“I came to wait for Father!” Gu Jinyu replied with a smile.

Lord Gu spoke approvingly, “You are indeed the most considerate! How is your mother? Is she at home?”

“Yes, she just rested,” Gu Jinyu said.

Lord Gu frowned, “She’s resting so early, is she unwell?”

Just as he finished speaking, he caught sight of the letter in Gu Jinyu’s hand, “What is that you’re holding?”

Gu Jinyu handed the letter over to Lord Gu, “The princess has set up a girls’ school and wants me to attend.”

Lord Gu opened it for a look, “What does your mother think?”

Gu Jinyu replied softly, “Mother just went to rest, I haven’t had a chance to tell her yet. Father, what do you think?”

Lord Gu said, “If your mother thinks it’s alright, then you should go.”

Gu Jinyu hesitated, “As for Grandmother…”

“I will handle it.” Lord Gu did not think there was anything difficult about it. On a sudden thought, Lord Gu asked, “Did they only send one letter? Did they mention how to enroll?”

Gu Jinyu replied, “Just one letter. The person who delivered it said that noble ladies with a reputation for talent in the capital can enroll without any tests. If others wish to enroll, they need to pass an examination.”

“There’s an examination?” Lord Gu’s brows furrowed deeply. That girl only knew how to farm, she couldn’t even recognize a single character, how could she pass an examination?

“Is there a way to obtain another spot?” he asked.

Gu Jinyu asked innocently, “Father, do you want my elder sister to also attend? I can ask if the princess could give my elder sister a spot. If there are none, I am willing to teach my elder sister how to recognize characters and read.”

“Even if you’re willing, she might not appreciate it. Forget it, keep the letter.” Having returned the letter to Gu Jinyu, Lord Gu saw her about to speak and couldn’t help asking, “What’s wrong?”

Gu Jinyu spoke quietly, “Father hasn’t been home for a few days, so you probably don’t know that there has been trouble in the residence.”
