Fight for Love
My Sweet Seduction
AS TIME CHANGED, my chest tightened even more. I was not on myself while meeting with another client. My mind was occupying by Samuel Saavedra. I tried to breathe calmly, but every time I looked up at the clock, my panic and anxiety attack frightened me.
My meeting with Mr. Talameda already ended, but I am still here in my swivel chair and facing the large glass wall of my office.
From here, I can see the lofty hotel of Saavedra. Even from a distance, it can increase the height and size due to the few floors.
I put air in my chest and then pounded the diamond ring on my shovel ring. I trust him. I trust Lawrence and our relationship, and no matter what happens, I will continue to fight for my love for him.
I did not even inform Lawrence of our meeting. Indeed nothing terrible would happen if Samuel and I just talked.
My heart beats louder than it should ever since my heels stepped on their hotel. I tightened my grip on my shoulder bag and forced myself to relax.
âAre you Miss Margaux Collins?â A woman greeted me with a sweet smile.
âYes!â I sparingly answer. Perhaps she is Samuelâs secretary.
She guided me into a private room. âWould you like coffee or tea, Maâam?â she asked politely.
âNo, Iâm fine! Thank you!â I simply said.
âOh, sure! Will you please wait for a while? Mr. Saavedra will be out in any minute!â she smiled broadly at me before she left.
I wrapped my palms around my lap. I also took a few deep breaths and calmed my heart.
I was startled in the seat when the big leaf opened, and it spat out the image of the strong and aristocratic Saavedra. I quickly stood up to greet him, but he also promptly motioned for me to sit down again.
âI thought you would not accept my invitation,â he said as he slowly seated in his swivel chair.
âI donât mix emotion when it comes to work. I presume you have an interesting proposal to discuss with me at this very moment, am I right, Mr. Saavedra?â I said straightforwardly. I also lifted my chin and looked him in the eye.
Samuel leaned back in his seat with his lips twitched a bit.
âI will not take second thoughts anymore. I want you to leave my son Lawrence,â he said with complete authority.
His words cut through my heart. I quickly felt the ring on my finger and did not show hurt at what he said.
âYou know Lawrence; heâs young, wild, and lively. Letâs just say that he is not that serious when it comes to a relationship. Of course, he has many more women to meet than you.â
I swallowed. His words were like a thin knife that sat right through my heart. I canât imagine it all coming out of Lawrenceâs father.
âGiven that you have a child, I can provide his needs. I can also give him a better life and the privilege to be called Saavedra,â he said with a laced sarcasm.
Did I finally believe what he said? I was about to open my mouth to speak but it quickly followed what was said.
âThat son of mine is stubborn, so I talked to you about it. Maybe we understand each other, Miss Collins?â he said as he curled up his lips upward.
I fall my lashes down. I do not know how I should feel about what he said. How can he be so sure that I will follow everything he said just because he wanted to? Iâm not that kind of person. Iâm not easily manipulated.
âElliesse is the one I want my son to marry. Sheâs the example of a successful woman. She doesnât depend on what the family has. She can stand on her own feet and make her own name in her own way. That is what I want for my son.â
Again, a winning smile appeared on his face like a hot summer. âI hope we understand, hija?â
There I met his stares. I make sure I wear my blazing eyes with torches and shot him a disgusted glance.
âIâm sorry, Mr. Saavedra, but I donât think you are in the right position to give me an order. Excuse me too, I am not chasing your son for money, and also, I can provide for the needs of my son. I also do not claim the name you can give to my son. I love Lawrence, and nothing can stop my love for him, even you.â Tears pooled at the corner of my eyes, but I firmly restrained it.
He sat up straight before a foreign smile flashed on me. âIn that case, we have nothing more to talk about,â he said with a cold tone.
âI will repeat. I love your son, and no one can tell me not to love him,â I said bravely.
I stood up and exited the room without looking back because I donât want to hear what he had to say. I didnât spend any more time, so I rushed out of the hotel and into my car.
Only then did the tears that I had been holding back drip. My heart twisted. I was hurting for Lawrence.
How could his father do this nasty thing to his son? Why is it so difficult for his father to give us the blessing? Am I not good enough? Isnât it enough that I love his son so much that he trusts me and the love I can give to him? I have my own dreams, not just as Elliesse. But I can prove to him that Iâm not just a Collinâs daughter.
Iâm Margaux Collins!
I went straight to my office because I knew Lawrence was waiting for me to return. Heâll make sure he can pick me up every day even though his office schedule is tight.
As expected, he is already inside. Heâs always looking hot and gorgeous wearing his office attire. His appeal was even stronger when he took off his coat, and the only thing left now is his blue long sleeve polo.
âHey, howâs the meeting?â
He approached me to give me a light kiss on the lips.
âIt was good!â I said energetically.
I donât want him to think that something is bothering me, and I donât want him to know that I talked to his dad earlier.
âAre you sure?â he asked softly.
To my great surprise, he bent down to look at my face. He looked at me with steeply arched brows.
I averted my gaze and looked out the wide window. âOf course, I do.â
But unexpectedly, he moved closer, and his gaze was locked on me. âIs there something I need to know? You looked so different today. Did something bad happen, huh?â
I swallowed and forced the glitter back into my eyes. âIâm okay! Donât worry about me. So letâs go?â
I pulled his hand to avoid it, but he just pulled me back, and he quickly locked me in his big arms.
I could do nothing but look at him. My heart was thumping hard against my chest. I could feel the electricity building between us.
Lawrenceâs gaze dipped to my lips. He then licked his lower lip. His forehead was also furrowed, and his eyes were intense.
âI donât want you to keep a secret from me,â he seriously said.
âI-I just had a problem with a client. She backed out in our project. But I found a way,â I said as I fixed my gaze on the floor.
He stared at me for a few more minutes before finally nodding.
âLetâs have some dinner together.â
I did not protest anymore when he asked me to leave my office.
