and continued with a
