Chapter 591: I'd rather you hate me
Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict
Before he met Wen Ran, Mo Xiuchen thought all women liked treasures, jewelry, and expensive clothes. Although Qin Mu and Gu Kai, who were with him, didnât have much interest in women, there was Luo Haofeng, a known womanizer.
The women around him seemed to like such things, and Luo Haofeng was always generous, so Mo Xiuchen had come to think that all women were like that.
He didnât hate that women liked jewelry and trinkets, but thought they might appear vulgar if adorned with too many such things. This was especially true for some women who werenât particularly attractive and already had a certain vulgarity about them.
Because heâs always missed the little girl who once saved him, he had absolutely no interest in these vulgar women. But when he met Ranran at a party, his eyes lit up at the sight of her.
She seemed like a fairy who had accidentally wandered into the human world, fresh and spirited, delicate yet adorable. More importantly, the feeling she gave him when their eyes first met somehow felt familiar.
Especially when she gripped his wrist, his instinct was to hold her hand back immediately. At that moment, he felt like his soul was shaking.
âMo Xiuchen, are you saying that I should ruin you?â
Wen Ranâs clear voice interrupted Mo Xiuchenâs train of thought. As he looked into her bright, shining eyes, the smile at the corner of his mouth deepened, âYou better try hard then because otherwise, you wonât ruin me in this lifetime.â
âHow much money do you have?â
Wen Ran raised an eyebrow, looking like she could dissolve his fortune the moment he named a figure.
Someone was passing by at that moment and hearing her conversation, couldnât help but gaze their way. Mo Xiuchen laughed lightly, covered her mouth with his hand, and said in a mysterious tone, âShhh, Ranran, keep your voice down. One doesnât flaunt their wealth. Iâll tell you when we get home.â
Wen Ran shot him a glare, then mocked with a laugh as she noticed some people looking their way. âAlright, then. Give me a figure tonight so I can plan how to make you broke.â
Mo Xiuchen nodded solemnly, his palm sliding down to hold her hand again. âThink about what you want to eat tonight. After we drop off the things at the hotel, weâll go for dinner.â
Wen Ran thought for a second, then said, âI donât feel like going out anymore. My legs are sore from walking all day. Letâs just eat at the hotel.â
She hadnât slept much the night before due to Mo Xiuchenâs disturbances, and after receiving an injection in the morning and having not taken any naps while afternoon, sheâd only slept for an hour.
Since spending a lot more time walking around, luckily her shoes were comfortable. Had she been wearing heels, it wouldnât have just been her legs that were sore; blisters would have formed on her feet.
âAlright, if you donât want to go, then we wonât. Iâll have them deliver dinner to our room, and you should go to bed early after eating.â
After eating dinner and resting for half an hour, Mo Xiuchen got up to run a bath for Wen Ran.
When she was done bathing, he thoughtfully brought her a cup of warm milk, whispered, âRanran, drink this milk. Iâll dry your hair for you.â
Coming out of the bath, she was thirsty. She thanked him and gulped down the milk. Afterward, she obediently sat in front of the vanity allowing Mo Xiuchen to dry her wet hair.
Her hair wasnât even dry yet when Wen Ran began to yawn uncontrollably, tiredly saying, âMo Xiuchen, Iâm sleepy.â
Her eyes felt heavy, struggling to stay open. She was puzzled about why she felt so sleepy and simply wanted to sleep.
âIf you want to sleep, go ahead. Iâll carry you to bed.â
Mo Xiuchenâs eyes shone deeply as he put down the hairdryer and carried her in his arms.
Her hair was still half wet when he put her in bed, covered her with the blanket, picked up the hairdryer again, and continued to dry her hair.
Once in bed, Mo Xiuchen lifted the blanket and gently held Wen Ran, who was fast asleep, in his arms.
âRanran, I love you.â
In the silent room, he murmured to himself.
He loved her, and wasnât sure what to do.
He loved her, to the point where he wished he could take all her illnesses and torment.
He loved her, to the point of being willing to exchange his life for her health.
No matter whether this idea could save her, no matter what the outcome would be, even if she hated him in the end.
He was willing to do it.
He would exhaust all his efforts to save her.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
He also knew that Gu Yan, Brown, and Joseph spent all day in the lab, trying to find the best treatment while racing against time. They didnât know when theyâd succeed, but Mo Xiuchen deeply believed that they would eventually find a cure.
However, he couldnât stand seeing Ranran undergo daily injections, infusions, blood tests, and all sorts of examinationsâ¦
The sight of these pierced his heart and made him ache.
He wished that his Ranran could be as lively and happy as the first time he saw her. He wanted her to be healthy. Even if he was not by her side in the end, he wanted her to live a good life.
âRanran, I might be selfish by doing this.â
He lay down and turned on his side, pulling Ranran into his arms. The faint fragrance that lingered from her body was nose-caressing, making his heart soften like a lake.
Gazing at her peaceful face while she was asleep with his tender passion, he gently kissed her forehead and whispered, âRanran, I cannot live without you. If I can transfer your poison into my body, if I canât accompany you to the end, you must hate me.â
âIâd rather have you hate me than love me.â
He cherished every moment he got to spend with Ranran. If it werenât an exceptional circumstance, he wouldnât be considering such a bleak solution. It was just no fun.
âRanran, youâre just a little silly. How could I bear to throw you into cold water to lower your temperature?â
âRanran, will you know what we did tonight when you wake up tomorrow?â
You were sleeping so soundly tonight. You probably wonât know, right?
