âHmm.â Bonnie entered the venue with her number plate and found her seat.
She knew many familiar faces would be there today, but she did not expect to find Trinaâs and Hadwinâs family sitting beside her. Bonnie would have suspected foul play if she did r not know that Heath had randomly assigned the seats.
âBonnie? How did you end up here? How did you manage to attend the annual large- scale auction?â Vera asked Bonnie with a hint of annoyance.
Gresham pulled Vera gently. âWe have nothing to do with each other anymore. Thereâs no need to ask.â
Vera frowned at first but then relaxed. Her husband was right. Their family had no ties to Bonnie anymore. There was no need to get upset over her.
Demetria shifted his gaze away from Bonnie and looked at Hadwin, whispering, âDid Bonnie sneak in behind us? If thatâs the case, sheâs still not giving up on you. She hopes to please us through this opportunity and gain entry into our family.â
Hadwin hesitated. He used to think Bonnie liked him, but after experiencing one thing after another, he felt she had no feelings for him.
âSon, why donât you take this opportunity to inquire about your uncleâs whereabouts? Although I donât think itâs directly related to Bonnie, they had conflicts with Bonnie before his family disappeared,â Hadwinâs mother suggested.
âOkay, Mom.â
Hadwin had the same plan in mind. He got up and approached Bonnie.
âLet me ask you, do you know where Uncle Dermot and his family are?â
Bonnie raised her eyebrows lightly. âI drove them out of the country.â
âHah!â Hadwin scoffed. âYou dare to say
that?â
âWhy do I have to lie about what I did?â Bonnie retorted.
Demetria couldnât bear it anymore. âDo you have such power? Can you drive my cousinâs family out of the country? If youâre so capable, your family wouldnât have kicked you out of the Shepard family.â
Vera frowned. âWhatever it is, could you please not mention us when discussing Bonnie?
Chapter 242
âIâm sorry. I understand where youâre coming from. After all, you gave birth to such a despicable beast.â
Before Demetria finished speaking, Avril walked over angrily.
âIâm telling you, Mrs. Demetria, stop being so rude. Calling others beasts? The one who insults others like this is worse than scum.â
âYou little brat, are you asking for a beating?â Demetria roared, baring her teeth.
âI think she is right. People who insult others are worse than animals. They are immoral and lack education. They are the scum of society.â
âWho do you think you are to say that?!â Demetria turned around fiercely. However, when she saw Kay approaching, she quickly suppressed her anger.
Kayâs grandfather was Orson Steel, a renowned painter. As Kay was the most beloved granddaughter of Orson, she was someone that Avril, a small wealthy familyâs daughter, couldnât compare to. She was also someone the Rhodes family couldnât afford to provoke. âIt was me who said that. What? Do you want to hit me? Come on, if you dare, go ahead! My grandpa is over there. If you dare to lay a hand on me, Iâll go tell my grandpa immediately.â Kay stood with her hands on her hips defiantly.
Demetria didnât dare to provoke Kay and could only swallow her anger.
âCoward!â Kay rolled her eyes and then sat beside Bonnie, handing a milkshake she bought to Bonnie to please her.
