Chapter 92
I’ll Be The Warrior’s Mother
Confused, Yelena swapped between staring at her empty glass and the wine bottle.
There hadnât been any problems with the flavor of the wine. And judging from how smoothly it had gone down her throat, the alcohol content wasnât too high.
While Yelena was puzzling over this, Kaywhin had already shot up from his seat. Then he quietly stalked over to the window and threw it open.
âKaywhin?â Yelena called out to him, questioning his reason for doing so.
Although the days were starting to get warmer, that only held true while the sun was up, the nights were a different story.
The cool breeze made her body shiver as it blew in through the open window and ran over her bare flesh.
âAre you feeling hot, Husband?â
With a look that showed that he wasnât sure what to say, Kaywhin returned to his seat.
Then, with a complex expression on his face, he said, âRather than me⦠youâre the one who is going to be feeling hot, Wife.â
âI will?â
Yelena blinked her eyes and then laughed as if she had heard a surprising joke.
âThereâs no way. Iâm not the type to get easily overheated. Although I donât do well with the cold.â
In fact, Yelena was at her strongest in summer and at her weakest in winter. Although she did enjoy cold foods, she hated cold weather. So the cold could be said to be her bane.
âAlso, just take a look at the clothes that Iâm wearing.â
Yelena was currently wearing a light indoor coat that looked just like a nightgown. Although the fabric wasnât see-through, there was only one layer, and with the sleeves cut short, it revealed the bare skin of her lower arms.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
âIs there any way that I can feel hot while in this outfit? On the other hand, if you said that I might be feeling coldâ¦â
Yelena, who had been in the middle of a persuasive argument based on her clothing, suddenly froze.
âHold on.â
There was something strange.
âWhy arenât I feeling cold?â
With this cold breeze hitting her bare skin, she should be freezing. Or else, at the very least, she should feel a slight chill.
But currently, she wasâ¦
Yelena soon noticed a change occurring in her own body.
ââ¦oh my. I think I might have a fever?â
Kaywhinâs eyelids shut for a moment before popping back up. His expression showed that he had been expecting this.
Sensing something from his face, Yelena asked, âCould it be, the wine?â
ââ¦â
âSo there was something in the wine? The wine I just drank?â
By this point, she had no other choice but to make this assumption. And then Kaywhin nodded to confirm that her guess was correct.
With a look of disbelief, Yelena first put her empty glass back down onto the table, and then continued speaking, âOh, um, okay thenâ¦â
ââ¦â
âSo I was just drinking some wine, but even though Iâm not drunk, my body is currently heating up, which means there was something in the wineâ¦â
Having rambled through this series of events, Yelena came to her senses and leapt up off her seat.
âThe baron, if he is trying to mess with me-!â
Yelena seemed to be on the verge of running off and finding the owner of the house to have some words with him, but that didnât happen. Because as soon as she got up, she was struck by a huge wave of vertigo.
âUgh!â
As she was about to keel over, Kaywhin, who had been expecting this, met her falling body with his own sturdy frame.
ââ¦it would be best not to make any sudden movements, since youâll be quite dizzy for a while.â
ââ¦â
Yelena was silent, her mind currently at a complete blank. The fact that everything she saw was spinning in front of her was only one of her problems. The other, more important problem, was that she was overly aware of the fact that she was currently being half-embraced by her husband and it left her too flustered to say or do anything.
Even though it wasnât even her bare flesh that was being touched, the parts that were in contact with him felt so hot that it was like they were on fire.
ââ¦ahhh, th-thank you. But, um, this is a bitâ¦â
âPlease excuse me,â with that, Kaywhin swung Yelena up into his arms and walked over to the bed.
Soon Yelena was laid to rest on a soft surface.
âRather than moving around or sitting down, you would be better off laying on your back.â
ââ¦â
Having laid Yelena down onto the bed, Kaywhin pulled a chair over and sat down next to her. By all indications, he was going to continue watching over her from her bedside.
Yelena silently followed her husbandâs every move with her eyes, but soon her lips parted.
âKaywhin.â
âHm.â
âRight now, am I⦠am I under the effects of an aphrodisiac?â
As far as Yelena knew, there was only one type of drug that could cause similar symptoms to what her body was currently experiencing.
ââ¦yes.â
âAs expected.â
Yelena smirked.
âFor it to be an aphrodisiac of all things.â
Without her knowing it, she had been fed the very thing she had been looking for.
ââ¦husband, by any chance, would you happen to know a lot about aphrodisiacs?â
âIâve learned a few things about medicine.â
She supposed that aphrodisiacs were a type of drug. So that was why he had been able to immediately take the appropriate measures to treat her symptoms, from opening the window to laying her down like this.
