Chapter fifty seven
Little bites, alpha(to be taken down for editing)
As soon as I walked inside I met with Henrietta. I smiled at her despite our little disagreement this morning.
âHow is your day going?â I asked.
âBusyâ She replied.
âBusy?â I repeated.
âYeah. I've been trying to paint another abstractâ She said to me.
âThatâs great. I'll love to see it when you're finishedâ I said. She nodded and left.
Weird.
I ignored her. I wondered why she was being so weird and rude to me. I made my way to the kitchen to take some water before going to see Lucian. I smiled when I noticed that the plates I used in serving Lucian were here. He did eat the food.
I made my way to the stairs. As soon as I walked past the library I got called back.
âRainaâ He called. His thick voice I don't think I will ever forget.
I walked back and stood in front of it. He opened the door. I stared at his shirtless body. His abs toned and his hair wet from a new shower. He was in brown shorts.
âRainaâ He called again to gain my already lost attention.
âSorryâ I mumbled looking back at his perfect green eyes. His hair looks a lot browner today instead of the usual brown-black look. Lucian walked over to me and pulled me Into a hug. Shocked, I hesitated to return to the gig but when he relaxed into me I wrapped my hands around his back and let myself get lost in his intoxicating smell.
âSorry for how I acted this morning. I was really busy but I should have said that instead of keeping muteâ The vibration of his deep voice tickled my skin.
âItâs fine. I understandâ I told him sincerely.
âThank youâ He withdrew from the hug to cup my face in his hands. I looked up at him. I'm indeed lucky to have him as my soul mate. Couldn't have asked for anyone different. He flashed his perfect set of white teeth at me making me blush under his intense gaze as I stared up at him.
âYouâre beautiful,â He said. Gosh! I couldn't talk. I just stood still being a blushing mess.
We started at each other none of us wanting to break the silence. I looked away from him when his gaze became too long. My eyes caught a black funny looking rock. Realising my distraction Lucian followed my gaze. His gaze landed on the rock I was weirdly feeling a pull towards.
âDo you want it?â He asked. I closed my eyes looking away quickly.
âNo,â I said walking towards the table not knowing why or how I kept walking ignoring Lucian's calls of my name.
âRaina!â This time I looked back then took a few steps causing me to hit the small table that had the rock on it. In shock, I gasped as I hurriedly only down and placed my palm under the table so I could catch it.
Immediately the rock touched my palm a strong wave hit me causing the rock to fly out of my hand and I could feel my eyes roll to the bed.
âRaina, Rain, Rainâ Lucian kept calling but I could not bring myself to talk or get in touch with anything around me. Suddenly I felt a push on my head causing me to fall.
***************
I walked in a plain white hallway. The hallway was as silent as the night. I followed the only route there was. I walked and it seemed like I'd walked for ages without getting anywhere. Already exhausted I slumped to the ground to close my eyes to have some rest. I hadn't closed my eyes for two minutes when I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder.
âAhrimanâ The voice called gently. I weirdly recognised this unusual name as mine because I stood up to face a familiar figure. A petite woman with a large scarf covering her head and her face only leaving traces of her long brown hair.
âWho are you?â I questioned immediately trying to move closer to her. She moved back quickly.
âListen carefully Ahrimanâ She instructed.
âWhy do you call me Ahriman. I am Raina, Raina Belmontâ. She laughed.
âAhriman. You have a lot to learn about who you truly her but one warning, nothing is ever as it seemsâ
âI don't understand you. How do you know me and why do I feel like I am truly this Ahriman you're talking aboutâ
âBecause you are AHRIMANâ She answered.
âBut_â
âListen, girl. You must obey every instruction I give to youâ
âI know where I saw you!â I suddenly yelled when I remembered.
âIâm glad you know we've met once before,â She said.
âI didn't hear what you were saying that day. You were with your husbandâ I desperately wanted to know what was being said.
âItâs none of your businessâ
âWhy show it to me thenâ
âYou are indeed stubborn Ahrimanâ
âWhat do you want from me?â I asked.
âI need you to listen to meâ She repeated.
âOkâ
I agreed.
âThere are three heirlooms in the whole of the supernatural worlds. One is always kept with a witch, another with a seer/guardian and the last which I want you to find is always with the dragon shapeshiftersâ She started.
âDragon shapeshifters?â I was very shocked to find this out.
âYes. Learn about the supernatural world Ahriman you need it to win this battle.â
âWhat battle?â
âBLENHEIMâ
âWhat is that?â
âYou ask too many questions. Obey. Find that sword and use itâ
âUse it. On who?â
âThe sword can only be used on one person. Don't misuse the power of the great heirloom Ahrimanâ She started to walk away.
âDonât go. I have questions!â I screamed after her. Before I could even realise it she was already gone.
*****************
I opened my eyes slowly to meet with four eyes staring down at me. Lucy's and Lucianâs.
âAhriman,â I said.
âWhat?â Lucian said.
âWhere did you get that from?â Lucy asked in fear. Confused I turned to Lucian.
âCan I talk to Lucy pleaseâ He didn't like this but still left.
âIs something wrong?â I asked immediately Lucian left the library.
âWhat does the word mean?â I asked not wanting to tell her that might be my name.
âLord of Darkness and Chaos, and the source of human confusion, disappointment, and strife. As a sign of contempt and disgust." She recited.
âWhy do you recite it?â
âWe were taught at young ages about the famous God of chaos and how powerful and dangerous she can be. Where did you hear her name from Rainaâ it suddenly felt weird being called Raina. And it also scared me that my supposed name is already known and known for nothing but evil and destruction.
âI donât rememberâ I lied.
âTrust remember?â Not in this case Lucy. I'm sorry. I'm sure once you know I am Ahriman you're going to want me dead.
âI really don't rememberâ I lied again.
âWhat happened over there?â She asked another question.
âUhm_ a womanâ I answered.
âWoman? Did she tell you anything?â I nodded.
âWhat did she tell you?â
âA bunch of instructions. Look for the heirloom that lies with the dragon shapeshifters and take it, use it on one person during the Blenheimâ I told her.
âFuck! Raina we really need to Lucian. We can't keep this anymoreâ She said scared.
âIâm confusedâ
âSorry. The Blenheim is the war of peace. It never really brings peace and the last time war like this happened was when the famous power couple fought the lead in the battle.
âOk. I should talk to Lucianâ I agreed. Lucy knelt to hug me.
âIt will be alright. Don't be scaredâ She assured me. I should be telling you all this I thought to myself.
âIâll get Lucian,â She said leaving me all alone in my thoughts. What do I do? Leave? Run? I don't want to hurt anyone. I care too much about them to hurt them intentionally. I would never hurt them. I can't do that. Never.
Lucian came inside and rushed to me.
âAre you ok?â I nodded.
âYes. I need to tell you somethingâ I whispered.
âLetâs go to the room ok?â He helped me up and we left the library together. Lucian helped me on the bed because I still felt a little uneasy about what was going on.
âWhat is going on love. Talk to me, pleaseâ He begged.
âI will,â I told him.
âOk. The first time I noticed was when I read the last part of the feud and accidentally burnt the book down because I was angryâ I started and he didn't say anything. I liked that he wasn't intent on distracting me so I continued.
âOf course, I told Lucy. Right now I have weird powers I have no idea how I am supposed to controlâ I summarized.
âHow does it make you feel, knowing you have strange abilities.â He asked.
âAngry. Most of the time scared. Scared of what I am capable of even without understanding the powerâ I confessed to him. He pulled me closer to him. My head was resting on his chest.
âYou wouldn't hurt anyoneâ He assured me.
âWhat if I do?â I asked.
âLucy will train you but Raina does this mean you're a witch too?â He asked.
âNo. Lucy says I'm a seer/guardian. I don't understand how because my parents were warriorsâ I added.
âThis is the supernatural world Raina anything is possible,â He told me.
âIâm scaredâ I didn't mind being vulnerable with him. At this point, I needed to be.
âItâs ok to be scared love. I'll be here to protect youâ He promised. He rubbed my arm slowly making me relax a bit.
âWhat happened today?â He asked.
âWhenever I touch some things I see thingsâ
âSee things? Things like?â
âUhm_ the first time it happened was when I touched the ashes from the book of the feud to know the ending of the feud. Also, when I touched one of Riâs paintingsâ He looked surprised at something I said but he didn't say anything.
âSo the rock today, you saw something?â
âYes. It was different this timeâ
âDifferent? How?â
Usually, I either dream or see something of the past or what is going to happen but today I met someone and she gave me instructionsâ I explained to him. He listened carefully as I told him about the woman but I made sure to leave out the name this time.
âA bunch of instructions. Look for the heirloom that lies with the dragon shapeshifters and take it, use it on one person during the Blenheimâ I repeated exactly what I said to Lucy to Lucian.
âThe Blenheim?â I nodded.
âYesâ
âOnly one person that can pass on that instruction to you Rainaâ
âWhoâ
âAbigail,â He said already thinking of whatever.
âAbigail? Who is thatâ
âShe and her husband, Angus. They lead the last Blenheim together and only they can pass the fight to anotherâ He explained gently.
âWhy did they choose me?â I asked.
âI don't know Raina. We need to act fast. Tell my parents. There should know more about Abigail and Angusâ He said. I agreed with him on that.
âShould we go to them now?â I asked.
âWe can if you're not too tired,â He said. I was tired but I will not tell him that. I need to understand what is going on.
âIâm notâ I lied.
âOk. Let me tell them we will be coming over in an hourâ He said standing up. He helped me lay down. He kissed my lips.
âHave some rest while they get ready for our visit.â He said leaning the room with a smile.
(in italics)
âGood job Ahriman. You have passed the first stage. Don't trust anyone with your true identity like you already figured. Fight and come back victoriousâ The woman who I now know as Abigail's voice said. I looked around to look for her but she was nowhere to be found.
What a Creep I thought.
