Bai Xiaoxiao also looked surprised. She glanced past him at Qin Mu, who was sitting on the sofa, and asked awkwardly, “Is Doctor Gu not here?”

Luo Haofeng’s handsome face changed slightly, then quickly returned to normal. He stepped aside to let her in, “Ah Kai is in the operating room, he will be back soon. You can come in and wait.”

Bai Xiaoxiao looked at him stepping aside, and thought that if she left now, she would appear pretentious. He might even think that she didn’t want to wait because of him.

“Ah Kai’s operation won’t take long. We’re waiting for him too. Come and sit.”

On the sofa, Qin Mu held a cup in both hands, looked at her indifferently, and then casually glanced at Luo Haofeng before speaking calmly.

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled at Qin Mu, entered the office, and Luo Haofeng, seeing her enter, closed the door and followed her to the sofa. Instead of sitting down immediately, he asked like a host, “What would you like to drink? Coffee, tea, or a soft drink?”

Upon hearing Bai Xiaoxiao’s question, instead of replying, Qin Mu cast a casual glance at Luo Haofeng. Luo Haofeng, meeting his gaze, looked at Bai Xiaoxiao with his enchanting eyes.

Her eyes were clear and casual. She held his gaze without seeming unnatural, and there was no ripple in the depths of her eyes. A thought crossed his mind, so he said, “Yes, it’s true. Not only has Xiuchen resigned, but so have Ah Mu and I. We’re planning to get together with Ah Kai once more before we leave.”

Bai Xiaoxiao looked surprised, her eyes widened. After glancing at Qin Mu, she looked back at Luo Haofeng, “Both of you resigned?”

Qin Mu smiled faintly, his tone very calm, “Yes, we stayed in G City for Xiuchen. Now that he’s gone, we no longer have a reason to stay. Coincidently, Ah Feng’s family is urging him to return home to take over the company, so we’re planning to head home tomorrow.”

He specifically mentioned Luo Haofeng returning to take over his family company while subtly observing any changes in Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression.

Bai Xiaoxiao felt a hint of queerness stirring inside her. It was indescribable. It felt like constriction, and a hint of pain.

There was a faint bitter taste as well. Unknowingly, her two hands, resting on her legs, were now crossed and clenched together.

The scene of him picking her up from the car in the early morning, his eyes filled with concern and worry, asking anxiously if she was hurt, came to her mind. Suddenly, she felt a slight discomfort in her chest.

The timing of Qin Mu’s cellphone ringing was impeccable. The moment it rang, he stood up and said, “Chat amongst yourselves, I need to take a call.”

He picked up his cell phone, swiftly left the office, and thoughtfully closed the door, leaving only Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao behind.

The call was from his grandfather. He answered the call and asked straightforwardly, “Dad, do you have a result yet?”

“You can’t expect it to be so quick. I’m calling to tell you that I’ve arranged for people to start investigating. A specialized team is going to G City. Don’t interfere.”

A deep light flashed in Qin Mu’s eyes. He looked up at the white ceiling before saying, “I called you because I do not intend to interfere.”

“When are you coming back?”

His grandfather’s voice sounded somewhat heavy on the other end.

Over the years, he had consistently defied his arrangements. Previously, he claimed it was for Xiuchen, to help him get revenge.

Now that Xiuchen had left MS Group, he no longer had an excuse.

“I’ll go back in a few days, in time for Mom’s birthday.”

Qin Mu pondered for a moment, then gave a specific timeframe. His mother’s birthday was one week away.

He wanted to stay in G City a bit longer because he could get first-hand information on the situation with MS Group and the recent development with Wen Ran. If he went back home, it would be different.
