Chapter 70
Winning Her Heart Back
Chapter 70 Sult Yourself
Emelie extended her hand to touch the necklace and nodded.
It wasnât actually about giving her a gift.
It
It was Williamâs way of quickly making a name for himself, ensuring the other CEOs aboard the cruise
knew who he was and were aware of the capabilities of Cloudex Corporation.
Simply put, she ended up being his tool again.
She was nothing but a tool for him to show off his status
Samuel looked away and casually took a sip of his cocktail.
His friend, Nathan, raised an eyebrow. âAre you interested in that diamond necklace, too? You seemed quite focused on it.â
Samuel smiled. âYeah, it caught my attention.â
Nathan continued, âReally? Then why didnât you join the bidding earlier?
âWasnât that William Middleton from the Middleton family? Theyâve got quite a reputation, especially lately.
âBut the Swansons from Weston arenât exactly behind either. If you really wanted that diamond necklace, you could have given him a run for his money.â
Samuel chuckled, âNo worries, thereâs always tomorrow.â
Nathan glanced at him, then turned his gaze to William and Emelie, as if he had figured something out.
âYouâre not eyeing the diamond necklace, are you? Youâre interested in the person wearing it.â
Samuel remained composed. âLetâs not jump to conclusions and tarnish anyoneâs reputation.â
Nathan shook his head, feeling nostalgic.
âIf youâre truly into her, just mention it back home. Theyâll be thrilled to welcome her as your wife.
âAfter all these years, your family has been waiting for this moment to happen.â
Samuel smiled but said nothing.
Lost in their conversation, they failed to notice Elias sitting behind them, who managed to pick up most
of what they were saying.
When William got up to use the restroom, Elias followed suit.
âHey, Will.â
William glanced back, and they both made their way to the restroom.
âWhen did you and Samuel start having issues?â Elias asked.
Chapter 76 Sun Yourself
âSamuel?â William said, âWe donât.â
âI just overheard him saying heâs into Ms. Hoven,â Elias Insisted.
Williamâs expression darkened briefly, but he smirked dismissively. âIf heâs got the guts, he can try.â
Since Elias left early, he missed out on Nathanâs subsequent advice to Samuel: âBut hey, donât take things. too seriously on this ship.
âYou might be new here, but Iâm sure youâve heard the rumors, right? Itâs pretty common for people to switch companions behind the scenes.â
Samuel furrowed his brows.
âThe women brought onto this ship are basically up for grabs. William must be aware of this unspoken
rule.
âIf heâs okay with bringing that woman aboard, it probably means sheâs not from a highâclass background.
âShe doesnât meet the Swansonsâ standards.â
Nathan shrugged casually. âSo, maybe itâs better to just have some fun with her here instead of taking things too seriously.â
The auction finished up around 10:00 pm, signaling the start of the cruise as the ship set sail from the dock
Emelie and William were shown to their room by a steward.
Their suite could rival any fiveâstar hotel. It featured a spacious living room and dining area but with just one bedroom and a double bed.
Oddly enough, several boxes of condoms were prominently displayed on the bedside table. It was as if they were deemed essential for the roomâs occupant.
Emelie remained composed. âMr. Middleton, Iâll just sleep on the couch.â
William loosened his tie. He was unimpressed by her attempt to dodge the situation.
âYou havenât shared a bed with me before?â
Emelie held her breath, âMr. Middleton, as Iâve mentioned, that night at the hotel would be the last time.â
William gave her a wry smile. âAre you overconfident? Or do you just not trust me?â
Emelie paused for a moment before responding, âI donât trust myself. Iâm worried I might do something to offend you.
âWill that be enough of an answer, Mr. Middleton?â
William looked at her coldly for a few seconds before responding. âSuit yourself.â
He went straight into the bedroom. The door slammed shut behind him.
Fortunately, the suite had two bathrooms.
Chapter 70 Sant
If Emelie couldnât get into the master bedroom, she could still use the other bathroom to freshen up.
Emelie carefully removed the diamond necklace and ran her fingers over its surface.
Despite her lack of expertise in jewelry, she could tell it was a topâquality plece just by its feel.
She certainly wouldnât consider it a gift from William. She was just borrowing it and intended to give it back once they got off the ship.
The couch proved to be quite comfortable. Emelie lay down, covered herself with a light blanket, and closed her eyes.
As William came out to pour himself a drink, he noticed she was already fast asleep.
The blanket had slipped off onto the plush carpet beneath her.
