Chapter fifty five

I groaned rolling on the bed again once again hitting Lucian who had been complaining all morning about me moving.

“Hey” He groaned into his pillow yet again. I laughed sitting up on the bed.

“We should get ready” I said. Lucian sat up with a frown.

“What do you want Raina?” I laughed.

“Do I have to want something?” I teased.

“Don’t pretend like you don’t know what you’ve been doing” He was already standing up walking towards the bathroom. I stood up and followed him holding my laugh in.

My body collided with his when he stopped in front of the bathroom door not entering. He held my waist and turned to face me, my body against his.

“Good morning” I smiled at him. I don't know why I am like this today but something in me didn't want this feeling to ever stop.

“How did you sleep?” He asked.

“Well. You?” I asked knowing full well that I disturbed him all night. He faked a frown then smiled leaving me to walk inside the bathroom. I followed and stayed beside him.

“Is there something you want?” He asked again. I nodded, no, again.

“Sure?” He confirmed. I nodded, yes. I was sure. I didn't want anything else. He was here with me.

He picked his brush up and started to get ready for the day and I did just the same.

Immediately after Lucian brushed his teeth I asked him about how he wanted to spend the day.

“I don't really know” He replied sitting on the bed.

“What about we start with breakfast. I'll cook” I quickly offered. He sighed.

“I would have loved that Raina, but I really need to get some work done,” I said standing, walking past me. I turned to face his back as he walked away.

“A few minutes perhaps” I tried again.

“I love your food Raina but I've not been able to get work done for a week now. I promise to come back as soon as I am done” He said already walking back to the edge of the bed where I stood.

“Is that a promise?” I asked hopefully. He smiled.

“Yes, it is.” He assured me.

“Thank_” I started.

“You shouldn't thank me for not having time to spend with you today” He did not sound very happy about himself.

“You always have my time, you need a break too,” I said not knowing exactly why I was trying to defend or make him feel better.

“I don't think I'll ever need a break from you” He pulled me closer with my waist.

“Enjoy your day okay?. Don't stress” He warned me.

“You know I can't sit all day without doing something” I argued.

“What about you try today?” He asked.

“I would have loved that but I have something to get done with Lucy” I explained.

“Really? What is that?” He questioned.

“I’ll explain later” I brushed his question quickly not very sure I would have been able to explain the reason behind my meeting with Lucy.

“I love that you two her friends now” He expressed himself. I smiled.

“I love that we are friends too” I also confessed.

“Make sure you eat” He instructed before walking into the bathroom leaving me to think of how I wanted to spend my day.

Already bored of waiting I walked down the stairs to see what was going on. On getting to the dining I met Jack sitting. I smiled at him despite the fact that we both have not being able to have a very long conversation. The last time we talked which was also the first time that we both met each other wasn’t exactly a good first time meeting.

‘’Good morning Raina’’ Jack had a smug look on his face.

‘’Good morning to you too Jack’’ I greeted with a small smile.

‘’What are you doing here?’’ He asked. I gave him a `are you serious’ look.

‘’What do people usually do here?’’ I asked smiling. He laughed at my question, not giving me enough time to reply hi again he continued,

‘’A terrible way to start a conversation, sorry. Let’s start again’’ He said.

‘’You know you can be yourself with me right?’’ I said smiling at Jack who was clearly overthinking our meeting again this morning.

‘’I’m bad at this sorry’’ He apologized again.

‘’You didn’t seem shy the first time we met’’ I said to him.

‘’I didn’t know who you were and that was a different situation’’ He explained.

‘’You don’t have to be different because I am Luna’’ I assured him.

‘’I’ll keep that in mind thank you’’

‘’How does Lucy talk with you when you_’’ He did not let me finish what i was saying before he countered my point.

‘’I’m in love with her and I feel so much more comfortable with her, no offence’’

‘’None taken, I am also not usually like this’’ I confessed. He visually looked so much more relaxed when i said that.

‘’Good to know. When is Lucian getting down for breakfast?’’ He requested.

‘’Uhmm _ he’s not’’ I replied opening the dish in front of me to feed my hungry stomach.

‘’Meat’’ I smiled stuffing my face with meat. Jack laughed.

‘’That I remember’’ He said amidst laughter.

‘’Remember?’’ I asked confused at his choice of word. He said remember, has he been talking about me?

‘’Lucian talks about you lot’’ I remembered he said something similar to that the day we met.

‘’Oh’’ was all I said.

I continued eating my food not minding the funny looks Jack was giving me.

‘’Don’t you miss Lucy with the way you are never around?’’ I asked when i was almost done with my breakfast.

‘’Why are you here right now? because you looked really determined to leave Lucian that day’’ He said.

‘’We walked things out I guess’’ I replied not sure of how to reply his question. It felt weirdly nice talking to Jack.

‘’Lucy and I find a way to a way to make things work.’’

‘’I don’t mean to intrude but how because I do not see myself working a relationship out with much distance’’ I confessed to him.

‘’Are you asking this because you think Lucian and you will have to work your relationship with distance?’’ He asked. I nodded, no. Although I knew him much of a lie that was i still kept a straight face in other no to blow my cover. He smiled at me.

‘’Lucian doesn’t travel as much I do so you do not have anything to worry yourself about’’ He tried to convince me but that did not change how i felt about being far away from Lucian. Why I’m I feeling this way. Why does the idea of being far away from him hurt me more than it should.

‘’So Lucy is fine with the distance?’’

‘’She’s hybrid Raina, she can do a lot of things you do not know about’’

‘’Wow, now I am intrigued.’’ I said.

‘’You’re here so concerned about distance that you both don’t have yet while he thinks you have not yet opened up to the idea of you being his soulmate’’

‘’Why does he think so’’

‘’That is_’’

‘’What are you both talking about?’’ Lucy said from behind me patting my shoulder to greet me as she walked towards Jack who was smiling so hard that his face was alight colour of red.

‘’Nothing much, just catching on’’ He said ti her. She leaned down and placed a kiss on Jack’s mouth.

‘’You left’’ She said frowning when she withdrew fro, the kiss.

‘’I’m sorry love, I needed to get something in my stomach’’ He apologized.

‘’It’s alright love’’ She dismissed his apology politely and he smiled.

Lucy sat down and served herself while I poured myself a glass of juice. Lucy and Jack talked so lowly i barely heard. I was about to leave them both when Rietta joined us at the table.

“Good morning everyone” She announced sitting down serving herself immediately.

“You must be famished,” I said holding back my laughter.

“You don't want to know how hungry I am,” She said stuffing her mouth with food”

I smiled looking at everyone enjoying their breakfast. What I always wanted, a family I trusted and would do ain't to protect, Lucian gave me this.

“Why are you smiling so hard?” Ri asked. I looked at her still smiling.

“It’s nothing, I need to start my day” I announced standing up. I faced Jack.

“It was nice catching up with you Jack,” I said walking towards the kitchen.

“The garden at noon” Lucy called after me. I turned back,

“Thank you for this Lucy” I thanked her before going to the kitchen to have Charlotte make Lucian something to eat. I didn't like the idea of him not eating before working himself up for the day.

“Good morning Luna, how can I be of help today” Charlotte gave a big smile greeting me. I smiled at the petite girl.

“Call me Raina Charlotte.” I reminded her again. She gave a shy smile and nodded.

“How are you today?” I asked.

“I’m fine” She replied and I could tell she didn't feel very good about talking to me like this so I decided to stop to make her feel a little more comfortable.

“Good to know Charlotte. I need you to make Lucian a meal and pack it up for me please” I explained to her.

“I’ll get to it, Luna. What do you want me to make for alpha?” She asked? I didn't try to correct her about calling me, Luna again.

“Bread, egg, sausages and tea will be fine” I answered her. I turned to leave when I heard her say something so I turned back.

“What was that?” I asked. She nodded left to right so quick that it hurt me to see her like this. I remember living like that for eight years and I knew how it felt to leave in fear constantly but I just couldn't understand why she alone seemed to be the very frightened one.

“ Really curious, talk to me, please” She answered me but I could not tell if it was because I begged her or because she thought that I was going to get angry at her if she didn't talk.

“Alpha does not like tea,” She said. I sighed.

“I had no idea Charlotte, thank you. What does he prefer then?” I asked.

“He prefers just to drink water” She answered.

“A bottle of water then, thank you Charlotte” I made sure she knew how appreciated she was.

I went back to the dining to wait for Lucian’s breakfast only to meet Henrietta sitting with a worried expression.

“What is wrong?” I inquired worriedly.

“Nothing” She snapped at me. I didn't get offended, I knew she probably didn't want to talk about it yet.

“It doesn't look like it's nothing Ri” I tried again. She sighed.

“I don't know how to explain this without sounding very stupid” She sobbed.

“Oh, Ri” I rushed beside them to pull her into a warm hug.

“I am a little worried about Lucy,” She said.

“Why? Is something wrong with her?” I asked.

“No, no. Don't you find it weird she's suddenly so close to you now” She said.

“We’ve been over this Ri, I trust Lucy and I seriously don't see a reason why you suddenly don't anymore when you were the one who wanted me to try to be patient with her in the first place” I didn't mean to sound insensitive but she was seriously worrying me already.

“I’m sorry Rietta, I did not mean to sound that way” I apologized after a long silence.

“No, no, no, don't apologize to me, Raina. I should be doing all the apologizing here. I am sorry” Henrietta begged.

“It’s_” I started.

“Luna” Charlotte called from behind me. I looked away from Ri and gave Charlotte my attention.

“The breakfast is ready” She quickly added. I turned back to Ri.

“We will talk later,” I told her following Charlotte back to the kitchen.
