You Are My Light, My Angel

Sugandha replied to the caller,"Yes, Pushpendra, what happened, are you Ok, have you reached safely, how was the function?"Pushpendra felt as if his heart skipped a beat for a second. He said to her,"We have been invited to a friend's house for lunch. Taara Mam has asked me to come with my family. If you don't mind, then can you join us for lunch today alongwith Mehek."Sugandha said to him,"Yes, that would be a great idea, please send me the address of the place and I will join you with Mehek after half an hour!"Pushpendra gave her the address of the restaurant and Sugandha arrived with Mehek after sometime. As she saw Pushpendra waiting for them at the gate of the restaurant, she felt her cheeks were being flushed as she realised that he means a lot to her daughter as her daughter's father but is she falling in love with him after hating someone else for so many years! She smiled at Pushpendra, who instinctively gave her a hug but Sugandha stepped back just in time as she felt unprepared for this kind of public display of affection in front of their daughter and the whole world.Mehek hugged her father as she said to him,"Dad, I missed you, you are my teddy bear!"Pushpendra hugged his daughter and said to her,"Yes, dear I know!"All three of them go inside where the biggest surprise was waiting for them.As Pushpendra introduced Mehek, he said to me and Taara Mam,"She is my daughter Mehek!"I felt a keen resemblance of Mehek to someone whom I had once loved and lost many years ago. I said to Mehek,"Hello Dear, where is your mother?"Mehek pointed at a woman who was standing at a distance. I looked carefully and yes, I recognised her, She was Sugandha, my ex-wife who was arranging her saree before meeting someone who was her special person once upon a time but now is a complete stranger in her eyes.I looked shocked as I saw Sugandha, she was looking like a newlywed bride in her red Kanchipuram saree and dark red roses which she had adorned on her black lustrous hair. Sugandha saw a pair of eyes looking at her from a distance and felt immediately drawn towards the person. When she found out that it was me then maybe she recalled my past mistakes and an affair with a girl called Khushbu. She decided to make me jealous so she said to Pushpendra in my presence,"Pushpendra, please introduce me to your guests before we proceed to have some lunch as we have to go for shopping after this."Pushpendra felt very happy that Sugandha is feeling closer to him after so many years or there was some other reason behind this change of heart on her part!He thought to test this theory himself as he held her hand in his own hands and looking into her eyes, said to her in a sweet loving voice,"You are looking resplendent in this beautiful attire, my dear! I can't promise that I will take you for shopping or for ballroom dancing after lunch!"Sugandha was enjoying this moment as she felt that she should make me relive the same kind of pain which one undergoes when his or her own life partner goes astray in life and starts enjoying oneself in the company of someone else.I was not enjoying at all but I decided to put up a brave face in front of my guests.Taara Mam said to Sugandha,"What a great surprise, dear! Nice to see you after so long!"Sugandha gave Taara Mam a warm hug, as she said to her,"I missed you so much, Taara Mam but now I have found you once again!"I wanted her to say the same thing for me but she looked at me with a look that implied,"Good riddance, Mister!"Pushpendra asked Taara Mam,"How do you know her, Mam? Please tell me."Taara Mam said to him,"She was married to one of my students. That's how I met her!"Pushpendra said to her,"If only I could ever meet him, then I will teach him a nice lesson about the role of a good husband and his numerous responsibilities towards his wife. Mam, I am truly surprised that someone who used to be your student could commit such kind of a blunder in his life, I feel somewhere in my heart that he must be your worst experience as a student because such students never pay attention towards their studies as well as their values in life!"Taara Mam looked at me as she said to Pushpendra,"I am sure he must have learnt his lesson and is filled with guilt for his indifference and callous behaviour towards his wife!"
