My Unexpected Mate: Chapter 27
My Unexpected Mate (The Chosen Saviors Series Book 1)
Calvinâs POV
I hated that bitch.
She took away her memories. She didnât know who I was.
I was going to find that fucking witch and kill her.
Did she really think that taking away the little birdâs memories and moving away would keep her safe from me? That I wouldnât find her? That it would stop me from having her?
I chuckled coldly.
âFuck you, witch,â I muttered under my breath. âI found my treasure despite your pathetic efforts to keep her away from me.â
The only thing that bugged me was that she didnât remember me. My little bird didnât know who I was.
âDonât worry, little bird,â I muttered again, staring at the house. âI will remind you who I am. You will remember me. And we will make new memories together.â
I had been sitting in my car in front of that idiotâs house since I left my little bird at the bakery.
They were inside, I knew it.
They hadnât left the house since then and I didnât know what was going on inside. There was some kind of magical block. A powerful one. I wondered if she had put it up. I couldnât hear or feel what was going on inside. The only way I was able to tell that the house was not empty was by seeing lights go on at night.
My little bird was so powerful. But she was hiding it. Making us wait for her to show herself again. We would take her then.
I frowned. I hate the fact that I would have to share her with Victor. She was mine. He promised he would give her to me once he was done with her.
Maybe that would be for the best. Without her powers, she would not be able to hurt me or run away from me. She will be mine.
I glanced at my watch and saw that it was 10:15 pm. Victor should be calling me soon. Not that I had any news for him. He will be pissed.
I looked at the house again and nothing had changed. I donât think anybody will come out tonight. I leaned back in my car seat and waited for my boss to call me.
Oh, birdie, how I wish I could see you right now.
My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I took it out.
âBoss,â I said.
âCalvin,â he responded. âAny news?â
âNothing. They still havenât left the house,â I told him.
âFuck,â he yells. âI canât wait much more. I need her powers.â
âShouldnât you wait for the twins, boss?â I ask him. âMaybe her powers wouldnât be enough.â
I liked that my little bird was powerful. Maybe I could still keep her even with her powers. She could make me powerful as well. If only I could convince Victor not to take her powers for himself.
âI have been trying to find those twins for ages,â he said angrily. âThey donât exist. I donât think that prophecy is real. She exists. She will have to have enough.â
âWhatâs the rush, boss?â I ask, knowing if I was in front of him, he would have ripped my throat out.
âThose pathetic humans are going to kill every supernatural being if I continue to let them believe they are running the show,â he said. âThere will be no supernaturals left for me to lead and wipe the humans from the face of the Earth.â
My boss was a complete fucker. He had been letting humans kill our kind for a year now, letting them think they were ridding our world of the supernaturals. Again. Now he decided he has had enough. Not because our kind was suffering, but because soon there will be not enough of us left to use for his benefit.
I was no better, really. I didnât care what happened to anyone as long as I got my promised prize. My little bird.
âHow do we get her to show her powers, boss?â I asked him.
I hoped he would let me near her again. He didnât know I approached her in the bakery. He would kill me if he knew.
âWe will have to make her use them,â he said.
I got excited. âDoes that mean I get to go near her?â
âCalvin, you little shit,â he growled. âIf you fuck this up again, I will kill you this time.â
âI know, boss,â I said and rolled my eyes.
I was lucky he couldnât see that. One more reason to end me. He hated disrespect.
âYou will listen to me carefully,â he said slowly. âIn the next few days, you will watch her and everyone around her. They will have to leave that fucking house at some point. You will find her weak spot. When you do, we will plan an attack. She will have to defend her weak spot and she will have to use her powers. Then I will know for sure if she is good enough.â
âAnd if she isnât?â
âThen you can take her right then and there and do as you please,â he said.
Oh, how happy that made me. I kind of hoped she wasnât good enough. It meant she would be mine sooner.
âThank you, boss,â I said. âI will watch her carefully.â
âIf you fuck up, there will be no place in this universe you could hide from me,â he threatened me.
âI know,â I said. âAnd I will not fuck up. I have a lot on the line as well.â
âYou said that the last time as well, Calvin,â he growled.
âLast time was different.â
âYes,â he agreed. âLast time you didnât know how cruel I could be. Remember that, Calvin. Maybe my punishment could be taking your little bird away from you. Making her mine and making you watch. That sounds like an even better punishment than simply killing you.â
He was laughing and my hands started to shake. I clenched my phone in my hand and I heard a little crack.
I will kill that fucker. I will kill anyone who tried to take her from me.
âYou fucâ¦â I started to say but he interrupted me before I could finish.
âI wouldnât finish that if I were you, Calvin,â he said threateningly. âRemember who you are speaking to. Maybe this new punishment will be an even better motive for you to do as I say.â
I gritted my teeth together and gulped.
âThere will be no mistakes this time, boss,â I said through my teeth.
I imagined his beating heart in my hands, me smiling above him while he looked at me in shock and pain. My little bird by my side.
âThere better not be, Calvin,â he said, interrupting my fantasies.
He hung up before I could say anything more.
I threw my phone in the passenger seat and started hitting the steering wheel with my open palms.
I screamed. I was filled with rage.
That stupid motherfucker. I will kill him.
I needed to calm down before somebody saw me.
I took a few deep breaths and closed my eyes.
I imagined my little bird. Her soft skin and her amazing smell. That always calmed me down.
I slowly opened my eyes and clenched my fists around the steering wheel.
I looked toward the house and saw that nothing had changed.
I will watch you, my little bird. I will watch you carefully. I wonât fuck up this time. He will not have you. No one can have you. You are mine.
