When Mo Xiuchen’s cell phone rang, he was already in a drug-induced deep sleep. Gu Kai, who was on the bed next to him, picked up the call. Upon seeing the caller ID, his brow furrowed slightly.

He walked over to the window and pressed the accept button, “Hello, Qing Feng, what’s the matter?”

“Doctor Gu, where’s Young Master Mo?”

Noticing a hint of urgency and suppressed pain in Qing Feng’s voice, Gu Kai paused, “Mo Xiuchen is asleep. Is something wrong?”

“Miss Wen has been kidnapped.”

The coolness of Qing Feng’s words carried a mix of self-reproach and guilt for not being able to protect Wen Ran. Gu Kai’s face instantly turned pale. He glanced at Mo Xiuchen, who was still sleeping on the hospital bed, before briskly leaving the room with his cell phone in his hand. He walked several steps before asking attentively, “What happened exactly? Isn’t it past three in the morning in China? Isn’t Ranran supposed to be at the countryside villa?”

“Two hours ago, Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory caught fire. Miss Wen received a call and requested to return to G City immediately. I drove her back, but didn’t expect that we would be ambushed halfway…”

As Gu Kai listened to Qing Feng’s explanation on the other side of the phone call, his handsome face continuously shifted between shades of pale and blue. His grip on the phone tightened even more.

“I understand. Mo Xiuchen is currently receiving treatment and will undergo surgery in a few days. Don’t tell him about this, and stop calling him. Contact Qin Mu in A City instead.”

Gu Kai contemplated for a moment before issuing his instructions word by word.

“Alright, I’ll call Young Master Qin right now.”

“Where are you right now?”

Gu Kai was about to hang up when he thought of another question. Qing Feng replied despondently, “I’m on the high-speed highway. They kidnapped Miss Wen and I got injured.”

“Can you make it back to G City on your own? If you can’t, let someone come and pick you up, or get your wound treated first. As for Ah Mu, I’ll make the call.”

The fact that Wen Ran was kidnapped suggested that Qing Feng may not have sustained light injuries. Given his military background and his responsibility to ensure Wen Ran’s safety, there wouldn’t be a chance for the kidnappers to take Wen Ran away if he had been capable of handling the situation.

“I’ve already made the call, someone will come pick me up. Doctor Gu, you should quickly call Young Master Qin. Rescuing Miss Wen is the priority.”

If anything were to happen to Miss Wen, Qing Feng felt that the only way to atone for his negligence would be through death.

Gu Kai didn’t say much. His heart full of worry for Ranran, he hung up the call and immediately dialed Qin Mu’s number.

At this ungodly hour, if it weren’t for an emergency, he wouldn’t want to disturb anyone’s good night’s sleep. After the third ring, Qin Mu picked up, his voice husky from sleep, “Hello, Mo Xiuchen.”

Hearing this, Gu Kai paused before realizing that he was using Mo Xiuchen’s cell phone.

“Ah Mu, it’s me.”

Gu Kai spoke in a deep voice. Hearing his voice, Qin Mu instantly sobered up, “Ah Kai? Why are you calling so late? Has something happened to Mo Xiuchen?”

“No, it’s not Mo Xiuchen. It’s Ranran. I just received a call from Qing Feng, saying that during the trip back to downtown G City, they were ambushed on the highway and Ranran was kidnapped.”

“What?”

Gu Kai heard a loud noise over the phone, likely because Qin Mu had gotten up too suddenly and knocked his arm against the bedside. Gu Kai briefly relayed the contents of his call with Qing Feng to Qin Mu.

At the end, he added his own understanding, “Ah Mu, this incident is likely related to Qin Sen and Liao Dongxing. Everyone knows that Ranran is Mo Xiuchen’s Achilles heel. As long as they have Ranran, not to mention going against Mo Xiuchen, they would even make him walk into his death without resistance.”

Gu Kai understood Qin Mu’s concerns. Mo Xiuchen would eventually receive Liao Dongxing’s call. Once he received the call, he would know that Wen Ran was in danger and would likely disregard his own health and rush back to China.

Gu Kai frowned, this was indeed a problem. He couldn’t always have Mo Xiuchen’s phone with him. The only solution was… Before he could finish his sentence, Qin Mu’s voice sounded again, “Why not call Liao Dongxing first? He’s after those pieces of evidence. If Wen Ran is with them, there’s no need for him to hide it.”

“But how can Mo Xiuchen negotiate a deal from here?”

“There’s no need to worry about that. Someone can act as Mo Xiuchen. We have no other choice. We can’t let Mo Xiuchen find out about Ranran’s disappearance, Ah Kai, stay close to Mo Xiuchen. Leave the rescue to me.”

Qin Mu pressed his lips together tightly, his voice holding a heavy promise.

That despicable man Liao Dongxing dared to kidnap Wen Ran to threaten Mo Xiuchen, it was just detestable.

“Ah Mu, not many people should know that Ranran was at the countryside villa. Take a look at who could have leaked this. Also, the fire at Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory was not an accident but a plot to lure Ranran back to G City.”

Gu Kai rubbed his forehead. One thing after another kept happening. They were just about to track down Fu Jingyi, but complications arose instead.
