My Unexpected Mate: Chapter 52
My Unexpected Mate (The Chosen Saviors Series Book 1)
Gabrielâs POV
âCome on, Aria, focus,â I said as I grabbed her hands in mine. âYou can do it.â
She sighed and closed her eyes. I could see her reaching for the source of her power. We had been practicing for the last three days and she was getting better. She could now project emotions, but she still had trouble with focusing them on a single person. She brought us all down yesterday when she projected pain.
âCan you feel my aura?â I asked her. âCan you feel my warmth?â
âYes,â she mumbled with her eyes still closed.
âGood,â I said. âWe all have our auras. We all have different levels of warmth. You need to differentiate it. Separate us from one another and focus only on one of us. Try focusing on me. Feel me.â
Her eyebrows scrunched together, and her hands squeezed mine.
âTry focusing on what you feel for me,â I told her. âDonât create an emotion. Project your own feelings. That should be easier to do.â
She took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly. A few minutes passed, but I felt no emotion coming from her. I wanted to say something and help her, but I was afraid I would distract her.
I continued looking at her face and waiting.
A few moments later, a warm feeling spread through me. I recognized it as love.
She loved me.
A huge smile spread across my face.
She opened her eyes and looked at me. âDid it work?â
âYou love me,â I said happily.
âI do,â she smiled.
I pulled her to me and hugged her tight. Goddess, I couldnât be happier right now.
âDid I do it?â she asked, still wrapped in my arms. âAre you the only one who felt it?â
âI donât know,â I said as I let her go. âLetâs go ask them. We should stop anyway. I donât want to tire you out.â
She nodded and we got up, walking out of the room.
âItâs Nickâs birthday tomorrow,â I said when we left my room.
Her eyes widened and she stopped walking. âWhy didnât you tell me sooner?!â
âI forgot,â I shrugged. âSorry.â
âShit,â she muttered. âWe have to do something. Like a small party or something like that. I canât really go buy him anything right now.â
âWe could do that,â I smiled. âTonight, maybe?â
âYeah,â she nodded. âWe should surprise him.â
âGood idea,â I said and took her hand in mine. âCome on, letâs go downstairs and talk to the guys.â
We walked downstairs and saw Cassie and Jacob sitting in the living room.
âDid you feel something a few minutes ago?â Aria asked them as soon as we reached downstairs.
âWhat?â Cassie asked, turning to look at her.
âWarm feeling,â I said. âLove.â
Jacob and Cassie shook their heads, and a huge smile spread across Ariaâs face. She jumped into my arms and hugged me tightly. I wrapped her legs around my waist so she wouldnât fall and hugged her close to me.
âI did it!â she squealed happily.
âI knew you could do it,â I said as I turned my head to kiss her temple.
âYou managed to project to one person only?â Jacob asked excitedly.
Aria let go of my neck to look at Jacob, but she didnât jump out of my arms.
âYes,â she said. âIt took me a long time, but I did it.â
âYou will be able to do it faster, now that you know how,â I said.
She looked at me and smiled.
âWhat is all that?â I heard Nickâs voice behind Aria.
I looked at him over her shoulder and saw he was pointing at Aria in my arms. She turned around to look at him, and I let her go.
âI managed to project only on Gabriel!â Aria told him.
Nick smiled warmly at her. âNice job, love. I knew you could do it.â
He walked up to her and kissed her forehead, and she wrapped her arms around his waist.
âYou are a badass, Minnie,â Blake said and sat down beside Cassie.
âThanks, Blakey,â Aria grinned at him.
âWhat did I tell you about calling me that?!â he narrowed his eyes at her in mock anger.
Cassie, Aria, and Jacob burst out laughing.
âOh, Goddess, I totally forgot about Blakey,â Cassie said as she laughed loudly.
Blake rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest.
âNick, can you help me with something in the kitchen?â Aria asked him.
He nodded and started walking. Aria followed him and looked at me intently. She was leading him away so I could tell the guys about the surprise party.
As soon as they left, I walked over to the guys and sat down on the couch.
âTomorrow is Nickâs birthday,â I said quietly. âAria and I were thinking about throwing him a surprise party tonight.â
Cassie squealed excitedly.
I shushed her down. âYou will give it away.â
âSorry,â she smiled. âI am excited. Itâs been a while since we went to a party.â
âYou mean itâs been a while since you had an excuse to wear a dress,â Jacob said teasingly.
âThat too,â she rolled her eyes.
âOkay, so does everyone agree?â I asked, looking among the three of them.
They nodded, and I smiled.
âIt will not be anything big,â I said. âWe canât go buy him anything. But we have enough liquor and snacks to relax and have fun tonight.â
âGreat,â Blake sighed. âI think we all need it.â
I nodded, and Cassie shushed us. âThey are coming back.â
Aria and Nick walked back inside, and Aria gave me a questioning look. I nodded and she smiled.
âDo you want to have a spa day, Ari?â Cassie asked, turning to look at Aria. âJust you and me. Hair mask, face mask, soaking in the bathtub. What do you say?â
âI say hell yes,â Aria smiled. âThat sounds amazing.â
âGreat,â Cassie said and got off the couch.
She grabbed Ariaâs hand and pulled her upstairs. They were laughing and chatting excitedly.
âShould we make lunch?â Jacob asked.
âI would help, but my cooking skills are terrible,â I said as I raised my hands in surrender.
âDonât worry,â Blake laughed. âJake is an amazing cook. He wonât need any help.â
âYou will help,â Jacob said and stood up. âI need somebody to fetch things for me.â
Blake rolled his eyes and followed Jacob to the kitchen.
Ariaâs POV
When we walked inside Cassieâs room, she squealed excitedly and gave me a tight hug.
I shushed her. âQuiet. You will give it away!â
âI canât help it,â she said as she let me go. âI am so excited.â
âI can see that,â I laughed.
âYour present will be the best one,â she said and winked at me.
I furrowed my eyebrows. âWhat present? I donât have anything for him. Hence the party.â
âYou will be his present,â she smirked at me.
My eyes widened.
âOh, come on, Ari,â she sighed and sat down on her bed. âThat man is one fine piece of ass. Donât tell me you donât want to hit that.â
I could feel myself blushing. I did want him. I was just a lot braver to admit that when I was turned on than right now.
âI do want him,â I said quietly and looked down at my feet.
âOf course, you do,â Cassie said. âHe is your mate.â
I looked up at her and smiled. âWhat do I do?â
âYou will look amazing tonight,â she said with a playful smirk on her face. âHe wonât be able to tear his eyes away from you. And when the party ends, you will take him to your room and show him the meaning of pleasure.â
I laughed. âOh, Goddess, Cass. That doesnât sound like me at all.â
She flicked her hair behind her shoulder. âI will teach you.â
âOkay, now I do need that spa day,â I said and rolled my eyes playfully.
Cassie laughed and stood up. She took my hand and led me to the bathroom.
âDo you have a bathing suit?â she asked me and started filling up the tub.
I guess she wasnât joking when she said we would soak up in the bathtub.
âNo,â I said. âYou do?â
âOf course,â she said, rolling her eyes at me. âThatâs why I like Annie. She is always prepared. Just like me.â
I chuckled and shook my head.
âCome on,â she said and went back to her bedroom. âI will give you one of mine.â
I followed her and sat down on her bed. She rummaged through her closet and pulled out a two-piece red bikini.
âThis should fit you,â she said as she handed me the bikini. âGo change and wait for me in the bath. Do you want a gin tonic?â
I raised my eyebrows at her. âWe are drinking?â
âYes, girl,â she said enthusiastically. âWe are starting early.â
I laughed and nodded. âHurry up.â
She winked at me and ran downstairs to get us a couple of drinks. I smiled and went inside the bathroom to change.
Cassie came back, and before I knew it, we were sitting in her bathtub, sipping our drinks and chatting.
âDid Annie call?â I asked Cassie.
âYes,â she said. âStill nothing. But we shouldnât be talking about that.â
âI know,â I sighed and took a sip of my drink. âI am worried. Itâs been three days since they left.â
âDonât worry, Ari,â she said. âThey will find her.â
We heard the bedroom door open and Gabrielâs voice calling for us.
âBathroom!â Cassie shouted.
Gabriel peeked inside and chuckled when he saw us. âI am jealous.â
âYou should be,â Cassie said.
âIs everything okay?â I asked him.
âYes,â he smiled at me. âJust came here to tell you I convinced Nick to take a walk with me later. It will give you time to set up.â
âGreat,â I smiled brightly.
âNow go,â Cassie scolded him. âYou are disturbing our spa day.â
Gabriel laughed and left the bathroom.
âSo, what are you wearing tonight?â Cassie looked at me with a smirk on her face.
âI have no idea,â I sighed.
âTell me you have a dress,â Cassie rolled her eyes.
âNope,â I shrugged. âDidnât pack one.â
âYou are killing me, woman,â Cassie whined. âYou are lucky to have me, you know?â
âThe luckiest,â I smiled and blew her a kiss.
âI have just the dress for you,â she smiled wickedly. âYou will look like a candy he will want to unwrap.â
I laughed aloud. âGoddess, Cass, where did you pick up that talk?â
She splashed water on me, and we ended up laughing until our bellies hurt.
After a long bath, Cassie and I ended up in her room choosing our dresses for Nickâs surprise party.
Cassie chose a black dress that reached just above her knees and hugged her body perfectly. She put on silver high heels that made my head spin.
âHow the hell are you walking in those?â I chuckled and pointed at her shoes.
âPractice, my darling,â she said and winked at me. âClose your eyes so I can do your eyeliner.â
I closed my eyes and let her do her magic. She curled my hair in soft waves and let it fall down my back. I told her to keep my makeup light and she did. I was really happy with the way I looked.
Cassie put her long hair in a tight ponytail, and her makeup was perfect. She kept the makeup on her eyes light, but she put on bold red lipstick that looked perfect on her.
âOkay,â she said as she put the final coat of her lipstick on. âNow itâs time for your dress.â
She walked to her closet and took out a gorgeous red satin dress. It had thin straps, and it was short. Maybe a bit too short for my taste.
âIt is gorgeous,â I said quietly. âBut I donât know, Cass. It is not me.â
She rolled her eyes at me. âDonât fight with me. Put it on.â
I sighed and took the dress from her. I went to the bathroom and put it on. It was amazing. It fell down to my mid-thigh and it showed each and every curve of my body. I felt beautiful.
I stepped out of the bathroom into the room, and Cassieâs mouth fell open.
âOh, my Goddess,â she said quietly. âYou look amazing!â
âI feel amazing,â I smiled shyly. âBut are you sure, Cass? Maybe it is too much. I mean, my brother is downstairs.â
âIf you take this dress off, I am going to kill you!â She threatened me in a serious voice.
I rolled my eyes and sighed. âFine.â
I put on a pair of black high heels and took another look in the mirror. Iâve never felt prettier.
âLetâs go downstairs,â Cassie said and took my hand in hers. âGuys probably need help setting up.â
