I Love You Miss Genius ( Bonnie Shepard ) CHAPTER 406
I Love You, Miss Genius
Chapter 406
âWhat a beauty,â Tanum said as he pulled out a chair for Bonnie, âHave a seat. Would you like something to drink? Itâs pretty hot outside, huh? Do you want my seat instead? The air conditioner is right above it.â
âAhem!â Aya cleared her throat and glanced at her son sidelong.
âJeez, Tanum wouldnât help me with anything even if I asked. Look at him now. Heâs already showering Bonnie with care. Theyâre not even married yet. Whoâs to say she wonât disrespect me once they get married?â
âCan I directly address you by your first name?â
Bonnie nodded. âOf course you can.
âLetâs not waste precious time and cut to the chase. You consider yourself lucky since my son likes you this much,â Aya said arrogantly.
Bonnieâs brow twitched a little as she looked at Lauren.
Lauren chuckled awkwardly. âThatâs not the right way to put it, Aya.â
âWhatâs wrong with what I said? We own this cafe, and Tanum will inherit it. Do you know how much we make monthly? We rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars if you remove the
overhead cost.â
Lauren was so envious that she could just cry.
âAya earns hundreds of thousands monthly! My family only managed to get that much after working our butts off for decades. We still spend our money very carefully.â
With that in mind, Lauren took a different approach and held Bonnieâs hands.
âBonnie, weâre countryfolk who donât have a surefire way to succeed. You only get an opportunity like this because youâre pretty. Once you marry Tanum, you must love your inlaws like your own and listen to everything Tanum says.â
Bonnie frowned and retorted, âI donât intend on marrying him, Aunt Lauren.â
Aya was displeased, saying, âAre you worried we wonât give you a handsome wedding gift, or if the wedding wonât be luxurious enough? You donât have to worry about such things. Weâre loaded, after all. Weâll host the grandest wedding ceremony youâve ever seen.
âWeâll give you what you want, but you canât afford to be lazy once you marry into my family. Youâll wake up before five every morning and prepare breakfast for everyone. Oh,

that includes lunch and dinner.

âIf thereâs one thing good about us, we treat our daughtersâinâlaw fairly and justly. Thatâs why you wonât need a job. All you have to do is be a housewife. Donât forget to clean the garden and porch.
âWe also have a vegetable patch in the backyard but never had time to plant anything. Since youâre a country girl, youâll come in handy.â
Bonnie chuckled. âMay I know how much you plan to pay me monthly?â
âWhat? Pay?â Aya grew exasperated. âLike I said, you wonât need a job. Youâll be eating our food, too. Are you seriously asking for wages?â
Bonnie retorted, âYou intend on pushing me around and asking me to be a chef, servant, and gardener. Donât forget that you even want me to manage your vegetable patch. So, Iâll be doing all that for free meals?
âWere you serious about not paying me? If thatâs true, Your Highness, I donât think anyone would want to marry your son.â
âHow dare you speak to me that way? Also, what did you mean by that last part? I expect those things from you if youâre going to be my daughterâinâlaw! Youâre obligated to do those things!â Aya was furious.
âIâve never seen anyone as shameless as her! She has a chance to marry into a wealthy family like mine, yet she dared to ask me to pay her for doing the chores!â
Bonnieâs eyes were full of mockery as she said, âHonestly, Iâm getting paid quite handsomely already. You can even say financial freedom is within my grasp. So, I donât have to be your servant. Perhaps you should find someone else.â
As she got up to leave, Tanum hastily stopped her and said, âCome on, Bonnie! Donât leave! Mom, what the hell are you doing? You donât have to make her do so many things. Youâre scaring her off.â
Aya was enraged when her son defended Bonnie.
