Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 56 You Can Do Something Else to Repay Peter was stunned silent at Kerwinâs words.
Betty was also startled and looked at Kerwin in disbelief. âWhat did you say?â
âYou married me for permanent residency?â Kerwin said slowly. âYou get what you want. Even if you divorce me, you still have residency.â
Bettyâs face was as white as sheet.
Kerwin knew my purpose in getting married to him?
It was understandable. He knew my momâs situation, so it was not surprising that he had considered that.
Betty met Kerwinâs gaze, bit her bottom lip, and said in an undertone, âI know you want something from this marriage. If you get what you want, will you divorce me?â
Kerwin didnât expect Betty would turn the question back to him. He thought for a moment.
Betty was not a fool. Of course, he knew Kerwin had his reasons to marry her.
Kerwin looked serious and answered, âNo.â
Betty was stunned when she heard this brief answer.
Seeing Bettyâs astonished look, Kerwin added, âYouâre my wife forever.â
Youâre my wife forever.
Kerwinâs words surprised Betty. She looked at Kerwin with her mouth open.
âSo,â Kerwin said in a low voice, tinged with determination. âBetty, never think of leaving me.â
Bettyâs heart skipped a beat.
She had butterflies in her stomach.
She looked away to avoid eye contact. âDonât worry. As long as you donât want a divorce, I wonât cuckold you or file for a divorce.â
Bettyâs voice was low, but Kerwin heard her. Seeing Bettyâs flushed face, he felt less angry.
Let it be.
He knew very well why she married him.
It didnât matter to him that she had no feelings for him for the time being.
They had been married and living together. He was confident that he could win her heart sooner or later.
When they arrived home, it was dusk. Robert and Lillian werenât there.
Betty always felt that Kerwin disliked being taken care of by them, though he was polite to them. She didnât know if it was her illusion.
âAre you hungry?â Betty took off her jacket, rolled up her sleeve, and walked into the kitchen. âLet me cook for you.â
She was stunned when she opened the fridge.
The spaghetti she cooked yesterday was covered with plastic wrap and placed inside.
âAre you hungry?â Kerwin rose from the wheelchair and walked behind her.
âNo.â Betty came to her senses. âLet me cook some pasta for you.â
With that, she reached out to take the pasta, but Kerwin gripped her wrist. âNo need. I can eat spaghetti.â
With that, he took out the spaghetti from the fridge and walked to the microwave.
Betty walked to him. âYou canât. Itâs leftover.â
Kerwin was so picky about food, so Betty didnât bear to see him eat leftovers.
Then she reached out to take away the plate of spaghetti from Kerwinâs hand. However, Kerwin raised his hand suddenly and raised his eyebrows. âWhy canât l? I had it last night.â
Kerwin was much taller than Betty. When he raised the plate so high, it was totally out of Kerwinâs reach.
It occurred to her that they left too anxiously to eat two plates of spaghetti she cooked yesterday.
It looked like Kerwin ate one plate of it and put the other one into the fridge when he came home last night.
Betty felt very ashamed. She tiptoed to reach Kerwinâs hand. âNo one cooked for you last night. But Iâm with you now. Let me make fresh dishes for you.â
Watching Betty anxiously hold her hands up, Kerwin pursued his lips. But his hand was still upraised.
He bent slightly to look closely at Betty who raised her head.
Seeing the enlarged handsome face, Betty was taken by surprise. She lost balance and stumbled.
Luckily, Kerwin acted fast and held her waist so that she wouldnât fall to the ground.
âBe careful,â Kerwin said in a low voice. âNo need to cook today. I like the spaghetti you made very much.â
It was a simple sentence. Somehow, Betty couldnât help but blush when she heard Kerwin say that with a low and attractive voice.
âIf you want to eat spaghetti, I can cook for you.â
For fear that Kerwin found out how nervous she was, she hung her head low. âItâs bad for your health to eat leftovers.â
âIt wonât. I only have it once in a while.â Kerwin released his grip on Bettyâs waist and put the spaghetti into the microwave. âI donât want to waste the food you cook.â
Betty failed to persuade Kerwin and could only let him heat the spaghetti and eat it.
Kerwin had good table manners. Even if it was just a plate of spaghetti, he was eating it elegantly, as if he was enjoying the food provided by three-star Michelin restaurants.
âWellâ¦â When Kerwin was eating, Betty sat opposite him, twisting her hands. After thinking twice, she opened her mouth, âYou paid my momâs medical bills. Today I asked the doctor. He told me it was 60,000 dollars. Iâll try to return it to you.â
Kerwin who focused on eating looked terrible when he heard Betty.
âBetty,â he swallowed the spaghetti in his mouth and said in an undertone. âDid you forget what you promised me yesterday?â
.
âYesterday?â It took Betty moments to realize what he was talking about. âIâll ask you for help if Iâm in need?â
âYes.â Kerwin raised his eyes and looked into Bettyâs eyes. âI thought you would count on me.â
Kerwinâs gaze was very sharp as if it could see through her. Betty looked away with an embarrassed look. âItâs not like that. I⦠I just donât want to owe others anything.â
When she said that, Betty bit her lower lip stubbornly.
Though she considered Kerwin as her friend, she couldnât bear to owe him anything.
Looking at Bettyâs stubborn look, Kerwin choked back words he wanted to say.
âIf you want to do something in returnâ¦â Kerwin dropped his eyes to the plate of spaghetti and an idea struck him. âNo need to return the money. You know, I donât lack money. You could do something else to offset it.â
âSomething else?â Betty looked at Kerwin right away. She didnât know what she could do for him since he didnât lack anything.
