Chapter 10

The Alpha's Addiction [BxB]

Consuming most of their dinner Cyrus found Maylin to be chatty though easy to get used to, since she knew when to slow down every now and then. She also respected and understands his choice to remain quiet which is a bonus to her suggestion of him 'pen tapping'

He had finished eating his last broccoli when Cyrus had caught again the eyes of other students that tried to look somewhere else, they weren't exactly fast enough in doing it to go unnoticed.

While more brave ones stared at their table. Cyrus thought of sticking their eyeballs in with his fork, what was their problem anyway? Well, Cyrus had his guess, because he counted the patterns of the students pupils kept going to his tattooed neck. How typical of people.

Judging him off the bat.

They're probably busy spreading their suspicions on him as they glanced his way, no high school student should even be allowed having a tattoo. But in Cyrus defense, he's had the markings for as long as he could remember it.

Northwood's head principal knew it too, from seeing his file and him not wearing his scarf anymore. During the drive here, Amy even tried prying the answers but left the topic alone as Cyrus didn't answer her questions.

He just wasn't okay with sharing the story Cyrus thinks why he has them with anyone, nobody will believe it. Maybe those curious eyes wished to solve the mystery of the burned scars that came underneath the silver tattoo.

Maylin followed his gaze and sighed seeing the other students peering at their table. "Let them look, that's all they can actually do really." Cyrus then glanced at Maylin tilting his head and his eyebrow claimed, she shrugged.

"You're new meat here." Maylin said casually, while leaning in closer to him but still minding Cyrus's space. "Listen, the social scene here can get...chaotic."

"And since you're new. I should give you heads up, and because you don't seem to be the fellow who first asks around, so here goes." Maylin puts up her fingers in front of him narrating.

"We have seven sectors in this school. First of all, you've got them Omega sector ranks. They're the pretty ones, you'd know because whether female or male they're the smaller ones who tend to get left behind during a marathon."

"They have White dog tags, If you plan to date one of them; good luck buddy. There's only few to choose from and you'd hit the jackpot if they aren't taken already." She whispers. "There, at three o'clock." Cyrus then turns to a table with about ten people who were smaller in size and looked like living dolls. Including the guys themselves.

"Miss prissy ponytail Jessie over there is the spoilt princess officer sector rank." Cyrus thought that girl did appear lady like and royalty being very feminine.

They're short and adorable. He notes.

"Pst-hey, don't look too long. Jealous partners is something you don't want to bring into your plate here." Maylin cautiously scolds. "They may appear harmless and cute now but they have their feisty days." Cyrus taps twice in understanding what having bad days feels like, though he'd wouldn't say it.

His own episodes were...vicious.

"Next are the Silver sector ranks, I'm really friendly with the officer there." Maylin waved at the table behind him and Cyrus slightly glanced over his shoulder to see this short smiley boy, adjusting his thick glasses and return the greeting before going back to eat.

Everyone at his table had Silver tags.

"Emmett's sector is kinda similar to the Omega ranks, yet his group is only stronger by just little to them. Don't let his innocent baby face trick you Cyrus, Emmett can switch personas in a snap."

"And myself." She declared.

Maylin nods to him and dangles her school ID which is a shinning Yellow dog tag. "I'm the Gamma sector rank officer, we Gammas are cheerful and bring the party, we tend to gamble at things a lot. We're mega risk takers on anything and everything, we take on security measures and sometimes, I negotiate deals among students too."

Cyrus looks at it and back to her. As if asking what kind of 'deals' she meant.

She rolls her brown eyes and snickers. "Don't worry, it's just treading snacks for them hallway passes. Anyway---"

Maylin was cut off, the sound of girls laughing obnoxiously loud at the table in the further center of the cafeteria.

She snorted whispering. "Speak of the man-whore himself, see that red head with loads of future trophy wives?" He quickly peeks at the boy Maylin was referring to and taps his pen twice.

"That's Chase, Northwoods known hoe since the beginning of forever. They say he's screwed an entire sector year of people, without ever getting caught, not once. I ain't interested to know he's secret where and when Chase does it."

Cyrus could tell this was true as he saw Chase's right hand was around a girls shoulder, while his left hand was resting on another girl's lap under the table. He isn't one to label people but Cyrus witnessed it there; he's a player.

He took in the Green dog tag he wore. "Chase is Delta rank sector officer, he isn't too much to worry about, but tell him off if he pulls anything weird on you. Otherwise, he'll just keep hitting on you until you bend over for him. He's at least determined to do duties right."

Cyrus hums in agreement.

It wasn't shocking to him that some people go liking and having romantic relationships with the same sex, and then fuck. Times were different now.

Then another guy next to Chase hands him a soda and sat down opening his book to the bookmark, unlike Chase, this guy behaved himself maturely. Reminding the girls sitting with them to be proper. He owned a Blue dog tag.

The older looking boy had unique salt and peppered hair, though more onto the darker side and the white strips of locks only came from the front. Like his hair the guy's face possessed this lighter shade of skin over his eyes that made one of his eyebrows half white and half black. Having a vitiligo condition.

"Oh, I wouldn't go after that one. He's all studies and officer duties." Maylin explained sounding like she knew the guy. "I mean sure, he's the Beta rank sector officer. Though Rainier should live his life outside and do something other than follow every order. Rainier is already smart enough for me, I guess he wants to be the best. They sometimes put Rainier in charge. Opps. Sorry, I'm rambling again." Cyrus tapped once.

He wrote on the napkin: "it's fine. You said there's seven rank sectors, what about the last two?" Maylin reads and was going to answer, when she turned around expectant scanning the room. Maylin stood up, back straight along with the other four officers...waiting.

Cyrus lightly pokes her using the pen, questioning with his eyes."What is it?''

She murmured. "Code Red; Alpha."

This charming brunette boy that was around the same age as Cyrus walked in, smiling at every officer and does a posed salute. He respectfully bows to the student body with compassion in his forest green orbs. "Good evening."

"Please, don't mind me. Eat, you all deserve to enjoy your dinner for the efforts you put into our routine run today." The handsome male then goes to the table where Chase and Rainier sat and someone from the kitchen staff came in and placed a prepared meal.

The guy thanked the staff, though he obviously would have preferred to get his own food but didn't want the staff to be disheartened. Maylin sat back and shortly swooned before speaking up.

"That guy is Shane Isaac Nightwalker, Northwoods 'dream boy' and as you can tell; he's a high ranked officer. He's super sweet and nice. But don't mingle much with him, there's a sad reason he's called dream boy nobody can stick around him without being threatened or feeling intimidated by his older brother. He's one of the select three hunks in this school who bears the bloody Red dog tags, Shane is the only decent Alpha officer here. Don't tell anybody I said that or I'm a goner."

He tapped twice, Cyrus may have his issues though he isn't a backstabbing asshole. He jutted his chin for her to go on wanting to know more, it's helpful.

Maylin frowns. "His Gothic ass cousin usually skips classes or is missing in action." She lowered her voice more, as though Maylin's about to tell Cyrus where to find the lost city of Atlantis.

"But it's his maniac of a brother you have to avoid bumping heads with."

He stayed silent.

"Rumours have it he..." Maylin shook her head. "Just stay away from those Nightwalker brothers altogether and you'll be fine, especially Al. He's evil."

Cyrus drew a question mark on the napkin and Maylin smiled. "I'm sorry, I got carried away. What's your rank?"

He looked up at Maylin, his eyebrows clashing in confusion together and thinking. Cyrus didn't know what to answer, instead he decided Maylin would know. Slinging out his own dog tag that went with Cyrus's appearance.

A Black one.
