Dalia’s POV

Lyla and Nathan were k*ssing.

I could not keep my surprise in and gasped loudly gaining their attention. They turned their attention to me and I felt like I was intruding on their moment so I hurriedly went back the way I came in.

“Lola“, Lyla shouted after me and I froze in place. I slowly turned around to look at her and saw her whispering harshly to Nathan who kept pouting at her.

Nathan is pouting? What a sight to see on the big bad Beta.

I giggled at the sight of Nathan pouting and acting like a kid which made them turn their attention to me. Lola glared at me and Nathan looked embarrassed so I looked away shyly.

Nathan eventually left, saying a greeting to me on his way out. “Good morning, Lola“, he said to me lightly. Someone is in a happy mood, I see.

“Good morning, Nathan“, I said softly, bowing to him as he left. He had barely gone far when Lyla pulled me by my arms and dragged me towards her room.

“Long time no see, stranger“, she said immediately we entered her room. She glared at me with her hands on her hips and I almost laughed because I knew she wasn’t even angry.

“Back at you, stranger. You knew I had no means of contacting you, you should have contacted me first“, I said to her, mirroring her pose and she looked genuinely shocked.

“Who are you and what have you done with Lola?” She asked in shock and I laughed, I actually laughed making her widen her eyes.

Yeah, I get it. It’s my first laugh since Mom and Dad passed.

“Oh my goddess“, she laughed as she rushed towards me to pull me into a hug. “I love this new you, Lola. This is so

amazing“, she screamed in a high pitched voice and I had to block my ear a bit.

“Did you do something with your eyebrows?” She suddenly asked and I shook my head in negative. “Nope, I don’t even know what to do with them“, I replied her, confused.

“They look a shade lighter“, she pulled me towards her vanity mirror and made me face it, “see?” And she was right. While it wasn’t really noticeable, my brows were not completely black either.

It must be one of the changes I’ve been noticing recently, I made a mental note to ask Jasmine if she had seen any recent changes too. I contemplated telling Lyla about the changes I’ve been seeing recently and what happened with Adrian but decided against it. There were pressing matters to attend to.

“So you and Nathan, huh?” I turned to face her and she was already blushing. “What’s going on between you two,l thought you hated his guts?” I asked and she looked everywhere but at me and that was when it clicked.

” I screamed and she nodded at me before giggling. “Yeah, he’s my mate Lola. You can stop shouting now“, she laughed and I struggled to pick my jaw from the ground.

“We were together day before yesterday and you did not tell me anything about it being your birthday, I’d have gotten you. a gift.“, I pouted.

“This is more than enough gift, Lola. It’s good to see you feeling comfortable around me“, she hugged me and I stiffened a bit before hugging her back. I still wasn’t used to

touch.

“Sooooooo, we’re getting dolled up and dressed up tonight“, I was about to object when she held up her index finger to silence me, “you’re not objecting, it’s a good way to incorporate you into the pack and have you meet more people“.

“But what if I don’t get accepted by people? What if they call me a freak because of my hair and glowing eyes? I don’t think I want to meet new people, Lyla. You’re enough for me“, I said, trying to butter her up but she wasn’t having any of it.

“Go on, try it on“, she urged. I took the fabric into my hands. and it felt heavenly. It was a silk two piece clothes. The too was a corset with black net covering the n*eck and hands. The skirt was a ruffled floor length skirt with a snatched waist that fits perfectly with the end of the corset top and a slit that reached mid–thigh. I was reluctant to wear it because I did not want to showcase too much but Lyla convinced me to wear it.

Lyla gasped when I emerged from the bathroom and I was slightly embarrassed. I walked towards the floor length mirror in her room and gasped when I saw my reflection. The clothes were a perfect fit and unless I decided to showcase my legs, they were not visible and my scars were concealed.

I smiled happily at my reflection and looked to see Lyla still opening and closing her mouth like a fish out of water.

“Oh my goddess, you look like a goddess, Lola“, she gushed over me and I became red from embarrassment. “Yup, you’re definitely wearing that and making a statement“, she clapped happily.

The gathering was supposed to start by 7 so we started getting ready once it was 4 in the evening. Lyla did my makeup and left my hair the way it was.

She was clad in a green floor length gown with cow–n*eck showing off her milky skin. She looked breath–taking and amazing. We walked out together hand–in hand, my nerves getting the best of me.

The pack house was filled to the brim and swarming with people. I felt nervous but Lyla squeezed my hand to assure me that she was with me every step of the way.
