Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO By Woody Rain Chapter 58
Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO
Chapter 58 Bettyâs Husband Betty was about to retort, but she didnât do that when she saw a lot of people in the office peeping at her with doubts and disdain in their eyes.
Betty suddenly felt as if a knife had cut her heart.
She couldnât be more familiar with such gazes. Two years ago, her classmates and teachers looked at her the same way after they knew she got raped.
same Betty bit her bottom lip, sat down without saying anything, and sorted out the files quickly. Then, in front of everyone, she walked to Jeffreyâs office and knocked on the door.
âCome in.â
Jeffreyâs exhausted voice sounded. Betty pushed the door and went in.
Jeffrey froze for a moment when he raised his head and saw her. Betty put the files on the table quickly. âMr. Martin, here are the files. If thereâs nothing else, Iâll leave.â
With that, she turned around to leave. Jeffreyâs voice sounded before she went to the door.
âBetty, stop.â
Betty came to a stop reluctantly. She didnât turn her head but said coldly, âMr. Martin, what can I do?â
âWhat kind of attitude is that?â Jeffreyâs voice also turned cold. He rose from his chair and walked in front of her. âAre you hiding from me?â
âYes,â Betty admitted without hesitation.
Getting such an answer, Jeffrey flared up.
However, when he saw Bettyâs pale face, his voice turned soft. âBetty, how is it going with your mom?â
Though Jeffrey disliked Sherry, who was a mistress, he showed his concern for her, since she was Bettyâs mom and he met her several times when he was in love with Betty.
As she didnât expect Jeffrey would ask her about this, Bettyâs eyes flickered but she soon answered, âSheâs fine. Thanks for your concern.â
Jeffrey looked at Bettyâs determined look and hesitated to say, âI heard you needed money to pay medical bills. I sent you a text. Did youâ¦?â
âMr. Martin,â Betty interrupted him. âIf thereâs nothing I can help, I am leaving.â
Without waiting for Jeffreyâs reply, she walked out of the office.
She breathed a sigh of relief after she walked into the corridor.
She had no idea what was wrong with Jeffrey. He didnât humiliate her as usual but asked her about her mother.
However, she realized that she would feel uncomfortable whether Jeffrey insulted or showed concern for her.
In her mind, Jeffrey, who she once deeply loved, should end up being a stranger to her.
Thinking of this, she let out a bitter laugh and went to Sarah and asked her to have lunch together.
In the office, after Jeffrey saw Bettyâs figure diminish, he stood still there.
He was confused about his attitude towards Betty.
He should hate Betty as she was a gold-digger and cheated on him. However, he felt guilty and sorry for her after he knew the reason she wanted to get paid in advance.
He had been with Betty for a very long time, so he knew Sherry was a very important person to Betty.
Somehow, he sent a message to Betty and asked if she needed him to lend her money.
But Betty didnât reply to him.
Did she have other ways to raise money, or did she ask her sugar daddies for money?
Jeffrey was almost driven crazy. As long as he thought about Betty, the scene where Betty had sex with other men would pop up into his mind, and he would get furious.
He felt tightness in his chest and loosened the tie in annoyance. He went back to his desk and made a phone call, âHello, I need you to check what hospital Sherry White is in.â
The man who Jeffrey asked for help was very effective, and he called Jeffrey back in the afternoon.
Half an hour later, according to the address offered by the man, Jeffrey went to the ward door of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, with a bouquet of lilies in his arms.
Looking at the private ward, Jeffrey had mixed feelings.
It was very hard for ordinary people to apply for a private ward. He didnât think Betty could get a private room for her mom.
He guessed one of her supporters helped her.
Damn.
Jeffrey tried to gather his thoughts, knocking on the door, and then he heard a weak female voice coming from inside. âCome in.â
Jeffrey pushed open the door and got stunned when he saw the emaciated woman on the bed. âMrs.
White.â
In his memories, Sherry was gorgeous. Back then, he disdainfully believed it was no surprise that such a gorgeous woman became the mistress.
However, at that moment, he couldnât recognize her at all.
âJeffrey?â Sherry was surprised when she saw Jeffrey but soon she cracked a smile. âItâs been a long time. You look better now. Sit down please.â
Jeffrey sat down and had a small talk with Sherry. Sherry couldnât help but talk about the past since she felt it was a shame that Jeffrey, whom she considered a poor man, and her daughter did not end up being together.
âYou were so nice to Betty back then.â Sherry felt sorry. âItâs a pity that you broke up. Iâve been sleeping for two years. When I woke up, I found Betty marriedâ¦â
Jeffrey was listening to Sherry while his mind was wandering. However, his face changed suddenly when he heard Sherry talking about Bettyâs marriage. âWho did she marry?â
âI returned to the country a short time ago,â Jeffrey explained. âSo I havenât heard of it.â
âOh.â Sherryâs eyes dimmed. âThe marriage of such a big man should have been known to everyone in Chicago, but you got no news about it. As I expected, he hid his marriage with Betty on purpose.â
Jeffrey was very curious, with his brows knitted. âWho on earth is Bettyâs husband?â
Sherry used to take Jeffrey as her future son-in-law, so she thought Jeffrey asked her that question because he was concerned. And she didnât hide it. âHeâs Kerwin Martin, the CEO of Tylman Group and the second son of the Martin family. Since I knew it, Iâve been worried about Betty.â
Sherry kept nagging without noticing that Jeffrey blanched when he heard her words.
Kerwin Martin?
Bettyâs husband is Kerwin Martin?
âHow could it be?â Jeffrey blurted out and rose from the chair. âDid you mistake it? How could Betty marry Kerwin Martin?â
