Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO By Woody Rain Chapter 15
Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 15 What He Had Lost Was His Heart âThere are some clues now,â Kerwin said mindlessly.
âThatâs nice,â Nick then finally laughed, âIâve been wondering, you know, how exactly would you repay her? I thought you would marry yourself to her or something, but I didnât know youâve sold yourself already.â
Kerwin simply ignored Nickâs cheeky banter.
Nick knew he had made a fool of himself and looked very awkward, but when his eyes fell on the wheelchair under Kerwin, they still couldnât help but flicker. âWell⦠Kerwin, did you tell Betty about your legs?â
Kerwinâs attention was already on the reports that had just been submitted by the finance department, but his hand on the mouse paused when he heard this question.
âNo,â he answered in a low voice a moment later.
âKerwin, Iâm not trying to lecture you but,â Nick frowned slightly. âWhatever the purpose of your marriage with Betty is, sheâs your wife now. Are you planning to keep her in the dark forever?
Perhapsâ¦â
Nick took a pause, before he summoned his courage and continued, âMaybe you should at least try and see if you can accept this new wife. You canât just live in the shadow of your past for the rest of your life, right?â
He knew pretty well about Kerwin, who had always said his marriage to Betty was nothing but a way of handling the pressure from his old man at home. However, if the woman had not been somewhat attracted to him, he would never have accepted the marriage and lived under the same roof with her.
Kerwin kept silent and didnât answer Nickâs question before he finished reading the reports and said the following words:
âOnce youâve seen the best, youâre blind to the rest.â
That caught Nick off guard.
He looked at Kerwinâs indifferent face, and a trace of pity flashed in his eyes.
The car accident ten years ago had been a nightmare for all of them.
Everyone thought that what Kerwin had lost in that car accident was his legs.
But in fact, they were all wrong.
In that one car accident, what Kerwin had lost were not his legs, but his heartâ¦

When Betty came home from work, she saw James and Maria walking into the living room with their suitcases.
âMaria, James, what are you guys doing?â
âMrs. Martin, our son is getting married. We are going to his wedding,â said James kindly.
âOh, congratulations to you guys,â said Betty, âHow long will you be away?â
âItâs in Chicago, and there will only be a party after the wedding. Weâll be back tomorrow nightâ Maria smiled gently, but when her eyes fell on Kerwin, there was a little concern in them. âItâs just that, if thereâs no one home, there will be nobody to prepare Mr. Martinâs breakfast for him.â
Betty felt a little awkward.
The Martins arenât rich for nothing. Itâs just breakfast and they have someone specially invited to prepare it!
âThatâs okay,â Kerwin spoke up, interrupting Bettyâs thoughts. âYou know how to cook, right, Betty?â
âWhat?â Betty didnât expect that. She looked up and met Kerwinâs dark, deep eyes. âI⦠I do.â
No sooner had Betty managed an answer than she suddenly remembered how Lilian had served the spectacular breakfast in her grand outfit this morning, so she couldnât help but add, âA little bitâ¦â
In Kerwinâs eyes, a barely noticeable smile flashed in the slightest moment.
âA little is enough,â said he in a low voice.
The next day, early in the morning.
Betty got up an hour earlier and finally made something like a decent breakfast.
She left the kitchen and was going to get Kerwin downstairs when she saw him coming out of the elevator âDo you happen to have any batteries?â
Belty was confused for one second before she recognized what was in Kerwinâs hands. It was an electric razor âIt needs button batteries,â Betty took it and checked. âDonât you have any at home?â
âIâm afraid not.â
