I Love You Miss Genius ( Bonnie Shepard ) CHAPTER 176
I Love You, Miss Genius
Chapter 176
âBonnie?â A familiar voice sounded from behind, interrupting Bonnieâs thoughts.
She was shocked when she turned to see who it was. âMom?â
The middleâaged woman was not Vera but Bonnieâs foster mother, Welma. Not only was Welma there, but she also brought Gerald and Bonnieâs younger brother, Benedict.
âDad, Benny, why are you here?â
âItâs been five years, Bonnie. Youâve grown into a beautiful young lady.â Welmaâs eyes reddened as she embraced Bonnie tremblingly.
âIâm sorry we havenât contacted you much these past few years, Bonnie. We havenât even visited you once. Itâs not that we donât care. We didnât want our background to make you and Trina the cityâs laughingstock.â Tears ran down Welmaâs cheeks as she spoke.
Even Gerald became tearyâeyed while Benedict turned aside to wipe away his tears discreetly.
Welma added, âI wanted to visit you for your 20th birthday and Trina for her engagement party. But your dad was worried we would embarrass you two if we showed up that day. Thatâs why we waited until today to visit.â
âItâs okay, Mom. Stop crying, okay? If you keep crying, Iâm going to cry, too.â Bonnie took out a handkerchief to wipe away her foster motherâs tears.
âYeah, we finally get to meet our daughter, and youâre crying so much. Whatâs that supposed to mean?â Gerald sighed and then looked at Bonnie, saying, âThe Shepards are too highâclass for us. We knew we would stand out like a sore thumb and embarrass you and Trina. Hey, could you go in
and call Trina out? We have birthday gifts for you two.â
âSure thing, Dad.â Bonnie turned and rang the doorbell, which puzzled the trio. They did not understand why Bonnie had to ring the doorbell to her familyâs house.
âWho is it?â The butler walked over. When he saw Bonnie, he became hostile. âOh, itâs you. Iâd prefer not to let you in, but Madam Vera told me youâd be coming to get your stuff. Quick, collect your things
and leave.â
The trio felt something was amiss. Benedict asked, âBonnie, whatâs going on? Whyâs he talking to you like that? What are you here to collect?â
Bonnie frowned and was about to explain, but the butler sneered and said, âYou guys donât know, huh? The Shepards have disowned Bonnie.â
âWhat?! Is that true?â Gerald trembled and almost fell over.
Welma was on the verge of tears, saying, âBonnie, that canât be true.â
Bonnie felt bitter but nodded and said, âThey look down on me. Itâs official. Theyâve disowned me. Iâll

be going my separate way.â
The trio was shocked.
The butler continued, âItâs not that Madam Vera looks down on you, Bonnie. Itâs because you dug your own grave by relying on your looks instead of your skills. You turned into a homewrecker and involved yourself in a love affair-â
Smack!
Bonnie slapped the butler. She would let Veraâs vicious accusations slide, but not a butler to insult her so casually. She was not an easy target.
âHow dare you slap me, you little gremlin! Iâll make you pay!â The butler held his cheek and then motioned to return Bonnieâs slap.
