âYeah. Iâm aware.â Bonnie turned to Reece and said, âIâm sorry, Professor Reece. I was away to deal with an urgent matter. Thatâs why Iâm late to class.â
Reece regarded her. She seemed so friendly and approachable that he wasnât sure what to feel.
âWhat are you talking about? All of us saw you chatting with a security guard at the library. Are you swooning over him? Why donât you guys get a hotel room already?â Frankle lashed out at her.
She looked at him coldly. She was about to say something when Reece roared furiously. âThatâs enough,
Frankie! How could you say such filthy things in the lecture hall?
âI heard about your squabbles with Bonnie. It was not her fault, but you kept picking fights with her repeatedly. I want you to apologize to her right this instant. Otherwise, Iâll tell your dad about this and have him lecture you good and proper!â
That stunned Frankie. âWhy would Reece defend Bonnie?â
âWhat a dumbass!â Natalee cursed internally. The others might not know that Bonnieâs the new president,
but I do.
âThere was a big meeting this morning. Given Reeceâs standing in the university, he mustâve joined in. Heâs only defending Bonnie this much because he learned about her real identity.â
Natalee had only gotten half of it right. Reece was this defensive about Bonnie because he also
suspected that she could be someone far more important than everyone thought.
âWhat are you waiting for, Frankie? Apologize to her right now. Otherwise, you can leave the hall now!â He gave the young man an ultimatum.
Naturally, Frankieâs pride couldnât let him do it. He left the lecture hall and found his dad immediately.
âHuh? Why arenât you in class at this hour? Whatâs the matter?â Corbin asked.
âYou have to stand up for me, Dad!â He gritted his teeth as his face turned red.
âWhat happened? Did anyone pick on you?â
âItâs Professor Reece! One of my classmates was late to class, and I brought it up to him. Not only did he
let my
classmate off, but he asked me to apologize to her. He told me to leave his class if I didnât. Donât you think thatâs outrageous?!â
âAre you serious?â The story did not make sense to Corbin. âReece is known for being strict. How could he have done something like that?â
Frankie put a hand on his chest and said, 1 swear, if Iâm lying to you, then may Heaven curse me so that ! canât bear any children in the future!â
âWhy would you say something like that, you punk?!â Corbin smacked his son on the head.
Frankie rubbed his head. âThe point is, Iâm telling you the truth. You can ask him about it if you doubt me!â
Corbin looked at his son, exasperated. Then, he gave Reece a call and told him everything.
âSo, thatâs what my son said to me. What on earth is going on here, Reece? This isnât like you at all!TM
Reece was standing in the hallway with his phone. âDo you have any idea who your son crossed?â
That stunned Corbin. âIs she some big cheeseâs daughter or something?â
Recce responded, âHer nameâs Bonnie.â
âGood grief!â
Corbin quickly hung up the phone, dazed.
âHow did it go, Dad? Did Professor Reece agree to give her hell?â Frankie asked eagerly.
The next thing he knew, his dad shot up from his chair and smacked him hard on the head.
âOuch! It hurts!â Frankie yelled out of pain. His father didnât smack him hard, but he certainly meant it this
time!
âWhat the hell, Dad?â
âServes you right! Instead of focusing on your studies, youâre going around starting fights and making a mess of things. From today onward, Iâm going to hire three professors and have them take turns tutoring you!â Corbin said it angrily.
His son was meant for greater things, but the young man wouldnât get his stuff together.
Frankie looked at his dad incredulously âYouâre out of your mind! You have never hired this many
professors when I was preparing for the entrance examsâ
