Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 37 The Identical Ring Betty finally realized that Jeffrey did not know that she and Kerwin were married. He seemed to think that she had an affair with Kerwin, so he misunderstood that Kerwin was the rich guy she had landed.
Suddenly, Betty was more disappointed in Jeffrey.
Jeffrey, what kind of woman am I in your eyes? As long as a rich man is close to me, you will think of me in this way.
In fact, Betty could understand why Jeffrey thought so. In his mind, she was like a prostitute who could sell her body for money. He wouldnât believe that she was Kerwinâs wife.
âBettyâ¦â Jeffrey was furious. âAnswer my question!â he ordered.
Betty took a moment to react to what he was saying.
She slowly raised her eyes to look at him. âWhatever you think of me, I donât care,â said she calmly.
Then she broke away from Jeffreyâs hand and turned away.
The moment she turned around, Betty realized something.
Her first love, the only person she had ever loved with all her heart and soul, was no longer the person he used to be. As early as two years ago, he was no longer the person she loved.
For the next two days, Betty forced herself to focus on her work, so she was not in the mood to think about the trouble that Kerwin and Jeffrey had caused her.
Kerwin never came home. He neither texted her nor called her. Betty somehow felt lonely when she returned to the empty house each day.
It was a scary thing to adapt to being alone. In less than a month, she was already uncomfortable without Kerwin in her life.
One morning, as soon as Betty entered the office, she saw several of her female colleagues gathering in front of the computer.
âYouâre all early this morning,â she walked over and said casually.
In the past, everyone ate breakfast in the water cooler at this time.
âYeah!â Sarah cupped her face, staring at the computer screen. âThere is a super cute guy. Itâs such a delightful thing to watch him.â
âA super cute guy?â
âMr. Martin, the president of Tylman Group. We have interviewed him before. He is attending the award ceremony in Millland today. Itâs live right now!â
Betty was stunned. They gathered early in the morning to watch her husband, who she didnât know where he went.
Betty was also curious, so she went over.
âWhat award ceremony?â
âProminent Youths. It also has a well-known name, namely the richest bachelor of the year.â Sarah teased.
âBut Mr. Martin is married,â she added.
Betty fixed her eyes on the computer screen.
Kerwin slowly pushed his wheelchair onto the lavish stage amidst loud applause. His sharp suit outlined his long figure. Although he was in a wheelchair, people could feel the powerful aura from the way he acted.
âCongratulations, Mr. Martin,â said the host, who was blond and blue-eyed, handed him the crystal trophy excitedly.
âThank you,â Kerwin took it and said in a low voice. âItâs my great honor to have this award.â
When Kerwin took the trophy, the hostâs eyes fell on his fingers. She immediately exclaimed in a very exaggerated way, âOh my God, Mr. Martin, is this your wedding ring?â
The camera immediately gave Kerwinâs finger a close-up, and the diamond ring that Betty bought for him immediately appeared on the screen in a magnified form.
That gave Betty a start. She quietly hid her hand with the identical ring behind her back.
The host was excited. âMr. Martin, so youâre already married. Many girls will be heartbroken because of this.â
âMr. Martin, your ring doesnât look that special,â said the host in a jokingly tone.
Soon what the host said drew a laugh from the audience.
Bettyâs cheeks burned slightly. She had already said that this ring did not fit his status, but Kerwin still wore it on his hand.
Kerwin acted calmly in response to everyoneâs surprise and laughter. He glanced at his ring, then smiled lightly. âMy wife chose this for me. She has always been frugal.â
His simple words gave people a sense of how much he adored his wife. The people in the room instantly fell silent Betty, sitting in front of the computer screen, instantly felt her heart skip a beat.
Although she kept telling herself that what Kerwin said was just a pleasantry, her heart was touched slightly.
Even if what Kerwin did was just a formality, he did wear the ring all the time and didnât care that the ring would embarrass him.
It was as if many people in the world thought she and he were not a good match, but he also recognized her as his wife.
Perhaps Jeffrey was too mean to Betty, so when Kerwin affirmed her in such a way, Betty felt relieved more or less.
âMr. Martin, it seems that you really love your wife,â said the host with envy at the award ceremony Kerwin, an extraordinary man, wore such a ring just because of his wifeâs âfrugalityâ. This way of displaying affection was even more enviable than buying his wife a diamond ring as big as a pigeon egg Kerwin just smiled at the hostâs remark.
The award ceremony was over soon, but Bettyâs colleagues were still immersed in admiration for Kerwin.
âMrs. Martin must be very happy. Many rich men donât admit theyâre married, but her husband is willing to wear such a cheap wedding ring,â said a female colleague.
âOh, come on,â a male colleague retorted. âMaybe heâs too stingy to buy the expensive one. Heâs just using his wife as an excuse to cover this up.â
âKerwin is so rich that he can afford to buy a mine. How could he not afford to buy a diamond ring?â
Sarah retorted. âBut Mr. Martinâs ring looks a little familiar.â
âIâve seen this ring somewhere,â said another woman immediately.
Betty was about to walk away, but Sarah immediately said, âOh, I remember. Isnât Mr. Martinâs ring the same as Bettyâs?â
Things turned out as Betty had worried most. She had to stand still and retract her foot that had taken a step away.
By this time, her colleagues were eager to come over and grab Bettyâs hand, and then exclaimed in surprise.
âThey look the same. Theyâre a pair?â
âWhatâs going on? Betty, how come you have the same wedding ring as Kerwinâs?â
âAlas, have to admit it now. nfae, am ke Betty was a little nervous when she faced the group of women who liked to gossip about others. âAlas, I have to admit it now. In fact, I am Kerwinâs wife, so we both have the identical ring,â said she calmly.
