Chapter 675: Brief happiness together
Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict
âHa ha!â
Mo Xiuchenâs laughter earned him a rolling of eyes from Wen Ran. He immediately stopped laughing, pulling her into his arms, whispering in her ear, âRanran, youâre wronging me. I did not play outside, let alone get seduced.â
The warmth of his breath brushed against her ears, like an invisible hand stirring her heart, arousing an inexplicable flutter. Wen Ranâs face blushes again, and she pushes away his lips marauding her ear, âGo to bed.â
Mo Xiuchen chuckled a little, seeing she maintained an annoyed expression, he nodded, âAlright, Iâll rest awhile.â
That said, he really closed his eyes, but his large hand still held her shoulder tight, never letting go.
Wen Ran didnât struggle, allowing him to hold her like that, tilting her face slightly, and looking at him quietly.
At the front, Qing Yang drove attentively, while Qing Feng kept looking out of the window, occasionally catching glimpses of the two in the backseat through the rear-view mirror. Throughout, Wen Ran maintained the same sitting posture.
Her gaze never moved from Mo Xiuchen, as if she wanted to make up for all the longing of these past days. Although it hurt her to see his face becoming increasingly sharp and thin, she still wanted to keep looking.
Mo Xiuchen didnât fall asleep; he was just resting his eyes. Naturally, he could feel Wen Ranâs gaze lingering on him, full of sympathy and patience, reflecting the same compassion she showed when she heard about his childhood tribulations.
Faced with her pitiful eyes, he too felt a turmoil that was hard to settle down.
As they neared their home, Mo Xiuchen opened his eyes and met Wen Ranâs gaze. At this sight, his heart softened, and his lip curled into a slight smile when he heard her asking, âCanât sleep?â
âWith you looking at me like that, how could I dare to?â
Mo Xiuchen held her hands in his, the dim light in the cabin reflected in his dark deep eyes that resembled an ancient well, containing a deadly allure.
The van entered their villa, Little Liu was already waiting there. As soon as the car stopped, he opened the car door for Mo Xiuchen, cheering, âYoung Master!â
Once they got off the vehicle, Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran held hands and walked into the living room. Nanny Zhang was preparing dinner in the kitchen. They walked upstairs to the master room together, and Wen Ran extricated her hand from Mo Xiuchenâs, whispering, âXiuchen, Iâll prepare a bath for you. After showering, you can go downstairs for dinner.â
With her hand slipped out of his, Mo Xiuchen furrowed his eyebrows and instinctively stretched out his hand to hold Wen Ranâs, calling, âRanran!â
Wen Ranâs heartbeat paused; raising her eyes, she asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Mo Xiuchen gazed at her profoundly without uttering a word.
Time stood still for a moment, and the only sound left in the room was their breathing.
In the intersecting glances, their faces deeply imprinted in each otherâs heart, and the scent of his nose lingered. Mo Xiuchen couldnât help but lean down and kiss her.
After an unknown length of time, Mo Xiuchen finally released Wen Ran, whispering, âRanran, go find some clothes for me, Iâll prepare the bath by myself.â
âOkay!â
Wen Ran nodded with a smile. Her eyes filled with tenderness and love.
After finishing his words, Mo Xiuchen quickly walked into the bathroom and closed the door.
Wen Ran stood in the middle of the room, watching his figure disappear behind the bathroom door. She gently pressed her lips together, his lingering aura still on them.
She found a set of home clothes for Mo Xiuchen and knocked on the bathroom door. Inside, Mo Xiuchenâs voice came out a bit hoarse, âRanran, wait for a bit.â
Caught off guard, she almost dropped the clothes.
Her gaze was nailed to the door, as if she wanted to see through it to find out whether he was showering or bearing the pain inside.
His voice was as low and hoarse, full of hidden agony, like the one she heard that day at the restaurant in D Country through Qin Muâs phone, full of suppressed pain and discomfort.
âAlright!â
She replied in a low voice, waiting quietly outside the door.
Only the sound of pouring water could be heard from inside, while Wen Ranâs heart was beating erratically; every minute felt like torture.
About ten minutes later, the bathroom door opened a crack. The moment the misty steam gushed out, Mo Xiuchenâs handsome face finally appeared in Wen Ranâs sight.
âRanran, pass me the clothes.â
Even though the bathroom was steamy hot and Mo Xiuchen had been bathing for a while, his face was still a heartbreaking pale. Wen Ranâs eyes fall on his face, quickly moved away, passed the clothes through the crack, and the door was immediately closed.
In the bathroom, Mo Xiuchen was taking his time to put on his clothes.
Although the wave of headache had passed, he was exhausted after the pain, not really having the strength to put on clothes.
The mirror in the bathroom was fogged up, he couldnât see his own reflection clearly, and could only hope that his pallor was obscured by the steam and not too alarming.
A few minutes went by before he came out of the bathroom. The room was deserted, no sight of Wen Ran.
Mo Xiuchen paused slightly, a glint of surprise flashed across his deep eyes, called out twice, âRanran, Ranran,â but received no response.
Walking to the vanity, he glimpsed his reflection. His face was extremely pale, and visible fatigue lined his handsome features. He lightly rubbed his forehead, pressing his thin lips together.
âXiuchen, dinnerâs ready.â
Wen Ranâs voice echoed from the entrance, brimming with laughter. In mid-sentence, she briskly walked over to him.
Mo Xiuchen turned around, Wen Ran immediately wrapped her arms around his waist, laying her head against his chest, inhaling the fresh scent of his shower, ecstatically exclaimed, âDarling, you smell so nice!â
Mo Xiuchen chuckled, âRanran, where did you go just now?â
âI went downstairs to check if Nanny Zhang had prepared dinner. See, Iâve come back again, havenât I?â
Wen Ran didnât lift her head, her voice soft and sweet emanated from his chest, just like a spring breeze caressing his ears, or a feather gently brushing his heart. A softness enveloped Mo Xiuchenâs heart, he bent his head to kiss her forehead, a gentle voice murmuring, âIf you hadnât come back, I wouldâve gone downstairs looking for you.â
