Chapter 05

The Alpha's Addiction [BxB]

"Hello there, my names Miranda Amy Harrison. But you can call me Amy if you want." She offered her confident smile, same one she gave to Denise as they sat down. She placed her hand for Cyrus to take, Amy was expecting him to lash out. Hell, even break her hand.

Anything to hint her Cyrus was as she was counting on to be; a werewolf.

Yet he didn't.

He was just unblinking, his posture sloughing over the table as if paying attention was sucking the energy the boy was using to listen to the women. Cyrus was covered up in his scarf and a off blue shirt, which Amy thought to be inconvenient with the heat of the sun trapped in this shed and him having both barricaded the door and window.

He was weird to say the least.

Cyrus just stared blankly at her hand with his eyes as though she was crazy to give anything but kindness to him. Amy caught on that Cyrus won't ever shake it, and although Amy along with her quite wolf; Saber, were mildly pissed receiving nothing from the strange boy. They stayed composed, because Denise is human and would really flip out if Amy decided to shift then and there.

She isn't used to people not honoring her Alpha status that Cyrus should have picked up, the teen was indifferent.

After what seemed like a long decade, Cyrus turned to Denise and like she is familiar with his gestures, it was him signalling 'Go on' Cyrus wasn't fond of strangers, let alone speaking to them.

Denise cheerfully mused to Amy "As I've told you, this is Amy. She's the head principal of Northwood High School, she came over today to discuss your enrollment there." Amy smirked feeling prideful of herself. "Have you read the pamphlet I slipped under your door?"

Cyrus frowned lowering his head then meekly nodded, Denise leaned in to Amy's ear whispering. "He's kinda...shy."

The boy's head flicked up slightly, it was so brief anyone could've missed this yet Amy and Denise were both startled because they had they're eyes on Cyrus. It was like witnessing a first hand jump scares, even through his thicken bangs Amy knew Cyrus was zoning in his gaze on them. His prominent frowning lips almost forming a weak pout, he hadn't said it though his actions pointed it says 'I heard that' the women were stunned.

Denise awkwardly followed their talk. "Amy here is inviting you to attend her school, and I know this is really sudden, but Cyrus dear. it's the middle of the school year. I don't want you to neglect your studies, be aware years from now our orphanage will have to let you go by yourself." Denise didn't want to yet it was how things are, she couldn't keep Cyrus sheltered here forever either.

He needed to grow up.

Needed to graduate school in order to support himself, Cyrus clearly wasn't going to be adopted. His troublesome reputation and his attitude made sure of this. He knew it as well, that he'd have to get his shit together if he had plans to survive in the real world with everyday normal people. Though the only option he actually had is literally on this very table was Amy's invitation.

Giving education and a chance.

Northwood High School is also a well respected institution for their military like learning program, Cyrus actually took time to read the damn pamphlet and think about his future. There was absolutely nothing for him to return to and Denise has been the nicest person towards him, as the other orphanage staff members detested Cyrus the day he appeared into the aged building.

It was baffling the principal herself is sitting here, managing his opinion to attended the prestigious school. Cyrus thought there had to be a catch, a but, something this woman was keeping in the back of her sleeves, any condition.

His instincts were correct.

Amy added in, her aura going serious. "Moreover, as principal of the school I should tell you frankly now, I do treat every single of one my students as equal. Our military set up is to ensure peace and order among ourselves, the ranks that are assigned to students there are to teach us responsibility and enforce discipline. You will not be treated any more or less, regardless of your rank. Do you understand?" She finished.

Internally he was disappointed, Cyrus hadn't pin down Amy's intentions and what would she gain from doing this. Cyrus again glanced at Denise, to see her reaction to all of this information.

She smiled sincerely at him. "It's for your own good dear, you'll do better."

Better as in they just want you gone.

You've been such a big burden.

You always were, really.

He thought to himself, Cyrus did think this through he wasn't the type of guy who jump into fast decision making. Cyrus weighted the Pros and Cons of accepting this while he played in the basketball court, if he allowed this last and precise shot to go by there wouldn't be another school willing to take him in after Cyrus got expelled this very year.

Pulling in a deep breath, he nods.

Amy raised a brow to a smiling Denise as she gladly took it as his reply, Amy clasped her hands. "Fantastic, you should pack your bags so I can take you along with me today to my institution."

Cyrus had no idea it would change his entire life when he signed up to go to Northwood, and the challenges to come.

------------

Exaggerated word spread about Cyrus going with the mysterious lady to the kids in the building, filled Amy's ears when Denise and herself left the boy to pack, she wanted to growl harshly at the noisy brats to shut up already.

Of course, Amy didn't do it because they were just human children. They were clueless how annoying it can get if you're a werewolf that hears every little mutter. And Saber helped shield their voices as to keep Amy's sanity in check.

Heading back to her school, Amy was going to need all of her will power not to blur her judgement as Head Luna.

"Uh...Denise."

She whirled around. "Yes?"

"I'd like I get your number, if I may?" Amy asked with her attractive smile.

"I saw how concern you were for him and knowing how teenagers are, I'd thought you'd appreciate it if I update you on Cyrus since you're like his only guardian figure." Denise smiled back.

"I-it's in the file, and yeah Cyrus hasn't really opened up to me...to anybody in here but I would appreciate that." Their conversation is interrupted by Amy's phone ringing as she excused herself.

------------

Securing her surroundings twice for any kids or civilians there in the open parking lot, Amy rested her back onto her car answering the call. "What?"

"How was it?" She sneered.

"Did you actually timed this call of yours to fucking cock-block me Walter?" He faked a dramatic gasp, like the blasted brother he's always been. "Your joking."

"Psh, back to your question and yeah, I'm changing the subject now Walter." She switched back to her serious tone pressing the phone between her cheek and shoulder reading Cyrus's profile.

Amy lowly reports. "This one's...odd, I don't wanna scare you bro, but the boy was stinking the scent of a werewolf slaughter house. I was fixed he'd definitely be one of us, a young Rogue I assumed." Her hazel orbs concentrated on every written detail in the papers.

There wasn't much personal info to memorise, Cyrus's records are mostly everything Amy already researched.

However he isn't even a werewolf, I'd classify this boy as a complete human. Saber announced Amy second that, it makes sense because Saber's obvious Alpha smell should have sent the wolf in Cyrus to even acknowledged them.

Even half breeds had wolf's, though it was undeniable Cyrus had no wolf in him. Humans were oblivious to this, they will judge people based on their human form, unlike werewolves who know by smell and their wolf within.

Her thoughts were roaming deeper. So how can it be that he wafted that thickly morbid scent around himself if Cyrus was just a mere human? Amy is dedicated to find the answers to that.

"Then what do you wanna do? Is he going to be a problem?" Walter spoke, Amy's decision would be approved in his words, no questions asked. Trust is something they shared to their graves.

Though the risks with having Cyrus in her school meant she could be putting someone secretly dangerous near her students, then a light bulb turned on in her head. Saber knew it already.

I swear, you're mental Amy. Saber sighs as Amy's lips grew reaching her eyes.

"Nothing changes, I'm taking this boy to Northwood today. The four other Strays are still in critical conditions right? You take care of them and I'll handle him."

With that she hung up.

Everything was going to be alright, she reassured herself. Then Amy's eyebrow quirks spotting something behind in the file, she took it and her eyes widen seeing a recent plain picture of Cyrus.

Amy frowned; confused.

"Just who, or what are you Cyrus..."
