Once they got in the car, Wen Ran told Bai Xiaoxiao in a soft voice, “Xiaoxiao, let’s go to the courier company first. I want to send these things back to G City.”

Bai Xiaoxiao looked at her wide-eyed again, asking in confusion, “Ranran, are you planning on having your family’s pharmaceutical factory produce skincare products or are you planning on having Mo Xiuchen open a beauty salon and attract customers by standing at the door?”

Wen Ran gave her a glare and chuckled, “If we really need to attract customers, we should let Luo Haofeng do it. With his charming smile, I guarantee that everyone from the ages of seventy to seven would hand over their money willingly.”

Bai Xiaoxiao glared at Wen Ran, “So you’re saying your Mo Xiuchen is only capable of scaring away customers?”

Wen Ran let out a chuckle and gave her a look that said ‘you’re absolutely right,’ putting on her seatbelt, and said, “You’re right, Xiuchen does scare people away.”

Bai Xiaoxiao thought about the icy good-looking Mo Xiuchen standing at the door, with his cold intimidating stare and a chilling aura which is enough to freeze people, he really wasn’t someone who could pull in business.

She laughed out loud.

“Your Mo Xiuchen only showers you with the warmth of spring, for other women, he only has the chill of harsh winter. Ranran, you’re a really lucky person, one that makes people envious and jealous.”

Bai Xiaoxiao started the car and drove off towards the courier company that was not far from their location.

Once they got there, Wen Ran packed all the things they bought and sent them back to G City. By the time they returned to the car, Mo Xiuchen called.

“Ranran, where are you guys?”

Xiuchen’s deep, gentle voice was as pleasing to the ears as melodious notes. Every time he heard it, Wen Ran felt an immediate sense of warmth and happiness. A gentle and soft look spread across her face as a faint smile emerged on her lips, “Xiaoxiao and I are about to head back to the hotel.”

The past few days of fun allowed her to temporarily let go of her worries and enjoy this hard-earned happiness to the fullest.

“Ranran, we’re at Ah Mu’s home. Aunt Qin found out we’re going back to G City tomorrow and insisted we come over for dinner. Do you and Xiaoxiao know the way?”

Mo Xiuchen’s gentle question over the phone implied that if they did not know the way, he would come pick them up.

Wen Ran thought about it and finally responded, “Yes, I know the way. You don’t need to pick us up, we can just head over.”

When their car reached the next intersection, Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao were stuck in a long line of vehicles. From sunset until dusk, the vehicles in front of them did not move at all.

“Ranran, are you still stuck in traffic?”

Xiuchen had already called once, this was the second time he was checking in. Wen Ran looked at the line of vehicles in the dark and said helplessly, “Yes, we’re still stuck.”

“The traffic in A city is really congested. Ranran, don’t worry. The reason for the congestion is a car accident which has been cleared up now, and traffic should return to normal in a while.”

Xiuchen not only knew the cause but was also aware of the progress.

Wen Ran replied with a smile, “I’m not in a hurry.”

By the time they arrived at the Qin family’s house, it had already gotten completely dark. Mother Qin warmly welcomed Bai Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran, while apologizing in a tone typical of an A city native for the city’s frequent traffic congestions.

Aside from Mo Xiuchen and the others, there were no other guests that night. During the meal, Mother Qin mentioned that she had prepared some local specialties from A City for Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran to take back for their families.

Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao did not decline. Mother Qin had probably already informed Mo Xiuchen and Luo Haofeng before telling them about it. Hence, their refusal would only make them seem pretentious.

Moreover, considering Mo Xiuchen’s relationship with Qin Mu, Wen Ran felt that there was no need to decline Mother Qin’s kind offer.

When they left, two security guards moved the items to the car. Qin Mu accompanied them to the door and calmly said, “I’ll take you to the airport tomorrow morning.”

“Aren’t you going back to G City?”

Wen Ran looked at Qin Mu with a touch of surprise. As the words left her mouth, she remembered that they had already left MS Group, and Qin Mu’s home was here in the first place. Naturally, he did not need to return to G City.

Qin Mu’s gaze flickered a bit as he looked at Wen Ran. He sent her a light smile, and said in a gentle voice, “Not for the time being. I’ll come to give my gift when you hold your wedding.”

Wen Ran also smiled and replied with a touch of regret, “Didn’t Xiuchen tell you? We’re not planning to have a wedding ceremony anymore.”

Qin Mu turned to Mo Xiuchen with a puzzled look and asked, “Why aren’t you having a wedding ceremony anymore? Is it because it’s too troublesome?”

Mo Xiuchen gave a slight smile, glancing at Wen Ran beside him and said in a low voice, “It’s not that it’s troublesome.” He paused for a moment then simply explained, “We’re afraid that you’ll say we’re holding a wedding ceremony to profit from the cash gifts.”

Qin Mu’s mouth twitched.

On the other hand, Bai Xiaoxiao was amused and smiled as she looked at them, “Mo Xiuchen, are you afraid that others will see the beautiful Ranran in her wedding gown, right? You can hold your wedding ceremony without worry. I promise to just go there to eat and not give any excuses for people to criticize.”

“Xiaoxiao, you and I think the same, our minds are truly connected.”

Luo Haofeng responded with a grin.

“So this is the so-called ‘birds of a feather flock together’? Ah Feng, there’s no gain without a loss. When it’s time for your wedding, you’ll be running at a loss.”

Qin Mu responded with a teasing smile.

“He is him, I am me. Don’t link me with him. Wedding talks are far in the future.” Bai Xiaoxiao instantly clarified, she and Luo Haofeng had just started dating recently, marriage discussions were still very distant.

At present, she was more concerned about Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen. They had initially decided to have a reception, but now suddenly changed their minds. “Ranran, I was looking forward to being your bridesmaid. Now that you’re not having a wedding ceremony, my bridesmaid dreams are dashed.”

“Then you might as well become the bride directly.” Wen Ran calmly said: “The other day when I mentioned holding a wedding ceremony, it was just a moment of excitement. Later, I thought about it and felt there was no need.”

Seeing that Mo Xiuchen was always looking at Wen Ran with a smile, obviously expressing a respectful attitude towards her decision, Qin Mu did not ask for further explanation. “Wedding ceremonies are indeed troublesome and tiring. It’s good not to have one.”

After bidding farewell and getting in the car, Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran drove away, while Qin Mu stood by the roadside, watching the car become farther and farther until it merged into the night and was no longer visible. Yet, he still stood there.

A layer of faint desolation came over his pitch-black eyes. He pressed his thin lips together and withdrew his gaze from the night.

His heart suddenly felt incredibly empty and desolate.

If there were no particular reasons, he seemed to no longer have a reason to return to G City. After a moment of silence, he let out a bitter smile. What he shouldn’t dwell on was precisely what he couldn’t let go of. It truly felt like he was asking for trouble, tormenting himself.
