Chapter 7
The Heir
DOMINIC was getting a little impatient as he waited for the secretary to come back. He stood up when the conference room doors opened. The president of the LS Group, Vanessa Smith, strode towards him bearing a poker-faced look that she always showed her clients. He fixed his tie and suit and flashed a smile.
âI am very sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Parker. I am in the middleââ
âNo worries,â he cut her off. âAfter all, we just have to sign the contract, and we areââ
âMr. Parker.â He did not like her tone; there was something in her voice that tells him there was something wrong. âAbout that... LS Group will no longer renew the cooperation with your company.â
âWhat?â He loosened his tie and ran his fingers through his hair. âOur companies have been partners for years. What is wrong with you, Vanessa?â
He saw her jaw clenched, which irritates him more.
âIt doesnât matter how long we have been in this contract. It was the presidentâs decision, and it is final.â
Dominicâs brows furrowed. âYou are the president, Vanessa.â
âWell, there have been changes. I am no longer the president of this company.â
He slammed his hand on the conference table.
âThen let me talk to the new president so I can explain to him what he is missing.â
âIt would be nice if you leave this place already,â Vanessa said nonchalantly and turned her back on him.
âNo. We are not done yet, Vanessa!â Dominic snapped. He walked past her and blocked her way out. âWhy are you doing this to my company? Have you found a new one? Well, let me tell you this, Vanessa. You...â He poked her chest. âAnd the whole LS Group will regret this.â
Vanessa shoved his arm away.
âLet me remind you that whether we renew the cooperation or not, it wonât hurt the LS Group.â
When Vanessaâs lips twitched, he lost it.
âHow dare you say that to me when my company has been doing all the dirty works for yours!â
She did not speak a word and pushed him aside. When Vanessa pushed the doors open, the guards went inside the conference room, grabbing him to the arms and pulling him out.
âGet off me!â He tried to free himself by fighting like a wild cat.
Dominic was almost out of the conference room when Vanessa spoke again.
âAnd oh, LS Group will claim a ten times compensation from your company. Tell that to your father.â
âWhat?â He could not believe they would make them pay when their company was the one who did not want the renewal.
âDonât act dumb, Mr. Parker. Of course, you know what I mean.â
His mouth dropped open when he realized what the woman was talking about. Vanessa was referring to the breach. But why ask for compensation now when she already turned a blind eye on that one a year ago?
The guards successfully dragged him out of the building like some piece of trash.
âScrew you all,â he said as he stood in front of the building.
He fished his phone and called Iris.
âAre you done?â his girlfriend asked.
âWhere are you? You should come out now. Weâre leaving.â
âOh, wait. Iâm here at the restroom. Iâm coming.â Iris ended the call.
After a few minutes, Iris went out of the building. Her mouth dropped open when she saw his current state.
âW-what the hell happened to you back there?â She cupped his cheek and checked him thoroughly.
âThey didnât want to renew and dragged me out.â He scoffed. âThose scums!â
âI donât get it.â
He grabbed Irisâs hand and took him to his car. Dominic better gets home fast to talk to his father. There is no way he would compensate the LS Group ten folds. He needs to do something about it, or maybe he should just run away.

âGreat work, Vanessa,â he said while clapping his hands.
âIt seemed to me that you got personal with Dominic Parker.â Vanessa picked up the glass of her refreshment that she left a while ago and took a sip.
âYou should not do it again. Good thing I have something to back it up.â
âThat is what I commend you for. And in return, I will award you with company shares.â
âMaxââ
âI will feel bad if you would not accept it,â he said in a firm tone.
Vanessa let out a sigh. âFine.â
âAnyway, I have checked some of the files, and I came up with an idea. Why donât we launch the real estate project?â
When Maximillian saw that the LS Group has a pending real estate project, he thought it was a brilliant idea to launch it now. Victoria could benefit from it.
âOh, that. Well, I donât see any problem. It was pending, though, because we havenât found theââ
âI have a suggestion.â He smiled lopsidedly.
âOh, thatâs great news.â Vanessa nodded.
