Chapter 465: The person she hates is me.
Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict
âJust a careless bump,â Bai Xiaoxiao said flippantly. Wen Ran withdrew her hand and didnât press further. Instead, she turned to Mother Bai and said softly, âAuntie, please give me the bowl, I will feed Xiaoxiao.â
âOkay!â
Mother Bai knew that the sisters were deeply bonded and that Wen Ran probably had a lot to discuss with Xiaoxiao. She smiled slightly and handed over the bowl filled with soup, âIâll give a call to Uncle Bai, so he wonât have to worry and can come over after heâs dealt with his business at the company.â
Mother Bai took off after saying this, leaving the hospital room.
Mo Xiuchen and the others didnât come in.
Inside the room, only Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao were left. Holding the bowl in her hand, Wen Ran didnât intend to feed Xiaoxiao. Instead, she asked softly, âXiaoxiao, how did you bump your forehead?â
âWhy are you asking again?â
Bai Xiaoxiao frowned. She had just mentioned that it was a careless bump. Her mother believed her, but this girl, Wen Ran didnât.
Wen Ran looked at her seriously, âYou can fool Aunt Qiao with that, but not me. You didnât bump into something accidentally. You did it to yourself, didnât you? What did Xiao Wenqing do to make you want to kill yourself by hitting your head?â
While speaking, Wen Ran fluctuated between sadness and anger.
âRanran, donât be angry. It was just a rash decision, and besides, Iâm fine now, arenât I?â
Bai Xiaoxiao let out a soft sigh. She knew that if she didnât confess, Wen Ran would keep probing or might even question Xiao Wenqing. Rather than Xiao Wenqing spilling the beans, she decided to tell Wen Ran herself.
âDid Xiao Wenqing force you?â
Wen Ranâs grip on the bowl tightened.
âXiao Wenqing wanted to use me to reach you, to threaten you with my life, to make you surrender willingly. Ranran, Xiao Wenqing wants nothing more than to devour your flesh and drink your blood. She said that if she got her hands on you, she would torture you endlessly, making you wish for death but unable to die. She also wants to use you to crush Mo Xiuchenâ¦â
âSo, you foolishly tried to kill yourself to stop her from getting what she wanted? Bai Xiaoxiao, how could you be so naïve? Xiao Wenqing despises me, she is after me. Even if she used you to lure me into her trap, you shouldnât have contemplated suicide.â
Wen Ran was agitated. She stared at the bruise on Bai Xiaoxiaoâs forehead, trying to hold back the tears that were welling up in her eyes, and said with a heavy heart, âYou havenât fully recovered from your previous injury, and now youâre foolishly hurting yourself again.â
âRanran, Iâm fine, really.â
Seeing Wen Ranâs eyes brimming with tears, Bai Xiaoxiaoâs nose wrinkled, stinging with sadness.
âNo matter what happens in the future, you are forbidden from doing anything foolish ever again,â Wen Ran sniffed hard and warned, her tone stern.
âOkay, I promise. Stop shedding tears, or else Mo Xiuchen is going to worry about you,â Bai Xiaoxiao joked, looking towards the door and smiling.
âIâll feed you first.â
Wen Ran turned her sorrow into laughter. She wiped away her tears, picked up the spoon and tested the soupâs temperature. Finding it just right, she brought it to Bai Xiaoxiaoâs lips.
As Bai Xiaoxiao sipped the soup, she said softly, âRanran, I promise that no matter what happens, I wonât act foolishly like I did yesterday. I want you to promise me the same; no matter what happens in the future, you have to be strong and not do anything foolish, okay?â
The urgency with which Xiao Wenqing had gone after Wen Ran was in part because her scandalous plot failed to affect Wen Ran. If Bai Xiaoxiao hadnât escaped, their only option would have been to exchange herself for Bai Xiaoxiaoâs freedom.
She would have done exactly that.
Even if Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai would have disapproved, she would have been steadfast in her resolve. She had already made up her mind on the plane.
As soon as she fell into Xiao Wenqingâs hands, she would have been cruelly tortured, both mentally and physically. Her inability to bear children would be one of the first things Xiao Wenqing would use to torment her.
A flicker of confusion crossed Wen Ranâs face, unsure as to what Bai Xiaoxiao meant.
Bai Xiaoxiao frowned, pretending to be upset as she said, âDonât look at me like that. Promise me first that no matter what happens, you wonât hurt yourself or those around you.â
Wen Ran chuckled, âAlright, I promise you.â
She thought about it and concluded that the ordeal Bai Xiaoxiao had undergone must have rattled her nerves, resulting in such strange utterances. Though Xiao Wenqing had been apprehended, Wu Tianyi was still at large.
However, she believed in karma, that those committing atrocities would ultimately face their downfall.
âGive me the bowl, I can eat on my own. Your gentle feeding is excruciatingly slow,â said Bai Xiaoxiao. As she spoke, a smile crept onto her face. She reached for the bowl.
âIâll feed you,â Wen Ran refused to hand over the bowl.
âNo, my handâs fine. I can eat by myself. Your polite feeding manners are too much for me,â said Bai Xiaoxiao laughingly, so Wen Ran reluctantly handed her the bowl.
âXiaoxiao, how did you think of calling Luo Haofeng last night, instead of Uncle Bai and the others?â
While Xiaoxiao was sipping the soup, Wen Ran casually asked.
Bai Xiaoxiao looked up at her and said naturally, âIt was late in the night, and I didnât want to disturb mom and dad. Yesterday, when Xiao Wenqing called them, I could hear mom crying on the phone. If I had called in the middle of the night, they wouldnât have been able to sleep at all.â
Wen Ran smiled knowingly, âAnyway, you were able to call Luo Haofeng first and needed his assistance urgently. Needless to say, he must be walking on air.â
Realising the implications behind Wen Ranâs words, Bai Xiaoxiao constrained her surprise and glanced at the door. Quietly, she said, âRanran, me and Luo Haofeng, itâs just not possible.â
âWhy? Donât you like him?â
Wen Ran was taken aback, looking at Bai Xiaoxiao incredulously. A moment later she added, âIs it because Aunt Qiao doesnât like Luo Haofeng? Is she still upset about the time he ruined your blind date? Even so, Luo Haofeng did rescue you last night, so Aunt Qiao should have let it go by now.â
Bai Xiaoxiaoâs gaze darkened, âLuo Haofeng did save me last night, but my mother hasnât changed her opinion about him. She warned me bluntly at lunch that she wouldnât approve of us dating and told me not to fall for him.â
Wen Ran was surprised, her eyes firmly fixed on Bai Xiaoxiao, âXiaoxiao, do you also have feelings for Luo Haofeng?â
âI donât know. Because of Xiao Yuting, I had already given my mother many years of worry. I donât want to upset her again over another man. My feelings for Luo Haofeng are merely those of friendship.â
Even if there had ever been a moment of infatuation, her motherâs words quickly snuffed it out.
âLuo Haofeng is still waiting for you outside. Rumour has it, he hasnât seen you since morning.â
Wen Ran pursed her lips and reminded her softly.
There was a flicker of emotion in Bai Xiaoxiaoâs eyes. She lowered her head and continued to drink her soup.
Two minutes later, the door of the hospital room was pushed open. Mo Xiuchenâs tall figure appeared at the door, he called out in a deep, mellifluous voice, âRanran, Xiaoxiao, are you two done whispering? If youâre done, weâre coming in.â
