Chapter 13
I’ll Be The Warrior’s Mother
âI told you to undress, why arenât you undressing? Is it leather??â
The effect of alcohol was amazing. Even if she was to run wild, it wouldâve been impossible for her to trap the Duke and demand him to undress.
On the other hand, Yelena was easy to trap.
The Duke pinned her wrists to the bed and fell deep into thought at the sight of his wife, who apparently so badly wanted to undress him.
After a moment of thinking, he wrapped Yelena up in a blanket.
âWhat is this?! I told you to undress! Why are you covering me up? Let me out!â
âStay still.â
âItâs uncomfortable! Let me out!â
âLetâs sleep.â
Yelena tried to move around, encased in her sushi roll, but Duke Mayhard wrapped his arms around her and settled in for the night.
Even with the blankets wrapped around her, she fit right into his embrace.
âLet me outâ¦â Yelenaâs protests turned into whining.
Mayhard could hear the sleepiness in her voice and began to pat her back.
He hesitantly mumbled a quiet: âHush-hushâ¦â
Before he could regret it, Yelena let out a breath which indicated that she was asleep.
Then, before he could regret it, Yelena let out a snore, indicating that she was asleep.
The Dukeâs strategy seemed to have worked surprisingly well.
Stiil, Duke Mayhard didnât stop patting her back, even after she had fallen asleep.
The night was a long one.
The next day, Yelena woke up a bit late and immediately felt like dying.
Seemingly under the Dukeâs orders, a maid came in to wake Yelena up later than usual.
Yelena stared at the lukewarm wash-water the maid had brought in and thought, âIf I smash my face into thatâ¦â
No, it would be very unsightly and painful.
Yelena shook her head. There was no case of someone dying because they had smashed their head into a wash-water basin.
Even if it were possible, she didnât want to die so pathetically, anyway.
As Yelena let out a big sigh, the maid hesitated before asking.
The maid hesitated when Yelena let out a big sigh, before asking, âMy lady, is there something wrong?â
Yelena became lost in thought without answering.
âA problem?â
Yeah, thereâs a problem⦠a big problem at that.
But she wasnât able to say it out loud.
Instead of answering the maid, Yelena put her face in the lukewarm water.
She suddenly recalled a memory from the past.
The law allowed a minor to drink as long as there was an adult with them.
Yelena had started learning how to drink at the age of fifteen, two years before adulthood. This was all because of her older brother, Edward, who was three years older than her.
As her birthday gift, he gave her strong liquor and persuaded her to drink with him.
This resulted in him saying, âDonât drink from now on.â
âI wouldnât have only if you didnât tell me to.â
âDonât ever drink with me again!â
The drunk Yelena had grabbed Edwardâs hair so hard that he had a bump on his head the next morning when he woke up.
After hearing the news from her older sister, Lilliana, Yelena laughed.
âYou shouldâve treated her more nicely. No wonder why Yelena grabbed your hair while she was drunk.â
Yelena agreed with her sister.
She didnât get aggressive due to the alcohol, her love for her brother just became more honest.
Edward always used to let out his frustrations on Yelena whenever his personal affairs didnât go well. It wasnât anything big, but he always tried to bicker with her.
Yelena always dealt with it, but as it was so frequent, her patience started to thin, little by little.
While drunk, she let out all the frustration Edward had caused back onto him.
In short, heâd reaped what heâd sowed.
However, after seeing the swollen egg on Edwardâs head, she found herself guilty enough to form the habit of drinking as little as possible.
Sheâd kept up with this habit until yesterday.
*Splash*
âMy lady!â
Yelena had bumped her head into the wash-water basin, much to the maidâs alarm.
She hadnât done it on purpose, and was actually just trying to gather her thoughts.
Yelena lifted her head from the wash-basin, water dripped down her face.
âReplace this with cold water.â
âIâm sorry?â
âHurry. Bring it as quick as you can.â
A few moments later, sheâd engulfed her face in freezing cold water.
