Chapter 426: 425 Blind Dates

In the hotel across from MS Group

Wen Ran, Mo Xiuchen, and Gu Kai arrived at a private room. The waiter served them each a cup of hot water and brought several fruit plates. Before they had even left the room, Wen Ran’s phone started buzzing.

“It’s Xiaoxiao calling.”

Seeing the incoming call, Wen Ran blinked in confusion and informed Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai.

Mo Xiuchen smiled and said, “Answer it!”

He reached out to pick a piece of fruit, feeding it to her mouth. Wen Ran flashed him a brilliant smile, gracefully taking a small bite. She pressed the answer button, and the remaining part of the fruit was stuffed into Mo Xiuchen’s mouth.

Gu Kai glanced at Mo Xiuchen and leaned back in his chair. His eyebrows were coated with a layer of boredom, and he gently massaged his temples with his hands.

“Hey, Xiaoxiao, Luo Haofeng is already on his way to your place. He’ll arrive soon, so don’t worry.”

Wen Ran spoke with a smile, her tone light and cheerful.

On the other end of the phone, Bai Xiaoxiao said something Wen Ran wasn’t expecting. The smile on her face vanished instantly, and her beautiful eyebrows knit together. From the side, Mo Xiuchen watched her changing expressions with narrowed eyes.

“Xiaoxiao, didn’t you just agree? Why are you suddenly backing out? Did Luo Haofeng do something to upset you?”

Wen Ran wondered if maybe Luo Haofeng had called Bai Xiaoxiao while on his way and upset her, causing her to suddenly decline.

Because Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice was tinged with certain gloominess.

Gu Kai’s gaze shifted, and he paused in his massaging for a second before continuing.

“Is there a reason why? Luo Haofeng is already halfway there. You can’t just leave me hanging.”

“Auntie Wang from my neighbourhood introduced me to a man, and my mom set up a meeting without telling me. I need to meet up with him later.”

Over the phone, Bai Xiaoxiao honestly explained to Wen Ran, who was pressing her for answers.

“A blind date?”

Wen Ran was shocked and asked, “Xiaoxiao, Aunt Qiao arranged a blind date for you, are you willing too?”

She didn’t believe Bai Xiaoxiao would agree to a blind date. But if she wasn’t willing, Aunt Qiao couldn’t force her unless she was willing to go.

“The meeting is already confirmed, and if I don’t show up my mom won’t stop nagging at me. Ranran, can you call Luo Haofeng for me and tell him not to come? I’m about to leave with my mom to meet that guy.”

Wen Ran hesitated before asking again.

Bai Xiaoxiao gave her an address and ended the call.

“Ranran, who is Bai Xiaoxiao going on a blind date with?”

Seeing her hang up the phone, Gu Kai curiously asked from across the table. Mo Xiuchen looked at her with gentle eyes and softly pressed his lips together.

“She’s meeting a lawyer who Aunt Qiao introduced. The meeting is already arranged and it wouldn’t be appropriate to cancel.”

Wen Ran explained briefly and then added, “Can one of you call Luo Haofeng to tell him to come back? Xiaoxiao has already left with her mom. If he goes there, he won’t be able to meet her.”

Mo Xiuchen smiled faintly and casually suggested, “Ranran, didn’t you ask Bai Xiaoxiao where she was meeting for her blind date? Ah Feng is almost at the Bai family’s place. If we tell him to come back, he’ll definitely whine. Why don’t we let him go straight to Bai Xiaoxiao’s blind date location?”

Wen Ran blinked in surprise. “Are we sure this is okay? I think if Aunt Qiao is arranging boyfriends for Xiaoxiao, she probably isn’t very fond of Luo Haofeng. He’s been visiting the Bai family frequently since the Lunar New Year. I don’t see why Aunt Qiao hasn’t noticed yet.”

Gu Kai agreed with Wen’s point, “Wen Ran is right. Bai Xiaoxiao’s mom definitely realized it. But she’s still finding other boyfriends for Bai Xiaoxiao, which can only mean that she’s not satisfied with Ah Feng.”

He looked at Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran and continued, “Do you two remember the surprise in Bai Xiaoxiao’s mom’s eyes when she met Ah Feng for the first time?”

“Is there? I didn’t notice.”

Mo Xiuchen squinted and shook his head.

Gu Kai smirked at him, “When has your gaze ever strayed from Ranran when she’s around? It’s normal for you not to have noticed. Ranran wouldn’t have noticed either. At that time, she was totally focused on Bai Xiaoxiao. But I noticed, I just never mentioned it.”

“Then let’s not get Luo Haofeng involved anymore. I’ll call him and ask him to come back.”

If they kept going like this, Luo Haofeng would have arrived at the Bai family’s house.

After a few rings, Luo Haofeng finally picked up. “Hello, Wen Ran, I just arrived at Xiaoxiao’s house. Tell Mo Xiuchen and Ah Kai to wait for me.”

Wen Ran felt a pang of guilt and said, “Luo Haofeng, well, I’m calling to tell you that Xiaoxiao can’t make it due to some reasons. You don’t need to pick her up. Just come back to the hotel.”

“I’m literally at her doorstep. What kind of business does she have? I’ll call her.”

The tone between Luo Haofeng’s first and second sentences had noticeably changed.

Wen Ran wanted to say something else, but Luo Haofeng had already hung up.

“Ah Feng doesn’t believe you?”

Mo Xiuchen asked softly, taking away Wen Ran’s phone and holding her hand. The room was cozy and warm, but her palms were still slightly cool.

“He said he’s already at her doorstep and wants to call Xiaoxiao himself.”

“Let him call then. Ah Kai, ask the waiter to serve the dishes now. We don’t need to wait for him anymore.”

Mo Xiuchen spoke casually, his lips curled into a slight smile.

If Ah Feng genuinely likes Bai Xiaoxiao to the point of letting go, he certainly wouldn’t back down just because Bai’s mother doesn’t like him.

The waiter served the dishes quickly, and the table was soon filled with food.

The room smelled appetizing, causing Wen Ran to realize how hungry she truly was.

“Ranran, stop worrying about Ah Feng and Xiaoxiao. Here, have a chicken wing first.”

Gu Kai picked up a chicken wing and placed it on Wen Ran’s plate. Mo Xiuchen served her a bowl of soup, insisting she drink it first.

“If you let Ranran fill up on soup, how will she eat the rest?”

Gu Kai chuckled while looking at Mo Xiuchen. It seemed that he was intentionally contradicting him. He told Ranran to eat a chicken wing, but Mo Xiuchen made her soup instead.

Mo Xiuchen chuckled lightly, “That just shows what you don’t understand. The best thing in this hotel is the soup. It doesn’t matter if Ranran only has the soup.”

“I can’t just have soup. I can’t let you two finish everything on the table. Eat your own food, no need to worry about me.”

After taking a sip of the soup, which really was quite good, Wen Ran laughed and picked up the chicken wing, biting into it. The food from this hotel was truly excellent.

Just as she finished her chicken wing, Luo Haofeng’s call came in.

“Ranran, eat up, I’ll answer.”

Mo Xiuchen picked up the phone, “Hello, Ah Feng!”

“Ask Wen Ran where Bai Xiaoxiao went.”

From the other end of the line, Luo Haofeng’s voice came through, cold and with a touch of anger. His call with Bai Xiaoxiao must have ended on a sour note.
